This is the best shawarma shop I have ever tried. Out of all the shops in Ottawa-Gatineau, this shop scores the best in all categories: amazing taste, excellent value, and warm customer service. -- LONG REVIEW (SKIP PAST FOR TL;DR) -- 1. Amazing Taste: The shawarma embodies the shop's philosophy: letting the shawarma shine. The chicken was well-seasoned with a mixture of moist meat and crispy bits. This allowed me to taste both the clean and fresh taste of the meat, while enjoying hints of char and caramelization. The other fillings complement the meat by creating a hearty meal with a surprisingly delicate balance. The pickles offered subtle tanginess, cutting into the richness offered by the copious amounts of garlic sauce that penetrated the gaps. Meanwhile, the vegetables also added freshness and crunch, creating a layered and textured bite. Overall, the shawarma brings out the best in each ingredient, and refuses to hide the flavour profile by overpowering it with strong spices/sauces. I enjoyed the shawarma so much that I forgot to take a photo of its contents; you will have to come and see for yourself. 2. Excellent Value: I ordered the trio: consisting of shawarma, potatoes (with garlic sauce) and a canned drink. This meal is not only affordable (costing less than $20), but will also keep you full. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to see my friends end up with leftovers - an increasingly rare sight in a world of shrinking portion sizes. The normal sized shawarma was as large as my forearm (yes, I checked) and was densely filled. The owner also packed the takeout container - the indent of lid was imprinted onto the heaping pile of garlic sauce, which smothered the potatoes. As for the drink, you can never go wrong with a cold beverage. Overall, this place will feed you well without emptying your wallet. If I lived around the area, I would come daily. 3. Warm Customer Service: The owner is lively, warm and charismatic. It is clear that he has built strong relationships with his clients, both old and new. His banter and jokes creates contributes to a fun ordering experience, and his efforts to learn about each customer creates an authentic connection. I suspect the owner is so great to talk with because just like his shawarma, he lets each part of his personality stand out. From a practical standpoint, he can speak both English and French (and obviously Arabic), meaning that if you are an Anglophone passing by, you will receive the same quality of service as a local Francophone. He is also very eager to also ensure the quality of his product and, by asking customers about their food experience, showing his care. Lastly, service is also quick. Overall, the owner creates a warm and professional atmosphere for all. Despite having never gone to this shop, I felt extremely welcome and at ease. -- FINAL THOUGHTS (TL;DR) -- The food is served with high quality and portions, with low pricing. The owner also creates a warm atmosphere for all people to enjoy, and services in both English and French. My conclusion: come to Marroush Shawarma, you will not regret it.

I've been going to this restaurant since 2007 back when it was besides Patateries Hulloise. Best Shawarma in town, I strongly suggest you buy the "Bazooka Shawarma" with extra garlic sauce. Friendly staff on top of it. The food is so good you won't stop until your stomach hurt so much it's full.
