Good food, nice atmosphere.
Reviews / Ratings for Restaurant Elena
My friends and I enjoyed this place mostly due to the atmosphere and good service. The food really wasn’t very special. For a restaurant that only serves pizza and pasta, why is there only 3 pasta choices? We had the pizza Dany. It was very original but overall wasn’t the biggest fan and wouldn’t order again. It didn’t taste like a pizza and it was a bit overly sweet. The basque cheesecake was probably the best thing we had. Overall very underwhelmed and will not return/recommend but it does have a nice vibe
The salad was very salty and just lettuce and about 3 croutons. The pizza was very garlicky and came cold. We were seated about 6 inches from the table next to us which meant we almost had to chat with them, even though it was a date night. There’s no sign out front. Our uber driver couldn’t find it. Definitely expected better given the hype.
Excellent! My daughter surprised me with a birthday dinner at Elena. When we arrived, our table was not ready and our host Olivier sat us at the bar and suggested a glass of bubbly wine while we waited. Once seated at our table, our server was very friendly and attentive. We started with the olives and the salumi - both very good quality. We then shared a Caesar Salad and the Supplì. The salad was tasty and you could tell that the dressing was made in house. The supplì were just as good as the ones I had in Rome. We then had the pasta special, triangular ravioli with ricotta and artichokes, with a very light sauce made with mint, lemon zest and Parmesan … what a surprise!! It was delicious and refreshing and very well designed. We also had the AP style pizza which was amazing. We had gelato for dessert, the pistachio was to die for ! During the meal the service was great, and Olivier was knowledgeable and great at suggesting wine pairings. We will definitely be back!
Recently dined at Elena. The evening started well with a warm greeting and a friendly, knowledgeable server. We ordered a bottle of white wine and several dishes to share. The food was delicious and well done, and it’s worth noting that this review is based on the experience rather than the food itself. That said, a few things took away from the night. The wine was served without a cooler, and the restaurant became noticeably colder as the evening went on, to the point where it was freezing by the end. As the night progressed, the friendliness from our server faded and they were often not nearby when we wanted to order more. Overall, great food, but the service and comfort level didn’t match it.
Outstanding restaurant with great atmosphere and design! The food was simply amazing, I'd absolutely recommend everything we had. The service truly stood out! Marcus welcomed our table of 7 with warmth and expertise, guiding us through the menu and anticipating our every need. What a great dining experience!!!
Omg get the kale Cesar salad NOW
Ate dinner here last night and was really really impressed. We had the verde salad, diavolo pizza and the braised beef and pork pasta and had the tirimisu tres leches for dessert. All of it was a 10/10! And the natural wine I had was the most interesting one I have had to date! The thing that really made this and exceptional experience was the bartender (we ate at the bar). He was absolutely lovely person and incredible at his job. So smiley and sweet and attentive. I wish I remembered his name so I could give him a shout but he had longer dark hair and I hope his bosses give him a raise 🙂↔️ Thanks for a lovely experience! I will absolutely be back the next time I visit Montreal 👌
We were highly recommended to try Elena for their pizza, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We started with the meatballs and marinated red peppers as appetizers—both were incredible. The meatballs were rich and flavorful, and the peppers were perfectly balanced and delicious. The pizza was outstanding. Every bite was spot on, from the crust to the toppings. Everything we had was absolutely perfect. This is definitely a place I’d come back to without hesitation.
Thursday evening – table of 4. We arrived for 6pm reservations and I assume this early for the regular clientele as only tow other tables were seated. Was seated a corner table which is large circular table making it a little awkward when your 4 unless you add a chair. Started with come cocktails which were good. Appetizers: polpete, beet salad, supli and another dish I can’t recall were all very tasty. Everyone enjoyed. We then shared two pizzas (Diavolo and Margherita) which were also excellent. A dish of sugo (ragu) was also ok, not great but not bad. I thought it lacked seasoning and was rather bland. Service was excellent from all of staff were interacted with, friendly and professional. Wine suggestions (by the glass) were spot on. Noise level is high, but we were also seated under a speaker so music was a little loud. Plenty of parking available out front (free) and the area is quiet and residential. I prefer coming here in the summer when you can sit outside on the terrace which is more quiet. I had also indicated this was a birthday dinner in the Opentable reservation but this was overlooked or ignored.
Absolutely lovely experience!
Elena is tasty, fairly priced, and well worth it. Balanced menu, loyal crowd, and a great neighborhood spot.
Excellent
Garbage. Don’t go.
Very loud. You’re also seated quite closed to other guests. Had pizza (great) with lamb pasta (also great) with tiramisu (served with filtered coffee, do not recommend). All in all a decent experience, but don’t get the hype honestly.
We love this place, it’s one of the few places we take out of towners when they come to the city. When it’s busy, It’s very noisy, but otherwise it’s a great place to chat and eat with friends. They always have an alternative or two on the menu that’s tasty - but the pizza is why we go. You can get a spicy honey/ pepperoni pizza anywhere in town so don’t sleep on the other options. They’re the best ones! Big fan
2026: nice olives and bread to start, but would be nice if olive oil had a little balsamic. The suppli Al telefono were better than typical arancini. Funguy pizza was overflowing with mushrooms. The lamb pasta was delicious. Tiramisu tres leches was perfect, best of both desserts. My friend enjoyed her chocolate cannolis. Service was friendly. Suggested wine was great. Été something. Lighting could still be better, it felt dark rather than intimate. Maybe some fake candles? 2024: The Dany pizza was delicious and creative with the sesame spinach honey combo, but I didn't like how wet it was, like all the toppings just slide off as soon as you lift it up. The Gigi pasta was a interesting bitter mix of flavours with the fennel and arugula, but there was barely any sausage in it. Olive oil cake was nice but pretty dry compared to other olive cakes I've had. I know the cream+olive oil is there to compensate but it's not the same. Cannolis were delicious and well presented, available without the pistachios if you have an allergy. The Barbossa is a smooth young red wine accompaniment Service was very attentive and efficient. Glasses were never empty. Decor was typical modern industrial. If there was music, it wasn't memorable.
The team is phenomenal & the food doesn’t miss the mark. Unpretentious & well done, The best part of living in st Henri is being close to Elena.
Excellent poutine, simple space.
Interesting decor. Nice ambience. Food and service was very good. Seemed popular for locals. 3 pizzas and a pasta for 4 Enjoyed the wine we selected (bio /org list)
I don't think I've had a worse pizza in all of Montreal. Anyone who says this pizza is good should lose all credibility instantly. The crust is tasteless and dense, the sauce lacks flavour and the cheese is poor quality. It's also small and thin but not in a good way. The ceasar salad was great but for a pizzeria, this place is an embarrassement. Literally go anywhere else for pizza. And on a final point, this is an open kitchen and the cooks didn't have their hair properly covered - seeing a woman cook with a long, bushy pony tail does not meet my standards of kitchen hygiene.
A group of us came for my best friend’s 40th birthday and we all decided to go with the set menu! It was absolutely fantastic, we truly enjoyed ourselves and the service was on point. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Pizza is excellent as always! However the service was inattentive: our server came by only a few times. More importantly we asked for our leftover slices to be boxed up and they never gave us our pizza! I was looking forward to that but they clearly were trying to turn the table once we paid. That’s so bizarre and rude!
Fabulous pizza in a great setting. This place is always busy so be sure to make a reservation.
Reserved a seat for a small group a week in advance, only to be placed at the bar table right by the entrance door. The pizzas were pretty mediocre, burnt (not leoparding, just burnt and bitter) and the crust was dense and lacked air pockets, I’m quite sure the entire batch was under-proofed that day.
