Really good food and amazing service
Reviews / Ratings for Mama C Restaurant
Decent greek food. Some items amazing while others left much to be desired. Plating and service was as to be expected when good, clumsy when bad (ie. assistant server injecting himself into a wine selection presentation and tasting, dropping off a dish missing plates and ultimately breaking the flow of said presentation). Certain dishes seemed to be a bit lukewarm for what they warranted, while others extremely hot, some arriving nearly instantly, while others arriving after significant waiting, and some exciting and flavourful (pita and dip, sashimi were great, octopus although cold was also quite nice) while others shockingly bland (the moussaka here is a dish served in a shallow au gratin-style pan and tastes only of béchamel sauce, salted meat, and eggplant, rather than being the vibrant, well-plated, and warmly spiced dish it is meant to be, and in complete honesty the greek salad legitimately could have been from a grocery store carton if you had me blindfolded - a slog to finish). Overall an inconsistent menu, from my selections at least. Had Theo C as a server who was great throughout the meal with wine pairings, conversations, and a shooter for the occasion, however at the end of the meal, payment and tip as well as an exchange of names and handshakes were immediately followed up with the presentation of a business card and branded postcard with a request for a “good google rating” in his name “so he can get a free meal” - something so comically cheap that one wonders where the hell they have even just eaten, a ludicrously tasteless conclusion to what would otherwise be simply a passably mediocre experience. Perhaps the staff were trained by Uber drivers. Interior design as others have stated is of course beautiful as one would expect at this price point, but given that a restaurant is in need of an interior in order to begin operation, it does not influence my review of the actual operating dining experience. Overall sentiment is that the restaurant needs to decide what it wants to be: a great greek space that creates genuine, meaningful experiences and promotes an authentic desire to spread good word and return, or a cheap old port tourist trap. I think the area is in more need of something aligning with the former.
This Greek restaurant boasts a fantastic design—warm and welcoming throughout, with dim lighting that instantly puts you at ease. The music is subtle and atmospheric, setting the perfect mood without ever overpowering the conversation. The food is delicious, featuring creative twists on classic Greek dishes where every bite feels thoughtful and flavorful. The sommelier was a real highlight too— knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely helpful without being pushy. It elevated an already great experience! The staff are genuinely friendly and respectful, always smiling, and the service feels personal and unhurried. Overall, it's a solid choice—I'd happily return!
Great service! Great food! Would 100% recommend to everyone!
Great service, great food. I totally recommend !! Ask for Nikita, thanks to his exemplary service I will definitely be coming back.
Decor A1, everything from vibe to presentation is amazing. The food...immaculate. Even yiayia cant beat the taste
Josh gave the best service. 10/10
Modern Greek restaurant with a refined take on classic dishes. The food was consistently good, with a contemporary twist rather than strictly traditional preparations. Service was fast and friendly. The wine list is thoughtfully curated and pairs well with the menu. While it’s somewhat on the expensive side, it's mostly justified. Standout dishes for me were the pastitsio and the roasted aubergine. Overall, a solid choice for Greek food.
The service was so bad ! The waiters were so nice but the manager for some reason was so rude ! Never again
Gorgeous spot for a birthday or work dinner. The food was pretty good. I ordered the kebab plate and I’m not sure if it was supposed to be cold but it was. The chicken is way better so def order that instead. Drinks were great can’t complain. Service at reception and at the table was great too. Would come again but it is on the pricier side.
We stumbled across Mama C by accident and oh my goodness it was some of the best food I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I go to Greece a lot and he being Greek is very particular about authentic Greek food. The food blew our mind. We got the Greek salad, full sea bass with air of beets. My boyfriend never eats vegetables and he raved about the roasted beets. They were amazing, and the fish was spectacular. He even went back to the chef to personally compliment him on the beets!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also the staff is wonderful and very kind. Can’t wait to go back once I’m in Montreal again.
Mama C is an absolute gem. The food is consistently delicious, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared, with flavours that feel both elevated and soulful. Every dish is made with care, and you can truly taste the quality of the ingredients. I keep going back for the grilled octopus and grilled fish. They are able to accommodate all my dietary needs without even raising an eyebrow. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and unpretentious—the kind of place you want to return to again and again. The service is friendly, attentive, and genuine, making the entire experience feel effortless and welcoming. Mama C strikes that rare balance between neighbourhood favourite and destination-worthy restaurant. A must-visit in Montréal, whether for a casual meal or a special moment shared around great food.
Outside of the fabulous food. Basile's service andJonathan's wine culture was exceptional.
The restaurant has a really nice interior design, and I loved the ambience. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the matcha latte—it mostly tasted like milk and not much like matcha. I should’ve ordered a regular latte instead.
Very excited to try this restaurant as we were told that the food was amazing and everyone was raving about it. Ambiance 9/10 Decor was beautiful, chill with a tint of luxury. Did love the waiter’s uniform. Changed from the regular black we see in all other restaurants. Food 10/10 The food was DELICIOUS. Honestly everything we ordered tasted so good and was so fresh. The grilled octopus HIT the spot, the free range chicken was juicy and so tasty and the lamb… listen, you just gotta go and try it for yoursel!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ SERVICE 9’5/10 I only took out 0.5 because it seems that it was a busy night and our server was responsible for multiple tables which sometimes caused longer wait times for us to get his attention but that’s not something YLIAN could control. He was wonderful from beginning to end, really chill vibe and demeanor and making sure he wasn’t hovering over us. We did get a chance to have a nice conversation with him at the end of the night and he is a lovely young man! Wishing him the best in his future plans. VALET 5/10 We found a parking when we arrived on the next street but used the valet service to make sure the car would be moved to the front of the restaurant whenever possible. It wasn’t so we essentially paid to have our car parked where we left it the whole night and brought to us at the end of the night - we could have walked. 😅 All in all, I would go back cause I want to try everything on the menu! Try it next time you are visiting Montreal!
Six of us went for dinner on New Year’s Day while on a quick trip from Toronto. We already had high expectations for this restaurant, but it completely exceeded them. Nicki was an exceptional server and struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, personality, and professionalism. He walked us through the menu, helped curate our experience, and offered spot on recommendations. Honestly, Nicki’s service alone is reason enough to visit. The food was flavourful, fresh, and beautifully balanced with comforting, familiar flavours and modern twists. It more than lived up to the menu descriptions and beyond. This will absolutely be a must visit spot anytime we are in Montreal. Thank you Nicki for ending our trip on such a high and bringing so many laughs to our dinner!!
Cute brunch spot. Service is great. Dining room is stunning. Good selection of dishes on the brunch menu, but all we had was coffee, a croissant and the Greek yogurt dish. Will probably come back for dinner.
