Absolutely fantastic experience from a parative to digestive. The food is stellar and is just like the wonderful cooking I grew up with. The owners are fantastic and warm and an absolutely beautiful young couple. I highly recommend this restaurant. Prices are fair, not cheap, not the average price of a Brasserie plate that you might be expecting. However the quality of the whole dining experience and especially the quality of the food is worth every penny and more. If you come to the laurentians this is a must be place to dine out in. Matter of fact it's the best place I've eaten in a year and it won't be my last time. Thank you Tim and Lindsay
Reviews / Ratings for MacTaverne Pub
My son and I sat at the bar for an early meal on this cold and sunny day. The place is charming and I looked forward to a pint of Guinness. As we sat down, the barman started one for another customer and he poured it well. We started with a Scotch Egg and ordered the Steak Frites. The Scotch Egg was the best I'd ever had. The sausage, the soft boiled egg, the creamy yolk - perfect. The Guinness was gorgeous. Great cream that clung to the glass with every sip. Then the steak came out. Goodness. My son and I looked at each other. Great plating and sides. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Delicious - full stop! I can't wait to go back.
Only tried the pub a couple of times and fab food, great selection on the menu, fresh, nice vibe and beautiful selection of wines.
Quaint friendly establishment, that exudes welcoming warmth & hospitality of the Laurentians. Staff are all bilingual (which helped me, as I am still learning g French) Menu is limited, but the quality & portion size is excellent. Parking in the rear is very limited, but there is sufficient parking less than 200 metres away. Lovely view of the river. Family run, which is evident from the personal attention. Will certainly return to enjoy the ambiance.
Pure fire. Heaven on earth.
BEST PLACE AROUND. BEST PEOPLE. CRAIG GAVE US THE WARMEST WELCOME. THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE. IT SURE FEELS MAGIC TO BE ALIVE AT THE SAME TIME THAT THIS PLACE EXISTS.
We visited the Pub tonight and had an excellent experience. The service was smooth and comfortable. The food was top notch.
Spent a great night at the Mactaverne Inn with some friends. It’s so well located - just a 5 minute walk to the main street and across the street from a 234 km walking, snowshoeing and cycling trail. The food was delicious (highly recommend the cheeseburger and fries), the rooms are very comfortable and inviting, and the owners, a family run business, are very welcoming and friendly. I’m looking forward to going back in the summer!
Just spent two nights at the Inn with a number of girlfriends and we had a fantastic time. The Inn is warm and inviting! The complimentary breakfast is deliciously satisfying and healthy. The dinners and wine at the Pub are outstanding! The best sticky toffee pudding you will ever taste and the burgers, beyond perfection. To top it all off - the hospitality of the owners of the MacTaverne Auberge & Pub will be bringing us back time and time again. The village of Val David has so much to offer from amazing cross country skiing, to hiking and biking. Val David truly is a four season destination as is the Inn & Pub. Thank you, Lynn, Craig, Tim, Mike & family for making our stay unforgettable ❤️
After moving from Montreal to the Laurentians, this is EXACTLY the type of place that was missing. So glad they opened. It's great because it's the type of place you can go for a beer with a friend, you can grab lunch or you can organize a more fancy dinner outing. It's so flexible. The food is amazing, the ambiance is beautiful - not to mention the balcony with the river view. They did wonders with the space, it's such a vibe.I highly recommend for most types of occasions. Love it!(And they also have blankets for you if you're chilly!)
They had us at Scotch egg and sticky toffee pudding… so rare in Quebec, and frankly so well done here! We loved the mostly traditional British courses. The fish and chips is as good as everyone says, and we loved the typical chicken and leek pie with its own tiny pitcher of jus. Really pleased to see that this idyllic waterfall-side locale has been repossessed by such a motivated team, whose enthusiasm for their concept is clear throughout the meal. One of the co-owners even made us an absolutely fantastic recommendation for a digestif to go with our dessert. It is a little Montreal for the setting, not in a bad way but one thing that is definitely not a big city are the prices. I don’t know if they’ve made adjustments given some of the comments, but we were absolutely stuffed. The bill for three beer, a cocktail and a whiskey, as well as two mains and an appetizer, plus dessert at was well under what we would pay virtually anywhere else for the same quality, originality and overall experience. Service is excellent and friendly as described. We try to be loyal to the many great options in town, but we’ll have to try and squeeze this one in among our other favorites!
Excellent!
This is such a wonderful spot. Great food and atmosphere -- exactly the type of warm, cosy, hospitable place that perfectly fits the region. A must.
We had a fantastic stay at MacTaverne! The staff were lovely, the breakfast was delicious and great location for cross country skiing, definitely recommend!
Great vibes. Awesome food. Great service! Will be back can’t recommend highly enough!
Ensconced in a cozy room after a winter ski and drinks in a lively restaurant with a fire in the corner. Come for the restaurant by all means but the stay over will give you a chance to enjoy the honest hospitality of the owners and staff. Plus you get to visit one of the coolest villages in the laurentides.
We stopped in to watch a playoff football game on the way home from skiing Tremblant and could not have enjoyed our drinks and dinner more. Very hospitable, warm energy, and chill vibes. Worth a visit!
Cozy atmosphere, food was delish and Tim was a great host. Will definitely be back.
Food, vibe, and people - five stars!! I spent many years working in great restaurants which has made me really appreciate good food and this is one of those spots you always hope to find. Family-owned with a well-chosen wine selection and incredible food that’s made with local ingredients and love. The steak was truly perfect. Highly recommend!
