Spent $300, lobster pasta was super mediocre. Oysters were fresh, fish dish (green colour, cucumbers) was flavorful. Didn’t take any pics but NOT worth $300 for three mains, two drinks.
What guests say about Liverpool House
Liverpool House seems to offer a highly appreciated experience for its atmosphere, service, and several seafood and meat dishes, with many positive comments about the oysters, lobster, and steak. Many guests describe the service as warm, attentive, and professional, and the place often comes up as a good choice for a date, a night out with friends, or even a family outing. That said, a few reviews mention high prices, portions that are sometimes disappointing, and uneven quality on certain dishes, so the value for money can vary depending on what is ordered.

Overall a lovely experience, the food quality was great and the service really made our experience. Sasha really made our experience, very attentive and knowledgeable, with a passion which elevated our experience.
Great flavor. Get the dessert with banana sorbet. It was amazing.
We visited on a Saturday evening and unfortunately had a truly frustrating experience. Our 10pm reservation got us seated promptly, and the service seemed promising at the start. However, after placing our order we found ourselves still waiting for food at 11:30pm with zero communication from our server about the delay. A couple of people at our table eventually received their appetizers, but even that took nearly 40 minutes from when we ordered. Every time we tried to follow up, we were told our meals were on their way but yet they never arrived. After an hour and a half of waiting, we cut our losses. The whole thing was especially disheartening because we had genuinely been looking forward to this dinner and had made a special trip downtown just for the occasion. Had we had any idea the night would go this way, we would have skipped it entirely.
We went here for dinner on a Saturday night and had a very bad experience. Our reservation was at 10pm and we were seated right away. At first the service was good but we ordered our food by 10:15pm and by 11:30pm we had still not received any food or any updates from our server as to why the food was taking so long. Two people in our party received their appetizers but that was still 40 minutes after we had ordered. We had to ask several times if our food was coming and after being reassured that it was coming soon it never came. After waiting 1.5 hours we eventually paid for what did we had received we left. It was disappointing because we were looking forward to this and stayed downtown late just for this dinner reservation. Has we known it would be like this we wouldn't have come and would have actually enjoyed our evening.
Terrible experience, would not recommend.
Probably the best restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining at. From the moment you step through the door, they treat you like a long-lost friend, and the food matches that standard. I never thought I could be blown away by a salad, but today I was. Thank you so much for everything you do. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation. It’s also great for solo dining, the bar seating area is fantastic, and you can watch the garde manger at work
having always eaten at joe beef, decided to give the sister restaurant a try. unfortunately, it will always be in its shadow. service was subpar to say the least. took us an insane time to get the servers attention (15min). got ignored bluntly by the other waitstaff. we didt even know who our server was. when he finally came, he was distracted (eyes were ahead on another table) and he almost walked off halfway through. what a start. appetizers were mid. foie gras dish was too creamy. lobster pasta was tasteless (nothing in comparison to the one i had a joe beef). it felt like i was having pasta coated in lobster flavored water. lobster was fresh though so that i have to give. also ordered the arctic char and steak frites. fries were soggy, the only saving grace was the lettuce because that was the only thing that tasted like what it was meant to taste it. do not recommend unless you like being cooped up in a loud, crowded, dark restaurant. also if you like being ignored, then this place is for you. if not, joe beef is right next door and for the same price point. you deserve better.
Seriously delicious on all fronts. Service was friendly & delightfully playful.
It would be a shame to visit or live in Montreal without stopping by Liverpool House. What a great restaurant!
