The fast food of PHO soups and grilled plates. Food is good and the prices also. The service is fast but not great after. Getting water is a hard ask apparently... the way some respond was insulting as 1 of them never answered back and brought water or anything useful... and yes he speaks English but didn't feel like answering maybe? Or had a bad day? Idk... but not great. Same guy always like that... young one. But the others are fine. So if ya don't care, you served fast and eat cheap with decent food. I do suggest this place.

Favourite pho place in the city!
Great place to grab some casual pho in downtown Montreal
Best Pho in town....17.5$ tax in for extra large...
The food is excellent, fresh and fragrant! Many options are good across the board and the price is RIGHT - will definitely come back again
Horrible and borderline scary experience. They evade tax by only accepting cash. I usually don’t support these types of bu. We didn’t know this and went there with cards and some cash. After we offered all the cash we had which was around %10 and the waiter blocked the exit and with the rudest attitude called us cheap and shouted. We understand tips are a prominent part of a server’s income and him asking for more tip would’ve been ok with a non-insulting tone. This was surreal and obnoxious. Food is average pho.
Absolute horrible service. They just take cash and their atm didn’t provide any change. After giving all the change we had as tip we got hounded by the waiter who kept saying “ we are required to pay him tip “ and the only tip he wanted to accept was just cash. Have been coming here for quite some time , but this horrible rude tone for not having change is insane. Now I can see why it was empty on a Friday evening. Food is mid but service will ruin your whole night .
Worst customer service EVER. The server put on a fight to get extra tip and had the audacity to make a scene about it. He followed us out of the restaurant by shouting « 15% tip is obligatory » with a very intimidating tone and not letting us go. Initially we couldn’t tip more as this horrible of place doesn’t accept any sort of banking payment and just has a sketchy ATM with big bills, so we just tipped all our small bills. NEVER going back there. Food is meh and the service is awful. The other server had a racist comment towards my friend as well.
Excellent
TLDR: Pho Bang New York is run by a predatory owner who thinks it's acceptable to psychologically manipulate, intimidate, bully and extort money from a 12 years old child. 0/5, the worst, most morally bankrupt place to ever exist, an absolute disgrace of an establishment My son saw this restaurant while i was lining up for another restaurant on the opposite side of the street (Lan Zhou Noodles) so he wanted to go in because it was empty and he felt bad for it. BIG MISTAKE. There's a reason why there was no customers inside, because it's terrible and the people owning this place are the worst, morally corrupt people to ever exist, i hope this place fails and the owners get terrible fates that they deserve. The music is blasting so loud you can't even think straight, the waiter was rude and unprofessional the whole time. food was mid at best, not worth a single cent. the atmosphere alone ruined the appetite. So when he got to the counter to pay he didn't want to leave a tip because why would you, the service was terrible, and honestly the food isn't even worth the price, it's literal dogwater. Then the cashier looked down at him, and has the audacity to tell say "it's customary to leave a tip, the expected tip is 15%." in a condescending, rude manner, pressuring a literal child into tipping. He was intimidated by the tall man at the counter and ended up giving him all the change he got, money he wanted to save as pocket money. I only learned about it after getting back home when i was wondering why he seemed so down today. My son suggested to come in out of pity for your empty restaurant and you repaid him by extorting and intimidating a child into giving you money, scamming him out of his pocket money. that is genuinely disgusting behavior and i hope everyone reading this knows what kind of people are running this place. do NOT go here, especially not with kids.
Solid pho!
!!!They change the price as you pay!! Cash only they don’t tell you - we were here for an hour and not one mention. ATM looks sketchy and said it was “updating my account” before it gave an error message. Also took over 30 mins for my girlfriend’s plate to come out while the other dishes already came. Was told that it’s not necessary to tell customers that it’s cash only which in my opinion is disrespectful to your clients. Better pho restaurants in the neighbourhood.
cash only but they won’t tell you that. sketchy atm that scans your bank account. rude waiter, rude cashier, no veggie options and one dish took 30 mins longer than everything else. avoid!! many better places nearby. the server made a scene, embarrassed us, they tried to take my phone and put information in my banking app. so inappropriate and so rude. would never ever come back here and will be telling everybody i know to avoid this place. at the end they tacked 7 dollars onto the total they gave us.
Pho is okay not that authentic . Keep in mind that they don’t accept credit card payment which is quite inconvenient for tourist like me
They're forcing tips, and their food is so unseasoned, lacks of salt. Im a student and they were not letting me leave without tipping when did this become the US. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
The beef soup Pho is a little stink but okay. The owner is nice but The server with the facial hair is very rude.
The food was unseasoned and bland. The presentation might look nice, but don’t be fooled, it was a HUGE disappointment. The customer service was just as bad as the food. They demanded tips and wouldn’t let us leave without tipping, even ridiculing us for not wanting to. Why should I tip for poor service? Overall, the experience was horrible. You’re honestly getting scammed.
Absolute trash service and disgusting tip culture. I went the first time and since they only accept cash and didn’t have enough to give them an 18% tip the second time I went they took revenge. Gave us 40% less of the portions every other customer got and were super rude the entire time. Never go here.
Bun Bo Hue was good. It was worth the wait.
The only upside is that the food has small formats available. Customer service was horrible, I got asked 3 times to leave tip even if I already left some. And they only take cash!! At some point I got scared. I will never go back to this place.
Although the food is alright, the service really left a sour taste in my mouth. One of their waiter was rude when I ate there. I left some tip at the cashier but a little less since I was not satisfied with the service. But they had the audacity to harass us for more tip after we paid, saying that we didn't leave any... Coupled with the fact that they only take cash (which I normally don't let bother me) but this was just too much. I won't ever go back to this place after this interaction.
Horrible service and asked for a tip after, embarrassing
The food is fresh and delicious, but the service was terrible. The staff were rude and made the experience uncomfortable. What bothered me the most was being pressured to pay a tip of over 15% in a cash-only restaurant.
I recently visited this establishment and had an extremely unpleasant experience regarding their tipping practices. After paying at the counter, I left a $1 tip, which is a standard courtesy for counter service. Shockingly, the staff member followed me to my table, returned the money, and explicitly told me that a "dollar is too cheap." This level of tip-shaming and aggressive entitlement is completely unacceptable. It is deeply disappointing to experience this kind of unprofessional behavior, which not only ruins the reputation of this specific restaurant but also leaves a terrible impression of the hospitality culture in Quebec and Canada as a whole. Harassing a customer over a voluntary counter tip is simply pathetic. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to be aware of this attitude before visiting.
Delicious Pho, cheap prices, and a pleasant atmosphere. The grilled chicken pho was superb
