The food was fantastic! Night started great. Minor hiccups as my drink was forgotten and had a long hair in my food. I am not one to fuss so these little details did not bother me. What ruined the night was when my wife went to pay and tried to put in a custom tip. the waitress snatched the machine back and restarted the transaction explaining to my wife that the tip was not included. My wife proceeded to re-enter the custom tip, the waitress asked if thats all she was putting. My wife said yes. The waitress stormed off leaving another waiter to retrieve the machine. At this point I was quite annoyed. A minute later I see the waitress at the bar out loud complaining to her coworkers about the amount tipped. This really put a damper on my experience.

I am a regular here, but today we waited over 1 hour and a half for our meal... with 4 hungry kids at the table. When we inquired about the delay, we were told we could have a free desert but that the manager was on the phone and couldn't speak to us. Our meals were basic and yet very expensive. Disappointed.

Wow amazing food! Little slow but totally worth the wait! The lamb medium is tender and juicy just perfect. Add pepprcorn sauce to the sweet potato mash is hmm.. a taste of happiness! Highly recommend

What a beautiful & cozy restaurant with a menu that caters to all ! It was our first time but definitely not our last, shared the French onion soup, the garlic bread with cheese (do yourself a favor and try it) the ceaser salad, and prime rib sandwich which was awesome 👌 Denis' attentive service was highly appreciated, really loves what he does & it shows !

It had been more than 35 years since I had stepped foot inside here. I can only describe the ambiance as stepping back in time into a house that feels like home. Thank you all for the wonderful evening.

This was such a pleasant surprise. We stopped for gas at the Shell station off the Transcanada heading from NB to ON. We travel with a 35' RV and finding good restaurants while on the road are usually relegated to fast food. We noticed the sign and the parking lot had a huge gravel space for two RVs if needed. The meals were generously portioned and reasonably priced. In thr high inflationary times, two adults had a salad, two mains two cold drinks and a latte for under a $100!!!! The portions were so large that we took half of our dinners home for lunch the next day! Unbelievable! Food was excellent fresh made, and lots of fresh veggies which is so appreciated where other restaurants are serving frozen vegetables. All wait staff were pleasant, attentive and efficient. The have a lovely garden terrace but unfortunately due to some rain we ate inside. Would love to come back when the fireplace is on. A lovely historical home, now being enjoyed by this generation. Reservations recommended!

This place has good reviews so I expected a lot from it and was very disappointed. We were a party of 3 for lunch. 2 of us had the fish and chips which was highly recommended. Fish and chips are greasy, I know this. But this was so greasy that when you cut into it grease bubbled up on the surface of the batter. The fries were cold. We shared a $13 carrot cake for desert and it was mushy, like it had been in the fridge for days. I’m sorry to give such a well loved place a bad review but it was honestly terrible. Would not recommend.

Not the least expensive restaurant nor the closest, but we'll worth the trip and treat. Onion soup and fish & chips are awesome. The roast beef is out of this world. Wide selection of local and imported beers on tap also

Amazing experience , we shared 2 appetizers, spinach salad and the escargot gratin, a bottle of Rioja, and a bigger size prime rib eye. Much recommended if you are in the area.

It’s always nice to go back to this place whenever I’m in the area, food and service is excellent. That old rustic look has a feeling of warmth and comfort. Only negative is the trip downstairs to the washrooms.. whoa those carpets need replacing.

⭐️Extremely Disappointing Experience Honestly, one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve had in a long time, especially considering we were there to celebrate our anniversary. Our reservation was for 8:00 p.m. in one of the private rooms upstairs, which we were told had a two-hour limit. Despite that, we weren’t seated until approximately 8:30 p.m. There was no apparent reason for the delay, considering the reservation before ours should have ended around 7:30. We decided to let it go and hoped the rest of the evening would make up for it. Unfortunately, things only got worse. I ordered a Bloody Caesar, and it arrived warm. I had to ask for extra ice, and it honestly tasted like there was barely any alcohol in it. Before our main courses arrived, I ordered a second Caesar and specifically asked that it be made cold. It was colder, but once again, it tasted like there was little to no alcohol in it. We ordered chicken wings and nachos as appetizers, to share with friends which were probably the highlight of the meal. I also ordered a cream of mushroom soup, but unfortunately, the amount of pepper was so overwhelming that all you could taste was spice. It was completely inedible, so I sent it back. Then came the main courses. I ordered a rib steak, blue rare, with salt and pepper, and fries. My husband ordered an 8 oz filet mignon, medium, with mashed potatoes. When our meals arrived, the steaks came with the wrong sides. I received mashed potatoes instead of fries, and my husband received fries instead of mashed potatoes. Rather than make an issue out of it, we simply switched the steaks between our plates. However, we then realized the steaks themselves were cooked incorrectly. My rib steak, which should have been blue rare, was cooked medium. My husband’s filet which he ordered medium, was cooked rare. Neither of us could eat our steaks. Our friends weren’t having much better luck. One ordered a chicken brochette that was so dry that she ended up dipping it into the sour cream from our nachos just to make it edible. Another friend ordered a salad with fruit, nuts and chicken. The salad itself looked fine, but she said the chicken was rubbery. We were then told that we wouldn’t be charged for the two steaks. Well, of course we weren’t—we couldn’t eat them because they weren’t prepared as ordered. What really bothered me was that they still charged us for the drinks. Considering the overall experience—the delayed seating, the warm first Caesar, the second Caesar that still tasted like it contained virtually no alcohol, the inedible soup, and the incorrectly prepared steaks—waiving the drinks would have been a genuine gesture of goodwill. Not charging us for two meals we couldn’t eat is simply the bare minimum. Because it was our anniversary, they eventually brought us a piece of cake. Unfortunately, it was stale. And honestly, I didn’t really want it anyway, since I hadnt eaten dinner and originally planned on ordering my own dessert after dinner. At this point, it wasn’t about one mistake. It was the combination of everything that made the evening so disappointing. We came to celebrate our anniversary and spend a nice evening with friends. Instead, we dealt with a delayed seating, poorly prepared drinks, an inedible soup, incorrectly cooked steaks, dry and rubbery food, and stale cake. Mistakes happen in restaurants. That’s understandable. What matters is how those mistakes are handled and whether the restaurant makes an effort to turn the experience around. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel that happened here. Very disappointing experience. We came for a special occasion and left wishing we had chosen somewhere else. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

We were travelling to and from Ottawa and liked the place so much we stopped both ways. We sat outside on the back patio and had a great lunch both ways! The food was awesome and the staff was very attentive!

Mon Village has a beautiful setting, and the moment you step inside you're welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere. The food was excellent and absolutely lived up to our expectations. The only thing that held the experience back was the service. It was friendly, but not particularly attentive, and there were several long stretches where we found ourselves waiting to catch our server's attention. That said, this was just one lunch visit, and it's entirely possible they were a little short-staffed that day. The rest of the team certainly made a great impression. Whenever we asked another staff member for assistance, they were quick, helpful, and happy to jump in. And the carrot cake... just wow. To quote my beautiful lunch date: "It's perfect for two people who want to eat a lot of carrot cake." She wasn't wrong. It's enormous, absolutely delicious, and worth saving room for. Don't leave without trying a slice.

As usual we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the very pleasant atmosphere. That is the reason we make the trip from Montreal Our only suggestion is the darkness of the entrance hall. We understand the extra power needed to run more lights is not possible but suggest the use of battery operated motion sensors might just be the answer BON APPETIT TO ALL!
