Food was ok, nothing special and overpriced, however we got a good service. We came for a birthday and after 2h we've been told to leave our table and go to a corner which ended up making everybody leave. Disappointing
Reviews / Ratings for Madame Bovary - Laval
I had a very disappointing experience and would not recommend this establishment. I had reserved a private room well in advance for a birthday celebration of 15 people. On the day of the event, there was no private room available, and our group was instead seated in an open area with round tables pushed together, which did not reflect what had been reserved. To make matters worse, the area was cold, as we were seated near the entrance door. Service throughout the evening was extremely slow. Dishes were not served at the same time, and staff did not check in to see if we wanted additional drinks, coffee, or dessert. Without prior discussion or accommodation, we were asked to leave the tables, being told they were needed for other guests. We were offered one table and a small couch, leaving most of our group standing, which was uncomfortable and awkward. At that point, the evening was effectively cut short, and we decided to leave. This experience was truly disappointing, both for myself and for my guests. Given the lack of organization, service, and respect for our reservation, I will not be returning.
Excellent service
The restaurant is very different from others, it has this dark ,mysterious atmosphere... decor was nice. There is a DJ, which is nice, but there is a carpet on the dance floor.( weird) maybe it's not a dance floor... Food: most of our friends ordered beef tartar, I ordered salmon tartar, they both were good..One of my friends took extra brussel sprouts, that was a highlight...Service was great! Drinks at the bar were great. Only one minus, they didn't have champagne glasses.. Overall: its a good restaurant for any event. I would go back
The food wasn't that great and the quantity was so little. BUT the staff was friendly and did try to help to their best.
New year's eve at this restaurant; food was good, dessert is the best. The cocktails, not much alcohol. Service good. Music is great, thank you Dj.
Limited and very expensive menu for what it is.
I had high hopes for a restaurant named Madame Bovary, but much like Flaubert’s heroine, the place is full of grand illusions and crushing disappointments. The décor tries desperately to be luxurious, but ends up feeling as gaudy and confused as Emma’s romantic fantasies. The service was no better: aloof, distracted, and oddly dramatic, as though the staff were reenacting the novel’s slow spiral into misery; I know my night was. By the end of the meal, I felt like I’d swallowed metaphorical arsenic—regretful and wishing I’d chosen any other dining option.
Totally disappointed with their customer service approach. Look elsewhere & save your $$$$.
Hi, I strongly urge everyone to reflect on what they like in a restaurant before booking. 1. Do you like being lied to and gaslit about what was promised to you? 2. Do you like when they mismanage their staff and leave one waitress (bless her) to handle a table of 20? 3. Do you like the manager and the owner calling multiple members of your group liars? If so, I’m sure you’ll love it! Not to mention the arrogant attitude from Benjamin (which is clearly reflected in the reviews and in his responses). An embarrassment to the restaurant industry, to be sure.
Our work group had a great evening at Madame Bovary. We started with cocktails and a round of wings & nachos by the pool table—bar snacks were just OK, but the cocktails were excellent. The vibe is chic and festive, and the space handled our large group comfortably. For dinner, we shared a variety of dishes; presentation was beautiful and the quality and taste were very good, though not quite exceptional considering the higher prices. What really stood out was the service—attentive and on point all night. Overall, a very enjoyable outing with good food, outstanding service, and top‑notch cocktails. Perfect for groups and celebrations
This place was just great! It's chic, food is tasty, and the service is quick and attentive. Plus, the cocktails and mocktails are really good and with great presentation. All dishes were really tasty, and the quality of the ingredients was high. Also they all felt fresh. The atmosphere and decoration is beautiful, and it really gives a cozy/chic vibe.
