Review summary

What guests say about Ramen Youki

Ramen Youki is highly appreciated for its authentic ramen, flavorful broths, and warm service, with several customers saying it brought back a taste reminiscent of Japan. The atmosphere is often described as cozy and welcoming, and the side dishes as well as certain options like the vegan ramen, karaage, and dessert are also praised. A few reviews do mention somewhat small portions, cramped seating, and expectations that are sometimes high relative to the price or the depth of flavor.

Cha su was definitely not pork belly, but tough pieces of meat (seemed to be pork loin), tasting blend. Broth was suspiciously thick and salty, tasted somewhat partly artificial. Good service and nice ambiance. Nevertheless, I would not recommend.

Both the most authentic and best bowl of ramen I’ve had in Montreal. I had the Hiroshima Tonkotsu ramen. Broth is deep and full of flavour. Noodles were authentic and delicious. Anyone who misses authentic ramen from Japan, go here. The owner, Shinichi-san, is from Hiroshima, and he and his staff are incredibly warm and kind. Can’t wait to be back!

Pretty overrated, to be honest. The ramen was just okay — nothing special. The chashu pork could’ve been a bit leaner, though the flavor was decent. The saltiness really stood out, but the broth lacked the depth and complexity I was hoping for.

Very tasty and meaty karaage. I personally enjoyed the hot ramen (tonkotsu) more than the cold noodle, which the soup was very flavorful without being overly dense and had good portion of meat (cha shiu-like thickness). Even the bean sprout was well cooked - not raw and not soggy.

Very tasty ramen, and their service was excellent! Their Hojicha ice cream was another gem—it was so delicious that one wasn’t enough, so we had to order a second one. Definitely worth trying!

Ramen Youki has a great, cozy atmosphere that feels genuinely authentic the moment you walk in. This is their first overseas location of their main store in Hiroshima and the walls are lined with photos of their history. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant visit despite the kitchen running a bit slow on pacing when we were there right at opening. The small plates were the real stars of the meal. The wagyu sushi shot was tender and delicious, and the karaage was crisp and flavor-packed with a lipsmackingly good mayo dip. The ramen broth was just a bit different than what I expected based on the menu. Instead of a thick, rich tonkotsu, it comes across as a lighter, classic chuuka soba style. It is still an enjoyable bowl, just helpful to know what to expect if you are looking for a heavier pork broth. Overall, a lovely spot with great sides and a warm vibe. Not sure I'll be back with the long lines and wait, but it's definitely the most authentic ramen I've had in Montreal.

A good place to go if you miss Japan, the service is amazing, the ramen is delightful. I haven't tried it yet but they seem to have an amazing sake collection with some private imports as well

I’m a ramen snob. My opinion is that you will not find better ramen unless you go to Japan. The atmosphere is cool and people here are very friendly.

A charming, cozy little ramen spot with warm lighting, Japanese décor, and a welcoming Hiroshima-inspired atmosphere. The intimate setup gives it character, though seating is quite tight. The food was good but didn’t fully justify the price—two items came to nearly $50 after tax and tip—so come more for the atmosphere than exceptional value.

I visited tonight and was expecting the regular menu- but was surprised with an omakase by chef Hachi! :) Every single dish was well executed and paired with a wonderful sake. With every bite, I thought it couldn’t get better, but it did! It was an outstanding experience and I’m happy I got to try these special dishes as well as the ramens. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you for the wonderful time.

The Raman was not bad but it's a bit overrated. The Cha-Shu could be better, it was too dry and too lean. Not sure if this is Hiroshima stlye of Cha-Shu.

Staffs were friendly and I liked their appetizer and hojicha ice-cream, but the ramen itself didn’t taste much, but I do prefer strong flavors tonkotsu ramen. Noodle is on the softer side as well, might be great for people like lighter ramen but not for me.

Tasty new Ramen restaurant that opened, their broth and noodles are great, service is authentic and friendly. Karaage is delicious.Seating is a tight bit limited. Food is a bit pricey for the portion you get, but it’s great in terms of taste. I recommend to try this place if you are looking for new Ramen experiences in Montreal.

Best Ramen we had outside of Japan! We are both vegan and tried the cold sesame ramen, which was the perfect balance of umami, freshness, savory, spicy… we can’t wait to come back! The shiitake onigiri was amazing too, and they had great non-alcoholic beers!

If you want to know what the art of Japanese cuisine and attention to service, this is the place. The ramen is perfected as well as appetizers. The owner is there to welcome you on your way out, and greets you to the door with a smile. The staff is amazing and friendly and are both efficient in their service as well as being able to have a good conversation with you. I recommend you have an Asahi that is poured masterfully with their machine that sets the perfect amount of food. I would also go with the chefs Hiroshima ramen dish upgraded with the Mega feature and take time to add the spicy miso and garlic. Worth the detour in Montréal for some authentic Japanese Ramen, and I will be a regular on hot and cold days. ありがとうございます
