Really fun place to hang out. Lots of room, great drinks! A really fun place to watch the hockey game

Ate here our first night in Montreal and it really set the bar high for the rest of the stay. The food was amazing, had the Short rib, hanger steak, green beans, Brussels, and a side of 3 scallops. The short rib came with a perfect slaw which tasted similar to Vietnamese dishes Ive had before. Only call out would be drop the green beans, they lacked seasoning, especially when compared to the Brussels (which were delicious). For dessert we had the bread pudding and it was the perfect non-fussy finish to a very rich meal. The service was great, very attentive and would 100% go back if we had time. The only downside was the table location, we were 10minutes late so maybe thats why, but seated in a spot that you couldn't see much of the rest of the restaurant, which sucks for people watching. Didn't dampen the actual meal through.
Raphael, is amazing… You come sit down and enjoy her vibe….enjoyed every minute.

You just gotta try their Tomahawk steak… absolutely delicious!!
Good service from Janele!!!!! From CG & VG from the US
Food and vibes were really really good! Really good oysters and steaks
A truly outstanding experience. From the delicious tomahawk to the tuna ricecakes, mediterrean salad and lobster tails -- cooked to perfection. Amazing music and vibe made it super fun. Special thanks to our wonderful server, Sadya, who made this a very special night for our son at McGill.
Currently working on a way to financing moving here for good. Failing that. Well, there will always be the memories.
Food was delicious but took over 1h30 to arrive.. Waiters were friendly.
The tomahawk steak iwas okay but when it comes to the seafood, the really lacked flavors. We took the surf and turf for 3 people and the seafood was... meh.. Good vibes and service was good overall, but i was disappointed with the quality and taste of the seafood, even the butter sauce had no taste..
We had a reservation at 10:00 AM. When we arrived, we were seated right away, but we had to wait quite a while for the waitress assigned to our table to bring us menus—which she never did. We ended up having to ask another server. To be honest, my experience was horrible from start to finish. After some time, the waitress finally came to take our order. She brought out the onion soup appetizer, and my boyfriend decided to add another appetizer of six shrimp. It was also very cold where we were seated. I asked the waitress if she could close the front door, and she said yes—but she never did. We then asked to change tables, which she agreed to, and we were moved. After that, we waited about 45 minutes (or more) for the shrimp. During that time, our waitress never came back to check on us. We had to ask another server for help, who then called her over. She came briefly, when to the kitchen.. come back said nothing, and then went straight to the bar and didn’t return. About 15 minutes later, a server brought a plate to our old table, where new guests were now seated, and then left. We realized it was likely our order. We had to call another waitress again because ours never came back. Eventually, they took the plate back to the kitchen and returned a couple of minutes later with shrimp they claimed were “new.” However, the shrimp were cold, dry, and clearly not fresh. When we pointed this out, the waitress got upset, walked away, and said we wouldn’t be charged. We then waited another 20 minutes for our main dishes. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing—everything was dry and not fresh. The service was extremely poor, and even when we expressed our concerns, no one seemed to care. The waitress later brought the bill with an attitude, which was surprising considering she was mostly absent and spent most of her time at the bar. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. Poor service, long wait times, lack of attention, and low-quality food. Definitely not worth it.
Inappropriate and unacceptable behavior
This is our second time and Grinder in Montreal absolutely exceeded expectations. We started with the burrata paired with aubergine cream—perfectly balanced with apple vinegar and chili flakes—and a bluefin tuna tartare that was incredibly fresh with a standout marinanation and sauce. For mains, everything hit. The 9 oz bavette was cooked beautifully and full of flavor, the Grinder burger was tender and juicy, and the octopus with crispy potatoes was honestly out of this world. Even the sides were memorable—the baby sprouts were insanely good, and the creamy bacon potatoes were just as impressive. For dessert, I tried pudding chômeur for the first time, and it was unforgettable. The rich buttery texture, combined with the sweet syrup and vanilla ice cream, made it one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. The atmosphere really ties it all together: friendly and attentive service, great music, and one of the best IPA beers I’ve had in Montreal. At around $80 CAD per person, it’s absolutely worth it. I’ll be coming back every time I’m in Montreal.
Best spot in Griffintown
Went with a large group last weekend, Jacob was our server and did a great job with helping us celebrate our friend's birthday. It was a busy night but the flow of the night was perfect, shared the surf and turf platter. Food was really tasty, scallops were a tad small but made up for it in flavour. Steak was super tender and perfectly cooked. Would go back.
What an amazing experience! We had the surf and turf and it was just incredible. We also had the ice cream and pudding chômeur oh my! Soooo good :-) We were served by Janelle and her service was excellent. Thank you!!!!
My second time here, I regret not writing a review the first time. Anyways, Sadya, you were amazing with the service, thank you for making our second visit a memorable one. The food is top notch and the wine selection is excellent. Will look forward to my next visit here when I'm back in Montreal.
I had the calamari and the halibut. Both were delicious. Each dish was cooked to perfection and paired with rich, flavorful sauces. This was my second time at Grinder in the same week. What really makes the experience worth coming back for is the attentive service. I had Alejandro both times, and he delivers a level of service that’s rare to find. Service is an art form, and they truly get it at Grinder. Highly recommend.
Gianni and Raymer were absolutely amazing!! Great service, food was delicious. Would definitely just come back for them
All the food was amazing but service was questionable, they kept forgetting to bring us things that came with our dishes. I would still recommend.
Good food and atmosphere Love the podding ice cream
Grinder is a name to take seriously. I thought I would just have a main dish with a side, maybe dessert, and leave. That did not happen. This restaurant really understands how to deliver an experience that keeps you wanting to order more and more. The food, the atmosphere, and the service made the whole evening feel worth it. A very good experience overall.
Excellent birthday celebration, service was top notch. Zatya- hope I am spelling it correctly, was an amazing server. From the wines to the food the Grinder experience is a must in Montreal.