This place makes you feel like you’re floating among the stars the moment you walk in. Casual yet beautifully upscale, with an atmosphere that somehow feels both relaxed and extraordinary. Even the bar seats receive full restaurant service — not just service from behind the bar — and every single person on staff clearly knows their craft. Truly top-notch hospitality from start to finish. The oysters were absolute perfection. The Arctic Char was exquisite, and the special mac and cheese with beef on the bone was completely otherworldly. And then dessert arrived… maple profiteroles with vanilla-to-die-for ice cream and hot fudge sauce. Pure divine indulgence. Scrummy beyond words. Another unforgettable dining experience at Liverpool House. 💯✨
Now this is what I'm talking about - impeccable service, incredibly good tasting food, and worth every penny. The lobster spaghetti tasted like the literal ocean and it made you want to keep digging in. The fish was mastefully cooked. Beef tartar was fantastic. Highly highly recommend going here for a fancy dinner
Food is incredible and both times I’ve gone the service was impeccable. No joke cece and Sasha are two of the best waiters I’ve ever had
Incredible food and experience. The best restaurant in Montreal.
Pork chop was really overcooked. The driest pork chop I ever had otherwise everything was alright.
Took the kids here on a Tuesday evening and honestly wasn't sure how it would go, but the staff were so warm and made us feel completely at ease right from the door. My daughter couldn't stop talking about the roasted chicken — she's eight and picky about everything, so that says a lot. The vibe is lively without being overwhelming, which is exactly what you need when you've got little ones who get restless. We'll definitely be back next time we're looking for somewhere the whole family can actually enjoy together.
Food was very good and staff are very nice!
Fantastic cocktails, extensive wine list, and market fresh seafood and meat options. Half the menu isn't on the menu and the specials were delicious. Had an earlier seating at 6:45 and there was a mild bustle about the restaurant but by the time we were finishing our meal, the volume level was way higher from tables full of friends enjoying top tier fine dining, all of them having an audibly great time. Service was excellent. Mike made us feel welcome and cared for and it wasn't just a waiter's veneer. It was actually genuine. Booking my next reservation now.
Love but I miss the Parmesan fries 💔
Absolutely wonderful place. Highly recommend for high quality, treated ingredients and perfect service.
A return visit, to see if things are as good as it used to be. The food is what one might expect of this reputable business: solid diverse offerings, seafood incredibly fresh, but one highlight at this resto is the fantastic service. This might be secondary to some, but we all know how bad service can ruin a good food night. Kudos to the staff for their detailed explanations, attention to details, prompt cleaning and pleasant chatty vibes.
My wife and I had a celebratory dinner at Liverpool House and it exceeded expectations. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable with low lighting—almost like being at a cozy family cottage. The room was lively, with a younger crowd and great energy. The food and service were both exceptional. Our server, Cecilia, was charming, professional, and very knowledgeable. What really stood out was how seamlessly the entire team worked together—multiple servers checked in, and it felt like there was constant communication between the floor and the kitchen. You could tell they were paying close attention to what guests were enjoying (or not), which was impressive to watch. Highlights from the meal: • Oysters to start • A special clam dish with clam chowder baked on top—unbelievably good • Raw scallop—subtle and interesting • A seafood starter that didn’t look like much but tasted like the best kind of homemade cooking • Ribeye with Alexander sauce—rich, buttery, and outstanding (the chicken stock base was a great touch) The wine and cocktails were also excellent. Highly recommend Liverpool House—and if you can, ask for Cecilia. This is a serious restaurant
Food was amazing Our server was very nice. The table next to us was friends with the manager and acting belligerently. They were vaping in the restaurant during our meal and one of them hit me in the head with their elbow. The server felt bad and gave us a free desert….I guess that’s what you get for taking an elbow to the head. Ownership needs to find a new manager. Letting guests behave that rudely at the expense of others is unacceptable.
Absolutely 10/10! Montreal classic that I had been meaning to try forever. Now that I finally tried it I can say it is absolutely worth the hype. The food was insanely good (I’ll be dreaming about the clam chowder clams which was their special for the weekend) and the steak frite was excellent. Service was TOP (Sasha) our waiter was kind, helpful and made us feel so welcome. The rest of the staff (Ben and CiCi) were also amazing and make the whole experience that much better. Shoutout to Ben for singing happy birthday to me it was iconic hahaha. Safe to say this has become one of my top spots, I will 100% be back.
This place is incredible. The Lobster Pasta was outrageous!
