Reviews / Ratings for Petit Poisson Dumpling
The space is a bit small but very cozy. It’s divided lengthwise into two sections: one side is the kitchen, the other is the dining area. There are only about 4–5 tables for two or four people, plus a counter seating area. It’s an open kitchen, so you can watch them making dumplings right in front of you. Everything looks neat and clean. The place gets pretty busy, both at lunch and dinner. I first came here last year and have been back a few times since. It’s definitely busier now, but the quality has stayed consistent. I always order one soup dumpling and one fried dumpling. The soup dumplings are juicy and flavorful. The fried ones have a crispy bottom that’s really satisfying to bite into. The real star (according to my partner, and I agree) is the chili oil. It’s $2 for a small bowl and totally worth it: fragrant, spicy, and perfect with the dumplings. The staff are constantly working. Usually there’s one person folding dumplings right near the entrance, two servers handling orders, and one person on the line. Everyone seems focused and organized. They seat guests quickly, clear tables fast, take orders smoothly, and even recommend dishes to nearby tables. Friendly, efficient, and hardworking. Definitely worth trying. My partner and I keep coming back whenever we visit Montreal, he’s a big fan. It’s a great spot for anything from a casual hangout to a date night, or even a solo meal.
nah fam, saw a roach
Had dinner at Petit Poisson Dumpling last night and we love their new interior design. They changed their menu as well and we got to taste some delicious dishes, like their fried mushrooms, beef saté, various kinds of dumplings and chocolate mousse dessert. We were served by Robin, who was super friendly and suggested some amazing sake to us. We'll be back for sure!
I'm sorry but the new menu really is not a good idea. It's just... not that good and really generic. Please bring back the old, unique dumpling menu!
Food was extremely delicious, but I wish the stir fry dishes came with a little bit of rice. Rice is cheap so I don't really see why it should not be provided and it would enhance the meal. It felt like they may have been a bit understaffed, the tables were all full, and only 2 servers. It was very strange that although the order went in together, all the dishes came out at separate times, the kitchen should definitely learn to plan the dishes to be sent out together so that one person's dish doesn't get cold while they wait for the rest, the first dish came out around 15 minutes before the last person's
The decor transports you fully. The food was amazing we absolutely loved their fried dumplings and their chocolate mousse was insanely airy and light. The prices were great and the service was friendly and fast.
A wonderfully relaxing environment with heart-warming food on a cold day!
Truly disappointed by this new rebrand, the menu completely changed to only 4 dumplings options and the rest of the menu is a waste of money. We ordered beef fried rice and stir fried squid. No beef visible and 18$ for 5 small pieces of overly oily, rubbery, greasy squid. Also, it was my first time seeing celery in a chinese stir fried meal. Im sorry but no one wants to eat warm, raw and greasy celery sticks. The shrimp balls starter expecting fish cakes style balls and they served shrimps with a thick batter coat drenched in mayo. Very sad this beloved dumpling restaurant turned into a trendy, gentrified chinese restaurant. Save your money and skip this place.
Amazing. 11/10. I have no idea what magic they're cooking up, but it is excellent. Go and check it out.
