We went to Les Vieilles Portes this past Saturday and were very disappointed with our experience. The appetizer course was excellent — I would rate it 5/5. However, the service and main courses were far below expectations. Our waitress, Sabrina B., took our order but did not return to refill our water or wine, nor to check if we wanted to order another bottle. We asked to wait before ordering our main course since the appetizers were quite large, which was respected. Unfortunately, when the main courses arrived, all of the plates were served cold. We sent the mashed potatoes back; although the container returned warm, the mashed potatoes inside were still cold. The meats (veal and filet mignon) were also cold, and the green beans were heavily over-seasoned to the point of tasting as if too much salt had been added. When we expressed our disappointment, the response from the server felt indifferent. We also mentioned it again when our plates were cleared. I asked to speak with the on-duty manager. He offered us dessert, which we declined, and then offered a discount, which we appreciated but honestly did not change how disappointed we felt. For a dinner of over $250 for two people, the experience was unacceptable. The evening was ruined, and unfortunately we will not be returning.

We’ve been wanting to visit each time we’re up north and NYE did not disappoint. I’m pretty sure this spot is the best food in Saint-Sauveur and the whole après-ski vibe/ post dinner is well worth a fun night too. On sera de retour!
