amazing food, amazing portions
Reviews / Ratings for Ma Poule Mouillée
Their grilled calamari and Portuguese chicken were AMAZING! The chicken still tasted delicious even when it was cold. They truly worked some magic with their sauce. I didn’t try their famous poutine, and now I really regret it. I’ll definitely be coming back when I get the chance!
Holy moly. The food here is awesome! Really great value for money, too. The staff were super super friendly and helpful, we were even serenaded with some Édith Piaf!
I came back because I really enjoyed my first visit, but this time was disappointing. I asked to switch the fries for rice, but the change wasn’t made. Since the place was fully packed and there was nowhere to eat, we only noticed when we got home. I also didn’t receive the salad. Compared to my last visit, the quality has definitely gone down. It still tasted decently good, but I’m disappointed.
Salad = 0 Fries = 0 Chicken = 1000000000000000 Worth going for the amazing chicken.
This is good place to eat for the tourists. So good and tasty. Little bit salty but good ^*^ Ordered number 2 and 8
Best poutine in Montreal!! Reasonable prices for huge portions that are absolutely delicious!
First I must say for value this place does it right. Very large portion, it was impossible to finish! Bring tupperware... However a few things you should bear in mind: 1. Almost nowhere to sit so take out is kind of a must if you want to eat peacefully. 2. Crowds of young snotty people thinking they're all that. Lots of pushing and shoving to get a seat. Also saw people butting in line a lot. 3. Lastly, and more importantly, while the portions are massive, the poutine was a let down. The gravy wasn't super hot so the curds remained as blocks. The chicken was great but there was more fries/curds/chorizo than chicken. My friend had the whole chicken and it was quite nice but again not piping hot. So maybe come during non rush hour and maybe things will be hot.
The best Portuguese chicken in Montreal. Love it
Is it even a trip to the Plateau if you don’t stop at Ma Poule Mouillée? 🍗🔥 @mapoulemouillee There’s a reason the line is always out the door! From that signature charcoal-grilled Portuguese chicken to what many call the best poutine in Montreal (that spicy chorizo topping is a game changer), every bite is worth the wait. 🍟🧀 Did you know? Ma Poule Mouillée is famously located right across the street from Romados, creating one of the most delicious "chicken rivalries" in the world. Whether you’re here for the classic quarter-chicken leg or the massive "Poutine Grande," you’re tasting a true Montreal landmark. 🇨🇦✨ Grab a seat, soak up the smells of the wood-fired grill, and don't forget the extra hot sauce! 🌶️ #MTLfoodie #MontrealEats #MaPouleMouillee #PlateauMontRoyal #PoutineLover 📷 @StayserEats
I recently returned here for the first time in about 10 years and was extremely disappointed. The poutine was not the miracle I tasted the first time and my chicken thigh meal was no better as the chicken just tasted greasy and I could barely taste the spicy piri piri sauce I asked for. The rice I got also tasted very bland. This was a very strong disappointment for me. I expected them to live up to their fantastic reputation and it didn't even come close. I'm genuinely baffled.
Legit Portuguese chicken on charcoal rotisserie
Our spread of pork, chicken, and chorizo was delicious. Best fries we've had in Montreal. I bought one of each of their sauces which I do not have words to describe the flavor it imparted on me. The place filled up quick after we ordered, but the line moved super fast. Incredible.
This place is absolute worst for the reviews and hype . We got whole chicken and 2 chicken poutines. The chicken is tooooo salty (not the sauce but the meat itself ) . Poutines are better at McDonalds than here. Not worth the buck and for the people who saw it on YouTube and want to try. Go try some local places who serve the best poutine . Place is over hyped for the shitty meals they serve
It was good, not than excellent. But it was nice, i took the poutine.
even years of not eating it i stil remember the taste of that chicken and i havent tasted better chicken since
Best portugués chicken in Montreal. Their chicken is moist, carry great flavor and all of their menu options are good so you can't go wrong. The pastels de Nata are out of this world. Service is pretty straightforward, you go and order what you want and go down the line while they prepare it. Easy and convenient.
If I could give 0 star I would!! The poutine was way toooooo salty, so salty that it becomes inedible.. I really really don’t understand the hype here cuz it’s prob one of the worst poutine I’ve ever tried in Montreal. La Banquise right in front is much better but my favorite so far is still Alfa hotdog hehe. Also, texture of the fries was really off too. Some were even undercooked. Avoid this place omg.
Absolute must try when visiting, the portion sizes are huge and the service is great. For $15 you get a humongous plate of food. The place was bustling with people so you know it’s good!
Ma Poule Mouillée is always a great choice for Portuguese chicken and I find they have the best poutine in the city. For the price, you are getting a huge portion and everything is amazing. I give their poutine a solid 9/10 with the star being the chicken and the sauce. The cheese curds are very good and the chorizo is also a nice touch. The fries are pretty good but are the lowest point of the dish. I can’t express enough how good the chicken is, they nail it! If you come in the early evening, get ready to wait for a table but for lunch during the week it’s perfect.
I had the chicken poutine for my first visit yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. Great service as well!
Great food and good prices! Portions are huge!! and I say this as someone coming from America! The poutine can easily serve 2-3 people. Bit of a wait but worth it.
If you're looking for the best Portuguese charcoal chicken in Montreal, this is it. The smoky aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and the flavor doesn't disappoint. I had the chicken and chorizo poutine, and the combination of the spicy piri-piri sauce with the salty cheese curds is a total game-changer. The chicken is always juicy, never dry, and that charcoal char is perfection. A must-visit every time I'm in the Plateau!"
yum
