Amir used to be my absolute favourite restaurant — honestly the only place I would eat out. I always loved the food and the atmosphere, and it was somewhere I recommended often. However, more recently I’ve noticed a big change in quality and overall experience. Since some of the previous employees are no longer there — especially the gentleman with the Mustang who was always so welcoming — things have unfortunately gone downhill. Lately I’ve been served by the same older gentleman with salt and pepper hair. He is always the one handling the meat when he’s there, and the other employees never seem to touch it. He often looks cranky or upset, which already changes the experience. On top of that, my mixed sandwiches have been very small and almost empty, with hardly any meat inside. The wrap is often over-toasted to the point that it’s black and extremely crispy. My mixed poutine has also been very disappointing — hardly any meat or cheese. I even stirred it to see if maybe the meat was just sitting at the bottom, but there wasn’t. I’ll be attaching a picture to show how deceiving it looks versus what’s actually in it. It’s honestly a shame because this truly used to be my favourite place and the food used to be consistently amazing. I’m sharing this because I genuinely care and hope to see Amir return to the quality and service it once had. Also tried reaching out to them on FB no reply. As you can see in my poutine it’s not full there’s hardly any cheese and hardly any meat.. the potatoes also were over cooked the only good thing was the amount of gravy

I went to Amir yesterday. As soon as I entered I saw something that didn't belong on the counter. First time i went to this place I saw the owner touching the raw chicken and bring it to the front.. He didnt change glove and started Shawarma with the same gloves that he touched the raw chicken with.. I was observing him he never changed his gloves.. the he touched the potatoes aswell. I went a second time same thing touched money with glove and went to make shawarma.. I also ordered once for my bf a shawarma he got FP. Yesterday i saw the salad side half didnt have insert in and there was 4 salad or so left.. Nothing was covered NOTHING.. So whatever they used windex on... There is windex in all their sauces and the salad!! FYI: please be very aware how they handle your food.. Please when you go to a restaurant pay attention how they handle your food. You want to know if a restaurant kitchen is clean go look at the bathroom !! You will have your awnser !! If it's not clean or in order leave the restaurant. This is the Amir in Hawkesbury,Ontario. Again this is something that anyone should pay attention too !! If you don't want to get sick you need to not enter this restaurant

A Bit of a Rip-Off Paying just over $20 for a bowl here really doesn’t feel worth it. The portion of chicken and potatoes s surprisingly small, while the rest of the bowl is mostly filled with lettuce and a bit rice. For that price, it’s simply not competitive with other shawarma places. If you drive to Embrun or Vaudreuil, you can easily find places that give much better portions and value. Another issue is the inconsistency. Portions vary depending on who serves you. One employee might give a decent amount, while another gives much less. There doesn’t seem to be any measuring or standard for how much food goes into each bowl — they just throw things in quickly and move on. The price is the same but the quantity you get varies a great deal. Overall, the lack of portion control and the small amount of meat for the price makes it feel like poor value compared to other shawarma spots in the region.
