Was absolutely fabulous and on top of it the server Dimitri went above and beyond to make our experience even better will definitely be coming back
4$ tea and coffee served in an espresso cup is wild
Extremely disappointed with the experience here, especially considering the 'high-end' branding. Our group was forced onto a set menu for no apparent reason, which felt like a blatant move to impose a mandatory 18% gratuity. The service was nowhere near that level. We were left waiting for 15+ minutes at a time for our waitress and eventually had to track down other staff members ourselves just to get basic attention. Paying a premium tip for service that was essentially non-existent is unacceptable. Good atmosphere , but the management and service logic are completely off the mark
Service is nice and pleasant but somewhat slow. I would have still given 5 stars but the food was so underwhelming. Chicken wasn't bad but quite dry and the sauce was ok at best. Buttery and low on flavor. The ribs are the reason I am commenting here. Worst i've ever had. Felt like cardboard. The brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing, I'll give them that... Everything else was bland and overall not great. Would be ok at half the price.
Staff is nice 👍 That being said, I had a few issues with my experience: When crowded, due to the high ceiling, large open space, it becomes difficult to hear each other. Furthermore, the menu is misleading, take for example the schnitzel option, not much description about what it is, but when served, there's a sunny-side up egg on top of it and a few smoked anchovies on top of it (I strongly dislike anchovies and would have never picked this item having known) It is rare that I find menus like this but comon! Let's stop menus with hidden items. This is not a game, the menu should properly describe what you're getting, don't give it a silly name, just describe the ingredients please!
This resto is an hidden gem. Everything I tasted was amazing. Their chicken and schnitzel are Incredibles. The secret is their sauces. And the desserts, you will want to bring some at home
Loooove the donuts, food and decor. Huge windows also add to the ambiance. The Parker House rolls are incredible.
Amazing food! Sauces are flavourful and nicely done. The rotisserie chicken and donuts are a must. The menu cold sell the food better, first time was difficult to decide the order because I didn't know the dish ingredients.
The all you can eat Brunch was fabulous!!! The service was very slow but , the staff were very helpful and gracious. P.S. they
Really good food with a simple menu.. these guys know what they're doing! Good place for date night
Everything was great. Great food, great service ( with a smile) and great decor / atmosphere. My one minor gripe - it's a little noisy for easy table conversation.
We've been to McKiernan several times over the last few years. Every time was an amazing experience from start to finish. This time however was anything but, and unfortunately soured our outlook on this restaurant for good. After making reservations we were seated without any wait and took some time looking at the menu. First, we ordered a Burrata as a starter. My partner ordered Ribs. The waitress informed us it's just a plate of ribs for $31, and if we wanted any kind of side it would be an additional $7 at the very least. Weird to separate it like that but okay. She decides on the fries to go with it. I then ordered the Nordic Shrimp Scampi & Linguini. After a little while enjoying our cocktails our meals arrive, with no Burrata as a starter. I ask about it and turns out the waitress forgot to put it in.. alright we all make mistakes. I ask them to send it out anyway and we'll eat it with everything. Now on to the meals. The ribs were plentiful and tasty, but the fries overbaked and under-seasoned. Nordic Shrimp Scampi, I take one look at the shrimp and just laugh. They are literally the size of my fingernail. The shrimps themselves weren't too fresh either, as if bought in a freezer bag from IGA. The pasta was again under-seasoned and had a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl. The Burrata that finally arrived was another letdown. They used to serve it with tomatoes and pesto, but now replaced that with a pretentious slice of pear and salad dressing that overpowers the taste entirely. At least the cheese itself was fresh. Time for dessert. I order a maple donut and my partner orders a brownie. Server asks if she wants ice cream with the brownie and my partner agrees. Everything arrives and my donut tastes EXACTLY like Tim Hortons. No exaggeration. Every donut place has their own distinct flavour and I KNOW what a Tim Hortons maple donut tastes like as it's been my go-to donut there for years. Brownie was nice and rich with the ice cream to cut the sweetness. Very good. Until we saw on the bill the ice cream was an extra $3 for one small scoop! The waitress didn't tell us that part when she asked if we wanted it. And that's how our night ended. Utterly disappointed with not only the food, but the way they're doing business. It was such a shock to us all the upselling they're doing now. I've never seen it to that extent at any other restaurant and it was so sad to see them do it here. And without even telling us at one point on top of that. We knew from experience this restaurant was more on the expensive side, which we're perfectly fine with, but why make the customer pay extra for sides that should be accompanying the plate from the get-go? Or for one small scoop of ice cream on the brownie when it should already be there? We used to love this restaurant. Now, that has changed entirely and we won't be going back.
