Have you ever had one of those “Where have you been all my life?!” culinary and cultural moments? Arouch - and the MOST lovely Sona - left me with that feeling yesterday. First, it was the combination of lemon, mint, and zahtar - bright, savory, and deeply comforting all at once - that turned a simple meal into something quietly unforgettable. But beyond the *incredible* dining experience, it was meeting and having the opportunity to speak with Sona that made the visit so beautifully special: her warmth, her stories, and her pride in Armenian culture made me feel both welcomed to Montreal and connected to a wider, generous global community. As a recent Quebec transplant, I felt seen, exceptionally (!) well-fed, and genuinely at home, and I’m already looking forward to coming back, both for the lahmajoun and for another chance to say thank you to such a gracious ambassador of Armenian hospitality and Montreal’s welcome. 💕🙏🏼
