First, the food and atmosphere here are fantastic. It’s super cute and cozy. My biggest issue was when we arrived, as a group of 8, we were told the wait time was about an hour and we agreed to stay and wait. The place was very busy so we stayed on the property but waited outside and I was I would get a text when our table was ready. After waiting an hour and 15min, we spoke again to the host and they said our table was almost ready and we were the top of the list. About 5min after that, another large group was brought back. We went back to the host and they told us the big table (which they only had one of) is given 1hr 45min for their meal time and they were almost done. After waiting for 2hrs, we were finally seated. If a large group is given 1hr 45min, why are guests being told an hour wait? That group would have clearly had just sat down when we arrived which would make the wait at least 1hr 45min - not an hour. I would suggest letting large groups make reservations or offering large groups the option to split into smaller groups for seating if you only have one large table.
Awesome food and rustic atmosphere.
Again, another iconic Montreal/up north restaurant that’s been around for decades with a rich local French Canadian history. This place burned down at least once in aware of and was rebuilt and then towards the end of covid they also renovated and I think expanded as well. The atmosphere is a cozy Canadians country house feel, and waiting for a table is awesome as the have unlimited coffee and hot chocolate and a big open hearth fire pit and Adirondack seating. Once inside it’s just as lovely and window seating gives views of the Laurention mountains as well - beautiful in the winter and fall. The specialy for lunch and dinner is the infamous home made porc sandwiches and that amazing porc and beans with maple syrup and fresh crusty bread. Add a soup and you have a meal just a soup and beans or soup and sandwich. Fries are nothing to speak about as they are standard frozen French fries. This place has an exception breakfast and brunch menue that includes options of mounds of bacon, homemade preserves, homemade crusty bread, homemade beans (mentioned above), and the house specialty would be “Ogre” at a bit over $15.00 Canadian plus tax and tip. This is an excellent place to go as an “Après ski” and you will often see people in their snow gear where stranger often share their experiences amongst each other as it’s a very friendly environment. All credit cards accepted and super kid friendly with a kids menue too. If you’re going on a weekend for breakfast or brunch, an institution for this meal, go very very early as they are likely going to have a line. They don’t take reservations unless it’s a large group I think but do check yourself. I’ve lived this place since childhood and it’s always a treat to eat there and enjoy the amazing environment as well as a lovely drive up north if specifically coming from Montreal.
My favorite restaurant in the entire world.
It was a very cabin like feeling. The atmosphere was very cozy with the fire place at the entrance and with free hot chocolate and coffee. The service was great. The people were warm and friendly.
Loved the experience
Expect a wait time but however long you wait it will be worth every second! Everything about this place is a 5 star. Whenever I go I always leave with a jar of jam because of how good it is. I recommend getting any of the crepe meals but anything you go with will be very good. And if you get a hot chocolate ask for it un a bowl!
The super famous authentic sugar shack breakfast & brunch. Perfect for tourists. Weekend lunchtime can have hour-long waits, but the bonfire and free coffee make for a great atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the wait. The service, ambiance, and, of course, the delicious food make it well worth the trip. However, it's best to go when you have plenty of time.
Best breakfast in the north !!
Excellent french Canadian cuisine. Their specialty is their ham, homemade smoked slowly with maple syrup. Yummy. Very good menu and reasonable price. So popular, there always a waiting , but they built a cool lobby with a central wood, chairs and free coffee as you wait.
Excellent 👌🏻💯

We loved our late lunch here. Generous servings. Tasty Quebecois food. Cozy vibes! Great service! Must visit if you’re in the Laurentians!
Greatest breakfast place in the area
Amazing breakfast spot! Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the coffee was excellent. A must-try if you’re in Quebec!
Really enjoy Au Petit Poucet for breakfast. Was looking for something different than the usual spots in Montreal and decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. Everything was delicious from beginning to end! We both took the Ogre dish which came with eggs, sautéed potatoes, bacon, ham, beans with ham and pain ménage. Portions were generous and left the restaurant extremely satisfied!
