Really enjoyed our meal here! The dishes are creative and full of flavor. I especially liked that the appetizers are reasonably priced, so we could try a few different ones without feeling like we had to choose just one. Definitely kept our taste buds happy. The wine selection is also really good, with lots of great options that aren’t too expensive. Service was great as well — our server took the time to explain each dish, which made the whole experience even better. Would definitely come back!

Really really good. We ate all over the city during our 1 week stay in Montreal and this meal was one of our highlights. Flavour pairings and fusion components worked really well together, in particular the Mille-Feuille dessert served that night with a taro "chip" in place of the usual puff pastry. Really enjoyed the pickles served at the start of the meal to open up our palates. The restaurant appears to be a bit under the radar, as it was a very quiet evening the night we were there. There was a small mistake with one of our dishes but the team took care of it with grace. Service overall was excellent, wine delicious, and good pacing with the courses. Highly recommend

The food was absolutely incredible and unique. The focaccia with scallions was to die for and the beef tongue and pork mains were incredible with very deep flavour. Excited to try again and see the new items they come up with.

A French sales acquaintance mentioned about this place as a must try. I asked my husband if he would be interested to try this new place for date night. He said yes based on the name Chouchou which is what he calls me 😂. We had no expectations but we really enjoyed the Pékin duck sandwich. Nice play with texture and appreciated that it didn't lean on strong hoisin sauce. By the 2nd dish which was the aubergine, I told my husband that it had the qualities and spirit of the food we eat at île Flottante, one of our go to anniversary restaurants. We mentioned it to the service staff and he actually confirmed that the chef was indeed her! The 3rd dish was the Liangpi which was quite good but I would recommend the staff to tell customers to stir the sauce à bit more before going for the first bite as the denser sesame sauce was hidden under the layer of chili oil. No harm done because each subsequent bite tasted better and better. The last dish we tried was the beef tongue which was a solid choice. The texture was very close to braised brisket but done in a French way. We finished off the meal with the Basque cheese cake with meringue and local fruits. The sake was really yummy too! We will be back soon!

This is the first review I’ve ever left in a restaurant, but this place was really something. The duck was impeccable, along with the red wine we took by the glass. Great recommendations from both of the waitresses. They both made sure I was content with the food with my wife and I. She took the sour of the day and it was delicious. The restaurant gets loud easily but that’s an easy fix. For a restaurant that’s been opened for less than three months, it’s impressive. Keep up the hard work, it’s paying off. We found this place randomly. And it was a pleasure to dining in here. The restaurant is not a huge space but food is really really good. As a Chinese, I never thought about flavour can be used this way. Food is awesome! My favorited is the duck. Meat comes in two way. we added a salad which is also good. Char Siu is not a traditional Char Siu but it’s a great! The panda cotta dessert is refreshing and delicious. Really good combination! I am a huge fan and will come back again!

The chef created beautiful vegan plates for me with a bit of a heads-up. I love exploring good food and wine around the city and it definitely is a challenge to find a cute atmosphere and good food that would please everyone. I am going back with my omnivore and vegan friends. I had the ravioli with mushroom+potato filling instead of pork. The sauce was particularly good. We shared the asparagus and endive salad. For the salad, they brought separate sauces for me (a delicious vinaigrette) and my friend (the original shrimp sauce). The chef also created an impromptu frozen berry dessert which was surprisingly delicious (much better and much more special than a sorbet). Good wine selection as well.

Honestly, if you see this review, just take it as a sign and go try this place. I’m so happy to see Montreal nurture a restaurant with such a beautiful modern French-Chinese identity. The atmosphere is so charming, Their logo makes me believe there’s a talented little mouse in the kitchen coming up with all these brilliant recipe ideas. The appetizers and cocktails were absolutely impressive. I especially like the coconut scallops!

I entered with skepticism after browsing the menu, curious, almost unconvinced that elevated French methods would work on traditional Chinese flavors. Yet I left, with positive sentiment, about what I just consumed. It was familiar but different, creative and stunning, a unique dining experience. It was a fine dining adventure that offered value and one of a kind menu, in a culinary city where one thinks they have seen it all. Personal highlights include the miso tea egg flavored with black bean dace (that traditional oval can found in Chinese grocery stores) and the Pekin duck bun. One minor comment or a one-off, I wish the ravioli was served a bit hotter, but perhaps there was a purpose for it being warm. Everything is made in-house, you can taste the quality and care. I recommend to all to at least give this newcomer a try and see for yourself. The menu DOES work!

If you’re looking for a restaurant in Montreal that truly surprises you—in the best way possible—Restaurant Chouchou is one you don’t want to miss. This fairly new restaurant has such a charming and inviting atmosphere—warm, stylish, and thoughtfully put together. The service throughout was excellent: attentive, welcoming, and perfectly paced without ever feeling rushed. We began with the Mimosa Egg and the Peking duck sandwich. The egg was beautifully prepared—light, creamy, and incredibly refined. The duck sandwich, however, completely stole the spotlight. The duck was tender and rich with a perfect balance of flavors, and my husband hasn’t stopped talking about it since. We also had the Chicken salad, Tofu tartar, and the Scallops. The chicken was unbelievably tender—truly melt-in-your-mouth—and paired with fresh, vibrant ingredients. The tofu tartar was a pleasant surprise—fresh, delicate, and thoughtfully seasoned, offering a lighter yet equally satisfying contrast to the other dishes. The scallops were outstanding: perfectly prepared and paired with coconut to create a dish that was both delicate and bursting with flavor. We then tried the Salmon and the Squash Ravioli with peanut sauce, and both were equally impressive. The salmon was cooked flawlessly—moist, flaky, and full of clean flavor. The squash ravioli was a standout for its creativity, combining sweet and nutty notes in a way that felt both comforting and elevated. What made the experience even more special is how memorable it was—we spoke about the meal the entire way home and have since recommended it to many friends. My husband, who rarely comments on restaurants, has been telling everyone about this place. Chouchou is absolutely worth a visit. We will definitely be returning. One small note—since it was our first visit, we were excited to try a variety of dishes, which meant the table felt a bit tight once the plates arrived along with our drinks. Also, parking in the area can be a bit challenging, so it’s worth planning ahead.

I tried the entire menu, and the appetizers were a total standout—the Scallion Focaccia is a must-try. The Urumqi Chicken Salad was incredibly fragrant with its Sichuan peppercorn oil, and you can tell the chicken was marinated overnight; it was exceptionally velvety and flavorful. Another genius pairing was the Char Siu Pork Neck with the burnt onion sauce; the smoky, charred notes were an unexpected but perfect match. Osmanthus providing a sophisticated sweetness that pairs beautifully with the pear. E very dish shows a deep, authentic understanding of Chinese seasoning. Highly recommended!

A cold and windy day in March ended with an incredible meal and this brand new restaurant. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and each course was delightful for all the senses. A warm and cosy interior with engaging staff and dishes that were satisfying and creative. I will definitely be back
