My partner and I came through the drive-thru around 11:20pm to order 1 meal. We are aware that lobby was closed and had to go through the drive-thru. We had to wait for around 5mins to reach the first ordering screen. A woman asked if we were collecting points in French, we aren’t fluent in French and were in that area to visit family (The bridge to Ottawa is a couple blocks away from this location). We said yes, and gave her our code. Her mic went off and we sat there 20mins until the car in front of us was done ordering. We sat there for a few mins just in case she was the only one who was on lane. We decided to pull forward to the next drive-thru ordering screen and wait. The moment we pulled forward she took the car behind us instantly. We sat there for over 20mins because she wouldn’t take our order because we aren’t confident in speaking French. We decided to pull to the window and a woman asked if our order was a poutine in the window. We said no, you guys refused our order at the screens. She spoke French back at us, as we are clearly speaking English. (I do understand some) she said we had to go around and enter the drive-thru again for our order to be taken. I said no, you refused to take my order after I said my code in English. She started speaking to the manager. The manager came with no headset on to monitor the lanes and spoke fluent English. She was very upset and treated us with disrespect when they gave it to us first. I was redeeming a code and when she said she’ll take my order, I had to wait for my phone to refresh a new code as I’ve been waiting for over 25mins just to order here. I have management experience at McDonalds that is far busier than this location, we experience many different language barriers and have NEVER refused service. What if a deaf person came through drive through and had to automatically drive to the window to order, would they be sent all around to restart and order at the screens? No! We left after over 30mins in drive-thru, my drink wasn’t made correctly, I felt extremely disrespected and they wasted a lot of my time. This location needs to retrain customer service!
