30$ for grilled cheese (39+ tax and tips!)? Edit: the elevated grilled cheese experience was mushroom and some bacon. I did not find it to be an elevated experience aside from the pricing.
Reviews / Ratings for Le Passé Composé (Plateau Mont-Royal)
Passé Composé is definitely a name that I've heard before so it definitwly piqued my interest so it intrigued me to walk in during my stroll on Mont Royal on the weekend. The place was quite packed; to be expected on Easter weekend, but the staff was very nice and found a table for us. We ordered the french toast and the bagel sandwich. The decor was great, very à jour and spacious and inviting, however I cannot say the same for the food. The french toast was a disaster. The bread was lackluster: it was very oily and soggy. Drenched in grease, you can barely taste anything, but oil and batter. The strawberries were sliced with their stems still on, leaving leaves on my plate which was, not a pretty sight to see. It was also a very very heavy dish for french toasts. As for the bagel, there was something off putting about the taste. The bagel was a wonderful sight to see as my choice was made quickly after seeing the lady next to me order it... but the taste was quite dissapointing. You do get the portion of food for your buck, but the taste was quite bland. The spread lacks a kick, and the fried avocado is "okay". The fried Jalapeño that came with it was kind of odd and didn't really fit with the dish as well as the slice of lime. The presentation is spectacular, but the dish was lacking flavor and cohesion overall.
One of the best brunches I've ever had, anywhere. Simply spectacular!
They're killing it at this location too. Tables could have been a little larger, but only because we went all out and ordered a plethora of items. This time, we tried the rustic poached eggs and Croque monsieur, with the essential slice of French toast. We both had delicious espresso-based drinks. The location is well decorated and a pleasing place to go for a date. Not loud, good daytime spot.
They don’t have brioche foie gras double portion option which I always take in the old port :(((
Bad service, bad food. A shade of what passe composé used to be.
