Went for dinner and tried a little bit of everything and it did not disappoint!! Every side we ordered was amazing and the star of the show the Alexandre rotisserie chicken was flavourful and juicy.

What a find. Had a high school friend and his sister come in from Alberta to visit their dad who lived down the street. We decided to go out for drinks and I hadn't had supper yet so I found this place on Google Maps. Looked good, for the area. Well, we were shocked when we got there. The place was packed and it was not a small dining room. The ambiance was spot on. We were only two at first but it was just as well because we had to be persistant just to get two seats at the bar. And they weren't kidding. There was a non stop stream of people coming in all night untill we left and there was still a line up then. You'll see about the food when you get here and then understand why it's so busy. One special mention was our waiter. Top notch. He knew and undertood the menu like he had chosen and cooked the food himself and the wine like he had studied to be a somalier. Can't wait for my friend to come back. This time we'll reserve well in advance.

The food is really, really good. The service was awesome and I dont remember the name of the server but it was his third day yesterday evening. Thanks for your patience. I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to try the brunch menu.

All style, no substance. Served a half sandwich for 22$. The only saving grace were the doughnuts. Probably wouldn't go back again.

Good atmosphere and good service. One of the few restaurants with a lot of space so it’s very family friendly

Rotisserie chicken was great. Schnitzel WAY over cooked; to the point that it was tough. The side salad was good, but the Parker House rolls were hard. The cocktails were delicious and service great.

We swung into McKiernan for lunch with no reservation, fully expecting to be punished for our spontaneity. Instead, parking was easy, the place was packed, and they sat us immediately with a one‑hour limit — which is honestly the perfect amount of time to eat, judge, and leave before your optimism wears off. The Vibe A stunning space — huge hall, vintage floors, and that polished industrial look that sets the bar high before the food even arrives. The Food For a restaurant built on rotisserie comfort and house‑made pasta, the execution didn’t match the branding. * Poulet Entier ($51) — Dry white meat at a rotisserie‑forward spot is a miss. The gravy leaned so hard on butter it felt like the only flavor note. * Choux de Bruxelles — Burnt exterior overshadowing a genuinely good sauce. * Linguine Scampi ($30) — A surprisingly tiny portion for house‑made pasta. Scampi were small, and the dish relied almost entirely on butter. * Bonne Frites — Straightforward and solid. * Donuts — The Tiramisu donut was the only item with real personality.

Came here for brunch today. Ordered the beetroot salad with ricotta, it was very fresh and tasty, coffee was great and got a snitzel sandwich. Music was nostalgic and fun (elton john, the beatles….) and vibe was great for families and couples. Something that inspired me to write this review is the hospitality that we received from all the staff. The staff were all so welcoming and in a good mood and it makes a huge difference these days. I came in with my service dog Mila, and normally when I go to restaurants with her I feel treated less than. Given the undesirable tables in the restaurant and made feel lesser than or a burden for being there with my dog. But not at McKiernan’s. Here not only me but Mila was respected and we felt more than welcomed. So I just want to say an extra thank you for that.

Very disappointing experience at McKiernan on my birthday night. This was actually my fourth time coming here, which is exactly why I chose this place for my birthday night. Previous experiences were always acceptable, but tonight’s service completely ruined the evening. Before reserving, I carefully checked the website, OpenTable, and Instagram. Nowhere was there any mention of a “no cake policy” or a $5 per person cake charge. We were 6 people, and I simply brought a small birthday cake to have after dinner with tea. First, the receptionist refused the cake completely. Then suddenly after “speaking to the manager,” they decided they could allow it… but only if they charged $5 per person. So apparently the policy is flexible when there’s extra money involved. Honestly, it felt cheap, unprofessional, and extremely poorly handled. If these rules exist, write them clearly online instead of surprising customers at the door on special occasions. The food was mediocre this time, the service was disappointing, and the entire experience left a bad impression. As someone who used to recommend this place, I definitely will not be returning.

Never understood why the restau is almost always soldout whenever I tried to go as a walk-in. Now I can tell why and how, I had a wonderful experience at McKiernan, nothing to complain about. The food is fresh&delicious, the waiters were courteous, the place is beautiful especially at night, competitive price and plenty of space for parking. I will definitely come back, this place is a must go

I like the ambiance and the atmosphere here, very comfortable to eat and chit chat. The service and the food are all very great. Price is compatible with the quality and the portions are HUGE, we have 4 dishes for 2 people and were so full after all. Would recommend to everyone, this is my fav place to eat so far in Montréal! 😍

Fantastic food, posh atmosphere but for the everyday person also. Unique menu items. Service was very slow but when it was busy. Later as it got quieter the service was quicker and more attentive. Had very good specialty shot drink recommended by our waiter from France. Not rushed by staff to finish and leave, took our time to chat.

My wife and I visited McKiernan many times since they opened, and the experience has been consistently excellent. Whether it’s a date night, a gathering with friends, or a casual bite with a buddy at the bar tonight, the quality never misses. The food is always outstanding, the desserts are exceptional, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between lively and comfortable. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommend this place truly stands out for its consistency and overall experience.

Hidden gem of a restaurant. I went today with a friend and everything was delicious. The Brussels sprouts were incredible and an absolute must-order. We also had the trout and the chicken, both were excellent, but the chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. For dessert, we had the lemon pie, which was amazing. They also have a great selection of filled beignets that are definitely worth trying. What stood out the most was the service. The staff was warm, attentive, patient, and happy to answer questions. Great food, great service, great experience. I’ll definitely be back!

I visited for happy hour/ dinner time with some friends. Nice space, efficient staff and interesting menu. Food was good and service as well. I think it's a good location and it's definitely a gem for the neighborhood if you are looking for a polished, old feel vibe with a great experience.
