I was looking for a coffee shop open on Christmas Day since most places in Canada were closed. I stumbled upon Le Petit Dep, which is popular with tourists in Montreal because it’s right beside Notre Dame Basilica. The exterior looks very aesthetic, and inside there was a long line. The space is small, so you may need to wait to sit. I ordered a latte and their almond croissant, and both were excellent. The croissant was worth every bite and good value for money. After, I checked their shop and bought some chocolates for friends. I didn’t see the prices and was shocked when the bill came to $130 for 8 chocolates, lesson learned! Overall, the experience was very enjoyable. Great coffee, amazing croissant, beautiful spot. I’ll definitely come back but will ask prices first next time.

What guests say about Le Petit Dep|Café-Épicerie Fine|St-Paul
Le Petit Dep is especially appreciated for its warm and cute atmosphere, tasteful decor, and its café-gourmet grocery feel with several local products and souvenirs. The coffee, pastries, and various drinks receive a lot of positive comments, although some find the place small, busy, and sometimes slow. A few reviews also mention uneven service, the lack of restrooms, and rules that do not suit everyone, such as not allowing laptops.
