What guests say about Le Don

Le Don receives a lot of praise for its creative, flavorful, and often beautifully presented vegan cuisine, with several people saying they would return even though they are not vegan. The service is generally described as warm, attentive, and fast, and the atmosphere as cozy, lively, or original. A few reviews do mention high prices, uneven service at times, and dishes that do not appeal to everyone, especially some Asian-inspired options.

I promise, the pictures will all look great, but…Vegan of over 20 years who loves to eat out. Don was just ok. It would be three stars if it were worth the cost. It felt part of a growing number of places that prioritize presentation over quality of ingredients and preparation. I was asking, is this simply private equity “doing vegan?” Service was excellent. I ate there for dinner. I would bet breakfast would probably be better as the one highlight was the dessert. I had lunch at Les Mauvaises Herbes and liked the funkier vibe and food better.

My friend had a 9 month old baby, who was asleep when we initially entered. My friend is vegan, I am gluten free and there was options for both of us. The vegan steak was absolutely mind blowing in its presentation and flavour. The mushroom risotto was also superb, but the vegan steak was a show stopper and we've come across one that amazing before. The Don recommended to us, and we would recommend it to anyone! They were happy to have the in the pram in the restaurant, and even suggested a good place to change a nappy. Even when the baby started woke up and started crying the staff were very accommodating. Please visit The Don!!

An unsatisfactory food experience :( We picked this place as the menu looked great and we were in the mood for some Asian food. The Donplings (dumplings) were good and the Thai coconut soup was tasty too. But our main dishes were not good :( We ordered Pad Thai (which had the wrong sauce, tasted like strong soy sauce base), Bi Bim Bap (not the right flavors) and Tantaramen. So I would not recommend it for Asian food. :( Felt like we paid a lot for not being satisfied with the flavor. Staff was nice but service was very slow.

We ordered take-out from Le Don. I’m vegetarian so I had been excited about this place and was looking forward to it. After having tried it I don’t understand all the rave reviews, maybe they’re for the ambiance more than the food because mine was disappointing for sure. We ordered the pad Thai and honestly it seemed like it lacked any basic flavor. I wouldn’t even bother writing a review but in the name of a Vegan restaurant it seems like they overcharge you and don’t provide basic taste. This one dish was almost $30 which is ridiculous.

Great vegetarian options! We ordered the Coco Thai Soup and the Bibimbap, and both were incredibly flavorful and satisfying — they really hit the spot for our Asian taste buds. The service was also very kind and sweet. Definitely a place we’d recommend anyone visiting.

Always love to support a fully vegan restaurant, and happy to see that they were busy when we visited mid-week! The food was enjoyable and the service really friendly. The interior was super cute, but it was a nice evening so we sat out on the patio, which was lovely. Great spot in the city to enjoy a meal whether you are vegan/veg, or not!

My husband and I had a lovely, delicious, and healthy dinner here. We started with the beet tartar and spinach and artichoke dip, then had the mushroom risotto and gnocchi. The dishes warmed our souls from the inside out during unusually cold spring weather. Staff were super friendly and the food was spectacular. We would come back to Quebec just for another laid back and excellent vegan dinner at Don.

The lunch deal is excellent value, the vegan burrito was the best we've ever had so far and I know we will be thinking of it for a long time. The ceaser salad was great. The location being nestled right in Quebec city makes it an easy stop for vegan patrons.

The coconut Thai soup was genuinely disappointing — poorly flavored and not something I’d recommend to anyone. The food overall didn’t meet expectations, and I wouldn’t return for it. What made the experience worse was the service. When we reacted, she became condescending — making remarks like “is this your first time here?” and commenting that staff don’t get paid enough. That kind of response to a legitimate complaint is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. A dining experience should not end with a customer feeling lectured and guilted. This one did.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Le Don during our visit to Québec City the first week of April. The restaurant was recommended to us by the staff of Atypiq Hotel and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is located in the port district, at the adjacent an extensive area of historical buildings containing art galleries, Michelin starred restaurants, and assorted shops. The ambience is hip and trendy, well suited for couples and small groups. The menu features a wide variety of starters, mains and desserts, along with a nice mix of cocktails and mocktails. We tried the Panko Cauliflower and the Artichoke Dip with chips. Both were delicious, though we felt the Artichoke Dip would have been better heated. My wife had the Pasta Bolognese for her main course, while I had the Mushroom Fettuccine. Quite tasty and the portion sizes were generous (so much so we had to skip dessert). There was only one server on duty that night but he was terrific and we didn't have to wait long for anything. Also, shout out to the friendly kitchen staff who responded personally to our praise for their efforts.

Concised menu ranging from Dan Dan noodles, crater salad, impossible burger, gnocchi, to steak! Love the friendly and professional staff, too. Stopped by two nights in a row because it’s the best if not the only vegan options on Sunday/ Monday night. Make sure you save room for dessert.
