My friend highly recommended this place so we got a few dishes for takeout. I got the lamb dish, and it was the worst lamb dish I’ve gotten in my life: meat was tough, overcooked, with way too much sour cream. It was disgusting. My stomach was upset and indigested all night. A $10 pizza would taste better than this.

Hi, Very honestly sorry and surprised to read those lines. As you mentioned, we are known and recommended for our quality and even the most of our reviews say the same thing. Take out is difficult to manage, we don’t know when the meat is going to be consumed. The meat continues to cook as time goes on, did it stay too long on the counter? We can assure our meat is fresh every week. We put so much love in every dish and every prep, and this goes for every single member of our team. Meals at Mmm Fortin are an exciting event - thanks to a strong kitchen and friendly front of house. I love the cod served over risotto and have a hard time ordering anything else. But I do and I share and I always leave happy. Great array of choices for every palate. This place would do well anywhere and it’s truly a pleasure to have it in the Lac Brome area.

A tip from Alissa, our delightful waitress at Ensemble in Knowlton led us to Madame Fortin, a gem located in Waterloo. An unassuming, comfortable dining room was filled with families and couples enjoying some of the most satisfying food I have had in a long time. Our genial and informative waiter Olivier (Alissa's brother-in-law!!) greeted us with the menu. We started with the beef tartare which was fresh and beautifully presented. My wife had steak frites, an 8oz hangar steak topped with two generous dusks of herb butter and accompanied by hand cut fries, a small, fresh spinach salad and aioli. I had one of the two specials, a generous grilled pork chop filled with a potato, spinach and cheese stuffing, topped with a rich and flavorful mustard gravy The chop was accompanied by a perfectly cooked melange of fresh vegetables. Dessert was maple creme caramel, the perfect ending to a perfect meal. The Madame was a delight to talk to after our meal. This is a restaurant to go out of your way visit!! BTW, we each had two glasses of wine which brought the total cost of the meal up a bit but for the quality of food and service it was well worth it.

unbelievable quality of food. appetizers, main course, deserts all made by hand by the staff of Mme Fortin. and prices are affordable for the quality. cant say enough good things about this hide out in Waterloo, Quebec.

Great food, awesome quality in a picturesque small city. There are not that many options in the menu but there are vegan and gluten-free alternatives. Meal sizes are decent. Recommended, get the Cheese cake with pistachios if you can.

Highly recommend having a dinner here. Make sure to book reservations as this place was packed, which was a wonderful sigh. The dishes we had were amazing and the staff were lovely

Wow super experience at Madame Fortin. Delicious food, excellent service, fun atmosphere. Absolutely great. we had the onglet, seafood pasta, moules poutine and the cod risotto, for dinner on a Sunday night. Live music was great and not so loud we could not have a great conversation.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars for Madame Fortin! I don’t even know where to begin...our experience with Madame Fortin and the mother-daughter team of Karine & Oceane was exceptional from start to finish. We contracted them to cater meals for a corporate retreat, and every single dish was outstanding. The level of professionalism, organization, and care they brought to our event was top‑notch. We had several colleagues with dietary restrictions, and each one was accommodated seamlessly and thoughtfully. On top of the catered meals, we also booked their chef‑in dining experience… and JUST WOW. The food was extraordinary, and the service was truly off the charts. If you’re staying at Manoir Maplewood in Waterloo and want incredible, local, catered‑in meals, don’t think twice about hiring Madame Fortin - it is your go-to place. Wish we had stayed longer to experience their restaurant dining, I'm sure it's amazing!
