Stopped by chez État Major last weekend around 7pm and the duck rillettes were an unexpected highlight, rich and perfectly balanced with the pickles they serve alongside. The brick walls and dim lighting gave it a cozy, lived-in vibe that made it easy to linger over drinks after the food was gone. Our server clearly knew the menu inside out and steered us toward a cider pairing that worked really well with the mains. Already thinking about which friends to bring back next time I'm wandering around that part of town.

Sunday brunch at État Major hit the spot, we got there around 10:30 and the place had this cozy, low-key buzz that's perfect for catching up with friends. The duck hash with a poached egg on top was the standout, rich and perfectly seasoned, and the coffee kept flowing without us even asking. Our server was genuinely warm and gave solid recommendations when we couldn't decide between two brunch specials. Honestly can't wait to go back and try their dinner menu next time.

Stopped by Montréal for a few days and finally tried État Major on a recommendation, and it did not disappoint at all. The duck dish we ordered was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, honestly one of the best meals we had on the whole trip. Staff were friendly and explained the menu in detail since we had no idea what to pick, which made the whole experience way less intimidating. Would go back in a heartbeat next time we're in town, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit.

What an incredible experience! First time and hopefully not the last. Left a note on the reservation, not expecting them to read it. The staff made us feel like VIPs and made a great day even better! The service was 5 stars, the attention to detail was impeccable and the food was delicious (proper medium-rare!). Thank you to everyone for helping us celebrate a very special occasion.

We grabbed a table Sunday morning after a friend swore by the brunch here, and the duck hash with the runny egg on top was worth the hype. The dining room has this warm, lived in bistro feel with the big windows letting in tons of light, perfect for a slow catch up over coffee. Our server was genuinely great, walked us through the specials without rushing and even brought extra maple butter for the toast unprompted. We rolled in around 10:30 and got seated fast, no wait at all, which made the whole morning even better.

The food wasn't as enjoyable as I remember. It feels like there may have been a change in the kitchen. The dishes lacked In flavour and presentation was off. Service was good

The presentation of food was a work of art, the flavours out of this world especially the tuna steak, so tender and crispy on the outside with the most beautiful presentation, can't thank the chef enough for putting such thought and effort into his dishes. I recommend the salmon tartar as an entree, my friends had the Bison, it was okay, a little chewy but good, however I was thrilled to make the right choice with the help of our cheerful server, the octopus was tender and light flavored, small portions but very powerful ingredients, I was full after my meal. Bring your own wine is definitely a bonus, for those who don't consume alcohol like me they have non-alcoholic beer for purchase. Atmosphere was lively and just an all around fantastic experience, will definitely be back.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere!! Have been there several times and each time is fantastic. Thankfully, it was one of the few gourmet restaurants open on Monday evening. Despite being down to core staff, the food was as excellent as ever (even better than usual?). As a bonus we got almost exclusive attention from Mathieu, the most professional server, warm and personable, always there when needed yet giving personal space, the perfect balance. 🫶 Merci à tous l’équipe qui était là ce soir. Cinq étoiles et plus!!