It’s such a wonderful atmosphere and the food quality is amazing. Just loved it♥️ and I will come back again and again ☺️
We just walked in on Easter Sunday and this restaurant did not disappoint! The food, the service, the vibe - all were amazing! I definitely recommend and will be coming back!
Hidden gem. Great meal, awesome staff and the place has such a unique style and good atmosphere.
love love love it here! brittainy and maeve were absolutely amazing! their service was phenomenal, maeve recommended an amazing wine, and dessert was to die for! can't wait to come back!
The food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. Maeve and Brittainy were so kind and welcoming. Would recommend!!!
Brussel sprouts and cold shaved prime rib stole the show, but every plate was excellent
Our party of four visited on a Sunday evening. There was ample parking available at the front, despite signage indicating potential towing; after confirming with the hostess, we were assured that parking on the opposite side was acceptable. We were seated by the window, providing a pleasant view of the spacious dining area. The restaurant attracted numerous families with children, resulting in a lively atmosphere which became quieter around 7:30 pm. The cocktails were excellent. We ordered four appetizers; three arrived promptly, but we needed to remind the server about the fourth, which was delivered five minutes later along with our main courses. Although not ideal, the food itself was enjoyable. Our selections included prime rib, rotisserie chicken, and schnitzel, all prepared well. We also ordered a bottle of red wine for the main course, but it remained unopened on the counter near our table for approximately twenty minutes before we had to flag down our waiter. While the staff provided friendly service, it appeared that servers were assigned too many tables, resulting in an inconsistent pace and several overlooked items. The team addressed this by offering a complimentary dessert to share among our group. Overall a nice evening with good food but chaotic service
I went for a solo lunch, had great service Dimitri made me feel most welcome. The food was great diablo chicken sandwich is a solid 9/10 and you can’t miss the fries! Can’t wait to go back!
McKiernan has been and continues to be an absolutely spectacular dinner destination. The large open space with a beautiful sunlight creates an atmosphere that is unique and welcoming. The staff is always top-notch. Attentive, professional, and wonderful. Tonight they’re eight of us we had a prefix dinner. That was spectacular and delicious. Everybody had the best possible time the place is called. The people are great. The food is fantastic. This is highly recommended.
Real cool decor, huge room, fairly priced, food is delicious yet somehow leaves you with a “this is a bit mundane” feeling. Service feels like they are constantly under toxic management pressure, lacking in warmth and friendliness, stressed and not vibing, front of house shouldn’t be running front and back with a concerned stern face for hours. Petty but 4$ coffee refills with no sugar or milk, sure it’s in a nice cup but come on. Also, the reservation/cancellation policy can duck right off (re: see above, toxic management)
I came to this restaurant looking for an amazing experience because that’s what all the reviews said however, I was extremely underwhelmed because the service was subpar. Our server might have had too many tables to work at the same time because the first fact the food that we got came cold. I walked over to the manager, and I asked for a little bit more attention and service and got attitude instead of acknowledgment The level of entitlement these people have for the mediocre food that they put out is amusing Donuts were fire tho Hope to come back soon with a much better experience
Good food and great service at reasonable prices
