Food is great. Services needs a bit of more work but it is understandable since the place is always packaged. The line up was long and the space is a bit tight.
Reviews / Ratings for Nouilles de Lan Zhou
We lucked out and got a table when we walked in. The broth and noodles were amazing! The food came very quickly. We choose two small soups and one medium and they were huge! We ended up bringing home leftovers. Definitely recommend!
Great noodles!!! Busy place but the worth the wait.
Prepare to wait in line during rush hour but trust me. 110% worth it every single time. The divine smell alone walking by the restaurant should tell you everything you need to know. 10/10 everytime I eat there. Highly recommend
We had an enjoyable lunch at Nouilles de Lanzhou, a restaurant specializing in authentic Lanzhou-style hand-pulled noodles in Montreal’s Chinatown. This restaurant specializes in traditional Chinese hand-pulled noodles and braised beef noodle soup. The noodles are traditionally made fresh for each order. Visitors can watch the noodle-making process through the window. The menu features a variety of affordable options like signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, Braised Beef Tendon Noodles, Dan Dan Noodles and side dishes such as Spicy Cucumber Salad, Edamame and Seaweed Potato Salad are also available. We ordered the Traditional LanZhou Hand-pull Beef Noodle and Zha Jiang Noodle with Homemade Pork Sauce. Both noodles tasted delicious and flavourful. They noodles tasted fresh with a chewy texture and the broth was light and savoury.
They put the food in the to go box for me
So delicious, we'll be back
good but long line
The noodles are great and though the waiting time is pretty long, the cause for it is reasonable. However, the staff are unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Not only do they not acknowledge the customers talking to them and roll their eyes when asked to get the bill, they demand you tip them a high percentage for that service. If you don’t, they’re going to toss the receipt in your face and tell you to go to Tim Hortons next time you want to eat.
When we first came across this noodle shop, there was a size able line at the entrance. The wait is around 30 minutes at 1pm to get inside. When you get inside, you can see the noodles being made, which is cool! The seating inside is modern and sleek, giving a very cozy fleeting with the stone tiles and walls. With being very clean. Especially the bathroom. Even though seating is small, it is very comfortable. But I suggest big families come ahead of time to find a table. I ordered the vegetable noodle soup, with edamame with preserved vegetable coming out first. Which I gotta say came out with very little persevered vegetable and more just edamame alone. It took 20 min for food to come out. The presentation could’ve been a little better. But the soup broth was very flavorful! I would say though I ordered the small size soup. But the amount of noodles I got were so much! So if you have a light stomach be sure to order small or get ready to take some home! The noodles were rich as well, but the soup lacked many vegetable or plant protein. But that’s to be expected from a noodle specialty shop. I say if you’re vegan or vegetarian expect a lot of soft tender noodles, and I mean a lot. Also for the vegetable soup, it comes with an egg. You can request to not have it. Overall if you like noodles you’ll like this place, but your expecting the soup to have tons of vegetables this isn’t the place
I'm craving the soup from my first time trying it 🤤
Amazing noodles and flavor. I had the beef brisket soup, sort of like a Chinese Pho. The noodles are customizable and hand made and the flavor there really shows. Overall flavor is fairly simple but tasty. There are not a lot of options overall, essentially just noodles/soup. Atmosphere is good overall as well, not a bad spot for a date or meetup, though not so great for larger groups. Place is busy and packed but for good reason.
They never answer the phone
Absolutely delicious food. Walked in unsure what to expect and will definitely be back!
Great noodle spot. My first time going. They are quick and efficient. The broth is really great. The beef tender. Price is reasonable for a small! Would return
The food was excellent, huge portions. Nice to watch how the noodles were made at the feont of the house. Cucumber salad was spicy with nuts. I got a medium bowl and ate 1/4 of it. Very busy with 2 servers. Nowhere to stand while waiting and kept blocking wait staff. Cloths to wipe tables were left on a pile of menus and a few times dropped on the floor, then conveniently moved to abother location and not changed out. Didn't know we had to pay in the front and waited for our bill to arrive. We were told to get up because we had waited so long for the bill. Would i go again? Yes, but probably will not return to Montréal for a while.
Food is A+++, the rest not so much, service staff is brash and unpleasant, seating is so cramped that you end up forced to be part of the conversation happening at the table next to you (2 inches away), which ruins the experience for everyone involved, and you pay a fee for getting your food to go, which I've never seen anywhere (isn't avoiding food waste in everyone's interest?). We weren't even told there was a fee when asking for it, in which case we probably wouldn't have tried to save barely 1.5 cups of broth that we were taking with us just to avoid throwing it in the trash. Fitting as many people as possible inside while compromising comfort, being curt and borderline rude to polite customers, and charging a hidden fee for takeout all feel very scummy. Manages to leave a bad taste in your mouth after some exceptional food, a shame.
Just really good. You gotta try this place.
10/10, totally get the hype now
We must’ve got in at just the right time as we only had to wait maybe 5 minutes to be seated. (Line was out the door when we left) Room was even made for our baby stroller. The food came out in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious. The broth and noodles were incredible. My husband and I both got the combo 1 and I got size one noodles as I don’t like a chewy noodle and got a small amount of spice and it was perfect the noodles where soft and broth was delicious with a slight spice. My husband likes a chewy noodle and got size 3, he liked it and said he could’ve gone even bigger on the noodle. 10/10 a must try in Chinatown.
Delicious noodles, worth the wait. Quick service and I love watching them make the noodles through the front window.
Very crowded place and cramped, service was very rushed, but what can you do when the food is good and affordable? Perfect place for popping in and out for a quick meal.
Great food, a real experience. I recommended the weekend special or Dan Dan. Noddle size 3.
Fast and efficient service, once you done the line up haha, the taste stays the same time after time. Alone, with a special someone or with friends it's all good.
Great place for hand pulled noodles. You can watch them go through the process at the front. The place was crazy busy when we showed up so get in line and be patient because it moves fast. Everything we had was good and you can order your preferred noodle size. Great place for a quick lunch.
