My girlfriend and I have a tradition of celebrating special occasions by exploring Montreal’s culinary scene. For our anniversary this year, we chose Dorsia, a restaurant whose reputation and glowing reviews met our standards for an anniversary dinner. Unfortunately, the experience never quite lived up to the expectations. Before we had even been seated, the evening got off to an awkward start. Upon arrival, we were immediately informed that we would need to leave our table by 9:30 p.m., roughly two hours after our reservation time. While we fully understand that restaurants may have scheduling constraints and multiple seatings throughout the evening, leading with such a statement guests feels unprofessional and somewhat impersonal. There are certainly more tactful ways to communicate timing expectations without making diners feel like they are already on the clock before they have sat down. On a more positive note, our server, JF, was pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable. He explained each dish thoroughly and carried himself professionally throughout the evening. The service issues that followed were clearly not a reflection of his attitude, but rather of the restaurant’s overall execution. For a restaurant positioning itself at the upper end of Montreal’s dining spectrum, some of the mistakes we encountered were surprisingly amateur. The first came before our meal had even begun. While the tables seated around the same time as us were promptly served bread and butter, our table was completely overlooked. It was only after our entrées had arrived and we started eating it that bread was finally offered. A clear indication that someone had realized the oversight. Even though this seems minor, these details matter in restaurants that claim to be fine dining, where careful attention to detail are part of what guests are paying for. The most disappointing mistake, however, came when our main courses were delivered without any utensils. We sat staring at beautifully plated dishes with no means of eating them until we flagged down staff and requested cutlery ourselves. This is not something we have ever experienced. Not at casual restaurants, not at neighborhood bistros, and certainly not at establishments charging premium prices. For a restaurant of Dorsia’s caliber, it is simply inexcusable. Ironically, despite the emphasis placed on the 9:30 departure time, the pacing of the meal was remarkably slow. Our main courses did not arrive until approximately 8:55 p.m., leaving us only about 35 minutes before the deadline we had been warned about from the moment we arrived. Because of this, what should have been a relaxed anniversary dinner became an experience where we felt increasingly rushed to finish our meal. If a restaurant chooses to impose strict time limits, it should at the very least ensure that the kitchen and service flow allow guests enough time to comfortably enjoy the experience they are paying for. As for the food, visually, every plate was stunning. Presentation is clearly one of the restaurant’s strengths. However, the flavors rarely matched the aesthetics. The scallops lacked depth and seasoning, resulting in a very bland dish. The beef tartare was enjoyable, but offered nothing particularly distinctive or memorable compared to many others available in Montreal. The Doré was perhaps the biggest disappointment of the evening. It was technically well presented, but it was almost entirely devoid of flavor. The steak fared slightly better, but it leaned *heavily* toward the rare side and ultimately failed to leave a lasting impression. One aspect of the evening that we still struggle to understand is whether some of the treatment we received was influenced by our age. As a younger couple, we could not help but wonder if assumptions were made about us from the moment we walked through the door. We sincerely hope that was not the case. Regardless, no guest should leave a restaurant questioning whether they were treated differently than others around them.

The food is great but my table has no one to clean the table. Not even once, missed the order. And the handle of the staircase is so loose and i fell off the stairs. Suprised how to earn the michelin rating with this service.

I mean meehh. They’ve been around for a couple years and I was sold to the idea of a high end restaurant like but it’s not. Food’s ok, drinks are ok but it’s not definitely a fancy place. For a $500 bill I was expecting a bit more. My reservation was not ready upon arrival, washrooms were dirty and they were out of stock of everything —it was literally just beef or fish like ordering in a plane. I didn’t appreciate some patrons acting like they owned the place because apparently were acquaintance of someone from the bar arriving in tennis shoes and wearing hats while being loud and tacky. The cake was spectacular but a apart from that a bit mid tbh.

Dorsia was hands down one of the best dining experiences ever. Every single thing we ordered was incredible, but the oysters absolutely stole the show. They were chef dressed with tequila, lime, and cilantro, and I can confidently say they were the best oysters I’ve ever had in my life. The flavors were unbelievably fresh, perfectly balanced, and something I’m still thinking about. The bartender said they are dressed to mimic cocktails, and I couldn’t stop complementing them. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was next level, and the bartender ended up being my favorite person ever — unfortunately I didn’t get his name, but he completely made the experience. Super personable, fun, and clearly passionate about what he does. If you’re in Montreal, Dorsia is a must-visit!! (+ thx chat for cleaning up this review)

I recently dined at this restaurant and left feeling underwhelmed, especially considering the price point. We started with the steak tartare and grilled octopus. Both were decent but nothing memorable—overall pretty mediocre for what you’re paying. For mains, we tried the agnolotti and cavatelli. The agnolotti was the biggest disappointment of the night, lacking flavor and depth, making it feel quite flat. The cavatelli was noticeably better, with a more satisfying taste and texture, but still not enough to make the experience stand out. Overall, the meal didn’t quite justify the cost, and I was expecting more in terms of flavor and creativity.

