The food and drink was great! Service was great, but the timing was a little off. Food came so fast we did not have our drinks. Not a big deal but it's nice to have a drink started before the food.

I had an absolutely incredible experience at Makao in Montreal. From the moment we walked in, everything felt elevated — great atmosphere, amazing energy, and top-tier service. Our waitress, Vlada, was truly outstanding. She was attentive without being overbearing, incredibly friendly, and made the whole experience feel special. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests, and it made a huge difference. The food was just as impressive. I ordered the Szechuan steak, and it was cooked perfectly — tender, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. Every bite was spot on. And the Dragon Margarita… wow. Easily one of the best cocktails I’ve had — bold, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Between the service, the food, and the drinks, this place knocked it out of the park. I would highly recommend Makao to anyone visiting Montreal, and I’ll definitely be back.

Hidden gem in Chinatown and has delicious food. Inside is small so it is good to call and book a reservation during peak hours. Our host Antoine was great and described the menu in detail.

We had a wonderful experience at Makao! We’re visiting from Ontario, and Antoine provided excellent service—he took the time to explain the menu and gave great recommendations. He was friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was delicious, and the restaurant was clean with a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Really delicious food. All of the starters were fantastic, the baos, sticky ribs, and general tso. We got the shandong noodles as a main, it was tasty and good char from the grill, but could use some more sauce / flavor! Anton provided great service too, attentive and kind. :)

Went for a birthday dinner and had a great time! Our waitress Valda was great super attentive and kind, she was super accommodating to all our needs! The service was quick and easy, the food is pretty good-decent proportion and the drinks were really good!! Would 100% go back

I want to share my experience at Makao to give others a clear heads-up before deciding to go. This was my first visit, and I went with guests from out of town, so expectations were naturally high. Walking in, the decor is genuinely impressive—very clean, upscale, and it absolutely gives off a luxury dining experience. Based on that alone, you expect the food quality to match. Unfortunately, it didn’t. The food across the board was very bland. The steak was poorly seasoned and not very tender, and the lobster lacked flavor as well. For the price point, the portion sizes and overall quality just didn’t add up. It felt overpriced for what was served. To be fair, the service was good, the staff were professional, and the restaurant itself was clean. Also, the drinks were the one highlight of the night. I always give positive reviews when they’re earned, but I also believe in being honest when they’re not. Everyone at our table left disappointed, especially given how strong the first impression is when you walk in. Just something to keep in mind if you’re considering going—don’t let the decor set expectations too high for the food. Personally, I wouldn’t go back. Cheers.

Decent food made with care, prices don't really match the quality but overall it's quite good. Service needs some revision, waitress didn't really acknowledge everyone at the table and for some that's important. Spent a lot of time on the phone which, that's dirty..
