The absolute best restaurant in Montreal and honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The selection of dishes was extremely unique with various small plates. The interior was beautiful too.
What guests say about Pichai - Restaurant Thai
Pichai is often praised for its flavorful, bold, and original dishes, with several customers also appreciating the cocktails, wine list, and warm atmosphere. Service is often described as attentive and welcoming, though a few reviews mention unpleasant servers or a service pace that feels too rushed. Note: some find the portions small and the prices high, and several reviews mention that the dishes can be very salty, very spicy, or sometimes inconsistent.

The food is so salty that it is bitter to the tongue. If you are a fan of very salty food, it’s a spot to consider. However, the restaurant’s service and ambiance is top notch.
Wow, where to start. Overall a fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend the mushroom salad and the raw scallops and pork belly were good as well. What really stood out in our experience was not specifically the service of our waitress but of the support staff. The bussers, the pass, and even hosts were all very kind and I think speaks highly about what kind of operation they are running at Pichai. I can't wait to come back to try more things.
Terrible food and poor service. The grilled pork collar was overwhelmingly salty and spicy. I let the server know and asked if the dish could be adjusted to make it less salty and less spicy. She simply said, “Unfortunately, no,” and walked away. Overall, every dish we had was too salty and heavily over-seasoned. The spices completely overpowered the main ingredients, so it was hard to taste the actual flavor of the food. Very disappointing experience, especially given the reputation and price point.
This venue is absolutely wonderful and boasts an amazing selection of things for everyone to see. No matter your preferences, you can find something that catches your eye. The entire environment feels warm, cheerful, and kind. The staff is consistently prompt and helpful. I look forward to making another visit here to see the rest.
Good atmosphere and service. The food was good but not memorable. The pork belly was extremely salty even when wrapped with the cabbage.
Great food and drinks, probably best if you can tolerate spicy foods and peanuts - as with most Thai places!
This was my second visit, and it was just as delicious as my first! Each dish has unique flavors and fresh ingredients. Can't wait for my next trip to Montreal so I can visit again.
Absolutely superb Thai restaurant, excellent food and friendly staff. The shaved mint choc ice is a must!
Rude and obnoxious servers. Ignorance and attitude instead of service. I was embarrassed to have brought my young son for dinner here. If I was dining alone I would have given these ignorant people a piece of my mind. Awful experience. Never to return.
Food did not live up to the hype. Everything was overly salty I couldn’t taste the Thai flavours from all the salt they added. Patio server also did everything but serve us. Not once did she check on us the whole time we were there and made us feel basically invisible. Really unfortunate because I’ve always had such a great experience at Pumpui Restaurant (same establishment).
Incredible Thai street food style restaurant in Montreal. Came here on the recommendation of a friend - it’s a bit out of the way if you are staying in old town or downtown - but easy to get to with the metro and worth the journey. Had a variety of dishes - Laab Ped (duck ) was a surprising favorite. Amazing natural wine list with a great by the glass selection. Ambiance is a bit hectic but fun - definitely a bit of a hidden gem for a tourist but highly recommended!
All dishes flavorful and delicious, panang curry and fried chickpea with cauli salad were standouts. I'll be back to try the whole menu and whatever's in rotation. Highly recommend. Good service, cute place. chairs are firm, not cushioned.
Food was actually just terrible. Not Thai cuisine at all, not one Thai server/chef in sight, so I guess we should've left. The dishes marked spicy weren't even remotely spicy, so that should tell you enough. Each dish is upwards of 30-40$, server expected us (2 people) to order up to 5 dishes. Extremely small portions, for example the duck salad (see picture), they give you tiny pieces of ground duck and then just leafage. On top of that, it wasn't even good, unless you enjoy chewing on unseasoned herb and leaves. You will leave there hungry and disappointed and feeling scammed. Leaving this review so the people who actually want Thai food avoid this place.
So hot and cold for outdoor
Extremely overpriced
We had a great time and the ordering was so simple. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was delicious and the overall experience was just lovely. I will certainly come back to try new things. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful time out.
Great food, good ambiance, good service. We enjoyed the tasting menu
Loved everything (I think we ordered the whole menu ;) )
Food was amazing. Scary lurking ghost was in the window.
Dined at Pichai on the last night of our weekend trip to Montreal - it was the highlight of our trip. The Atmosphere: warm, full our colors, life, and small hidden details wherever you look. Great music and vibe overall. The Service: we didn’t have a reservation and were able to get a seat at the bar for 2. Our primary server (a brunette man wearing a shirt saying “piano”) was welcoming, knowledgeable, and gave us great recommendations. He guided us through the menu and continued to make sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. There was ~6 other front of house staff in the restaurant at the time, everyone of which interacted with us at some point in our meal, from water service, refreshing out cutlery and plates, and small quality checks throughout the service made for an amazing dining experience. Big applause to the service staff for their attention to detail. The Food: no notes whatsoever. We ordered 5 dishes, plus dessert to share amongst 2 people and that was the perfect amount of food. Each dish was perfectly created with a variety of elements that all complemented each other perfectly. We had the scallop crudo, tapioca dumplings, soft boiled egg, pork belly, red curry, and Thai tiramisu. Thank you to everyone at Pichai, I will be telling everyone I know about this restaurant.
Great vibes, serves and food. Totally worth the money. Our food was excellent - including tofu that melts in your mouth and curry that is sweet, spicy and savory. Amazing.
Used to love this place but it's really gone downhill.
I had heard a lot about this place from my friends and finally had to try it so I went this weekend and it was amazing. The food is amazing. The bread and the fish and the chicken is so good. Oh my God the flour is and the spice are perfect. I love this kind of food. They also took my suggestions and made some personalizations and changes so I am very happy about that.
10/10 every single time. Favourite restaurant in Montreal and best Thai in the country! so. much. flavour. Dishes are to share! You won’t find your typical pad Thai, pad see eew or green curry on the menu. If you want to try a bunch of things I recommend doing the chef’s choice which includes appetizers, mains and dessert. They send out a variety of items from their regular menu and specials, and can also accommodate dietary restrictions. It’s plenty of food - you can expect to be walking out with leftovers and a veryyyyy happy tummy. Favourites are the mushroom salad (omg), chickpea tofu, panang curry, massaman curry and Thai tea tiramisu.