I can’t say enough good things about our recent visit for my wife’s birthday. We had a custom 5-course menu that highlighted the best of what Dorsia has to offer, and every single course was amazing. The food was stunningly beautiful and absolutely delicious—it lived up to every expectation. The service was impeccable and so attentive. They even went the extra mile by preparing a special birthday cake for us since we planned ahead. A special shout-out to Maude for being so great! She was instrumental in organizing everything and making sure the night was perfect. Thank you for such an awesome experience—we will definitely be back!

Disappointing experience overall. There was more stuff than customers yet they were busy walking around for nothing. Upon arrival we weren’t given menu right away. And when we can’t wait any longer for our drink order we had to flash the busboy for wine. Afterwards we were served WARM white wine by the so called sommelier. What kind of Michelin restaurant serve unrefrigerated hot storage room temperature white wine? The oyster was not fresh. And when we jokingly commented on that they did nothing. The blue fin tuna was saggy. What kind of food standards is that? The fact that the chef would serve that at this calliper is amazing. When the truffle dish came to the table, the waiter asked have we seen black truffle before. I mean even if you came from small poor town and have never seen it before, you should not assume your customers whom were all dressed full in Hermès and Chanel the same assumption. I’m sorry but that sounded like an insult. And please, your canned almost melted white asparagus was not worth bragging about. Yes we’ve seen it. The steak was lukewarm the most. Not from a good cut yet bland. I have to say you’re very brave to charge people that much for your subpar, unprofessional operation. And the empty dining room says it all.

I recently celebrated a birthday at Dorsia in Old Port, and the entire experience truly exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we had stepped into a Michelin-star restaurant in the heart of Paris. The atmosphere is elegant and refined, creating the perfect setting for a special occasion. As for the food, it was absolutely unbelievable. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, clearly crafted with care and precision. Dorsia absolutely exceeded expectations. We originally stopped in just for drinks, no plans for a full dinner but despite being a group of six, they were incredibly accommodating and welcomed us without hesitation. What started as a casual stop turned into the best experience of the night. We began with drinks, and every single one was exceptional beautifully crafted, balanced, and memorable. After taking a look at the menu, most of us couldn’t resist and ended up ordering food as well and I’m so glad we did. The dishes were truly outstanding, easily matching the quality of the cocktails. One standout for me personally was the pickled stuffed olives completely mind-blowing and unexpectedly one of the highlights of the night. The service elevated everything even further. Our server was kind, attentive, and gave excellent recommendations throughout the evening. But what really made the experience unforgettable was Lucas. He handled our lively, chatty group with ease even as the restaurant quieted down and still managed to provide a personalized and thoughtful experience. He went out of his way to walk my friend through the variety of martinis they offer, which was a really nice touch. Dorsia delivers on every level drinks, food, and service. What started as a spontaneous visit turned into a night we’ll all remember. Definitely a top-tier spot and one I’d highly recommend.

My experience at Dorsia was fantastic. The service was excellent from start to finish, the team really made the whole evening feel special. The sommelier was spot on with the wine pairing and the food was delicious. But I have to say, Rihanna at the entrance completely shifted my mood the moment I walked in. She’s amazing and sets the tone right away

That was a 5 stars experience to me and my friend. We had two drinks, both very good.We both had steak tartare for starter (hands down the best tartare I've ever had) which was a pretty decent portion. Then we had two plates of pasta: I purposely picked the simplest one: paccheri with tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, pepper and basil, so you can really tell the quality of the ingredients. It was heavenly, the paccheri were cooked to perfection. My friend had a more elaborate pasta (can't remember now) and it was ridiculously good. We had dessert and the bill was 230$, plus I left 22% tip because the staff was amazing: very attentive and professional without being too stiff as you see in some places that confuse 'high-end experience' with bloated stiffness and too much form. We felt pampered and looked after, just great. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is also beautifully balanced: we got greeted by a really lovely girl who made us feel immediately at home, and took our coats. The interior design is classy and elegant (and I mean elegant, not douchy-bro-gold-chain "elegant"), soft lights and a pleasant crowd on the younger side. I'm taking my girlfriend next week, absolutely loved it. Definitely came for the name (I love the movie) but stayed for the quality of the food and staff. Thank you guys!

We had an amazing overall dining experience at Dorsia tonight. Did the 4 course tasting menu, all of the dishes were fantastic, the decor is beautiful, and service here was flawless. This truly is a special restaurant to visit for a special occasion, we were blown away tonight and would highly recommend it here!

Phenomenal experience at Dorsia!. While it was a pre-set menu for valentine's day, it did not disappoint. The highlight however, is the attentive staff, be it the servers, hostesses or mixologist, they all distinguished themesleves with their care and attention to detail. Special shout-out to Sebastien at the bar, who was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable- made our experience memorable.

We went there, the night before Valentine‘s day, to celebrate our anniversary, the ambiance was impressive and chic. Our server Guillaume was very professional and competent. We ordered the steak tartare, the agnolotti, the cavatelli and the wagyu striploin, and everything was delicious, but the pasta specifically stood out. We also had the matchatini and the lychee martini and were really tasty. Also, Maude and all the other servers, runners, and bussers were all extremely attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone who wants a wonderful dining experience in Old Port.
