And interesting take on a cinnamon bun, it was more pull-apart like a croissant which was quite satisfying to eat. If you are are looking for a classic cinnamon bun you will be disappointed (especially by the royal icing which is quite sweet and dry) but expectations aide I would eat it again. The sourdough bread was also unxpectedly mellow in flavour but had a phenomenal texture and made an excellent grilled cheese sandwich.
Reviews / Ratings for Le Butterblume
I had a reservation at 1pm, but the restaurant was so busy and hectic that I had to wait another 25m to be seated. Since I was a single person, I was seated at the bar where you can see the kitchen in full view and watch everything be prepared. So while the restaurant looks cool, it was also loud. So it's not a peaceful lunch spot. But it was on a Saturday. However I found the service to be great, because of the delay they served me a drink and coffee without charge. I found all the staff to be pretty attentive and quick as well. Overall satisfied with the food. I had a savory and sweet leek and cheese bread-cake, along with a separate plate of gravlax that leaned sour and salty. They paired well together. Most of the menu isn't actually a full main meal, so I'd expect to order 2 different things to feel full and satisfied.
You are getting high quality, fresh and local food. Yes the price is high because that is the cost for fresh real food. The menu changes constantly reflecting whats available and in season. Those complaining about lack of taste, high price and long wait should go eat at large and cheap commercial chains where half the menu is frozen and just needs to be microwaved thus faster service. Butterblume dont ever change.
Very small brunch menu but food was pretty good. Attentive and quick service, but seating is tight and tables are quite small.
Le Butterblume has become a regular stop for us on our way into Montréal. Their menu is loooooovely and creative - and the people are great. We like to sit at the bar and watch the pros do their thing. It's fun. But table service is great, too. Go!
Butterblum is simply one of our favorite brunch spots. It has become our go-to place whenever we’re craving a great brunch. The menu is fantastic, the staff is always lovely, and the ambience is warm and inviting. There’s so much creativity packed into this little place, which makes every visit feel special. We’ve been going so often that the staff and even the chef now recognize us, which makes the experience feel even more welcoming. We absolutely adore this place and always look forward to coming back.
Here is my really honest review, the food is good but nothing extraordinary, what is amazing is how over prized it is for the size of plates, i paid for carrot toast no protein $25, 25 mins wait, $6.50 for a mini chai tea, no english menu, it is just overrated, small tables, not nice seating. Seems just like a trend rather than well rated. Wouldnt come again. Btw service was friendly but took them a life time. There was a couple that took them like 15 mins to order.
The raviolis are incredible
