Amazing food fabulous staff! We love both and the atmosphere and best Guiness on tab outside Ireland!
Really miss the Baril Roulant menu. The steak was ok but too salty, the pie was good but the portion too small (since there's no vegetable side), and the side salad was swimming in about 400+ calories of dressing and cheese – not a healthy side. The caramel pudding was delicious. I've never before experienced a menu that was so allergic to vegetables. If menus had gender, this is 100% masculine. One of my favorite things about restaurants in Val-David is artful and playful plating/presentation – that was missing here. Service was mostly friendly, but much like its predecessor, Baril Roulant, it was extremely slow even though the restaurant was mostly empty. It took more than 30 minutes for the kitchen to pour store-bought chips into a bowl and serve them, and more than 60 minutes to receive dinner. The food was fine, but it’s not the menu I crave after a long hike, long bike, or long ski in Val-David. I assume the very small menu is likely a smart response to labor shortages and maybe a difficult and non-ergonomic kitchen design, but I wish that those considerations were better paired with the qualities and activities of Val-David. Would be willing to give it another try if there are some new additions to the menu.

We ate steaks here after a long day in the woods, and it felt like stepping into some fairytale, like a place hidden behind a door at the base of a large tree.. steaks were amazing. Extremely high quality, cooked medium rare how I like it, the fat was the best part. Grass fed fat just tastes different. They have a wizard making cocktails too because the drinks were perfect!
Best fish and chips ever! Great service too.
Wonderful place we had visited 10 years before under different management. Now under a real family ownership, two brothers, with a newborn in evidence, grandparents, the works! But the food is the central reason to go. I had the chicken pie and the scotch eggs, unforgettable!

Wow, amazing food, friendly atmosphere and a great playlist. What more do you need. Our steak and pie were absolutely divine. Worth the small detour. Looking forward to this summer on the terrasse.

We looked online many place to find the opening hours and couldn't find it neither on Google nor on their website. We called: no answer and no vocal box.
We had the most incredible weekend getaway here — from the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel right at home. The restaurant and bar were on another level, with fantastic food and an atmosphere that’s hard to beat. We can’t wait to come back next year!
I haven't visited the rooms, but the food here is absolutely delicious!! Won't say much more, have to get back to eating. 🤩 Family run business and they are sooo nice!! Love it here🥰
Great service and an excellent Guinness! The staff were friendly and attentive. The Guinness was perfectly poured smooth, and exactly how it should be. Definitely a place I’d come back to and recommend to anyone who enjoys good beer and great service.

Absolutely fantastic experience from a parative to digestive. The food is stellar and is just like the wonderful cooking I grew up with. The owners are fantastic and warm and an absolutely beautiful young couple. I highly recommend this restaurant. Prices are fair, not cheap, not the average price of a Brasserie plate that you might be expecting. However the quality of the whole dining experience and especially the quality of the food is worth every penny and more. If you come to the laurentians this is a must be place to dine out in. Matter of fact it's the best place I've eaten in a year and it won't be my last time. Thank you Tim and Lindsay
My son and I sat at the bar for an early meal on this cold and sunny day. The place is charming and I looked forward to a pint of Guinness. As we sat down, the barman started one for another customer and he poured it well. We started with a Scotch Egg and ordered the Steak Frites. The Scotch Egg was the best I'd ever had. The sausage, the soft boiled egg, the creamy yolk - perfect. The Guinness was gorgeous. Great cream that clung to the glass with every sip. Then the steak came out. Goodness. My son and I looked at each other. Great plating and sides. It was one of the best steaks I've ever had. Delicious - full stop! I can't wait to go back.
Only tried the pub a couple of times and fab food,great selection on the menu, fresh, nice vibe and beautiful selection of wines.
Quaint friendly establishment, that exudes welcoming warmth & hospitality of the Laurentians. Staff are all bilingual (which helped me, as I am still learning g French) Menu is limited, but the quality & portion size is excellent. Parking in the rear is very limited, but there is sufficient parking less than 200 metres away. Lovely view of the river. Family run, which is evident from the personal attention. Will certainly return to enjoy the ambiance.

We visited the Pub tonight and had an excellent experience. The service was smooth and comfortable. The food was top notch.
Spent a great night at the Mactaverne Inn with some friends. It’s so well located - just a 5 minute walk to the main street and across the street from a 234 km walking, snowshoeing and cycling trail. The food was delicious (highly recommend the cheeseburger and fries), the rooms are very comfortable and inviting, and the owners, a family run business, are very welcoming and friendly. I’m looking forward to going back in the summer!
