came in for brunch, food was great and bartender with the glasses made a mean latte.
Reviews / Ratings for Restaurant Bar à Montreal - Le Sparrow
Sadly bad customer service and price too high for the quality of food, I was disappointed…
The food was pretty good, but when we got there, we were told to just have a seat in one of the reserved tables (we had a reservation) and that water will be served to us. When we sat down, there were no menus and no server who gave us water and we had to ask the bartender who walked by for them. Another group we noticed came after us and they had to ask the table beside them for the menus too. While we were ordering, it was 1 hour into happy hour (and them opening) and were told they ran out of oysters, which is crazy because they close late so what if all the other customers wanted oysters for the night? For the bill, there wasn’t a server who came by so I just went up to the counter to pay. Overall, it took a while to just even order and we were there longer than we expected.
This is a great place. One of the original bars that helped shape what Mile End has become today. It has that perfect mix of character, history, and a laid-back vibe that’s hard to find. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in the neighborhood.
Amazing brunch/breakfast. Fantastic food, nice atmosphere. I love this spot
The service was great and the food came out super fast. I highly recommend the salmon plate! The side potatoes were really good too. The ambiance is very nice with good music.
We stopped here late at night for a snack and a cocktail, and both were lovely. The vibe is very cozy. We sat outside under the lights and it felt so romantic — such a nice little spot for a late-night stop. ✨
Awful service and overpriced, disappointing food. As soon as I walked in the waiters were extremely awkward and made me feel like an idiot. Which I guess I was for spending my money there. My friends and I ordered the cauliflower entrée, the veggies, fries and the Caesar salad, plus drinks. Drinks were fine, fries were ok, but the cauliflower tasted too much of vinegar. The veggie plate was a horrendous letdown. The menu was unclear and our waitress did not tell us what the “veggie of the day was”, so I ended up paying 9$ for a few long peppers. Saddest thing ever. When I told one waiter it was not what I expected, he kind of just shrugged it off and didn’t offer an alternative or take away the accursed plate I did not want to eat. I expressed my disappointment to the waitress at the end, who didn’t show me any special courtesy either. But the worst part of our meal was the Caesar salad, which ended up giving my friend diarrhea within minutes after we left. Because the waitress hovered over me as I paid, I ended up tipping her even though I had received terrible service. The only positive thing was the atmosphere. Love the vintage look of the place, but the food is a waste of money and the waiters just don’t know how to treat customers with respect. Sadly a reoccurring theme with Gen Z employees.
Good brunch.
