⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful Halloween evening at Le Balthazar with our friends! A special thank you to Yara, our lovely waitress, who made our experience even more memorable. She looked absolutely stunning in her beautiful Halloween costume and creative makeup, perfectly capturing the spirit of the night! 🎃✨ Beyond her charming appearance, Yara was exceptionally professional, friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout the evening. Her positive energy and outstanding service added a special touch to our celebration. Great place, the food and the mocktails are excellent. For entrée, I recommend the nachos with the cheese-spinach dip; we order them every time now. My only complaint is the music can sometimes be so loud it's hard to hear each other.

Our server Zac was fantastic. It was my first time in Montreal for my birthday and I enjoyed our time there. Drinks was reasonably priced, atmosphere inviting and fun, not to mention the live DJ.

We went to Balthazar because we were given gift cards and were excited to try it. We had a 4:30 p.m. reservation, which was the only time available that day, so we understood that the timing was a little early. However, since this is more of a dinner time than a time when people would typically be going for drinks, I was disappointed with where we were seated. We were placed at a small two-person table right at the entrance of the bar, surrounded by approximately eight bartenders and servers who were chatting amongst themselves. It made the experience feel more like we were sitting in the middle of a staff area than having a dinner at a restaurant. To make matters worse, one of the male employees came out from the back of the restaurant with his pants unbuttoned and unzipped and his stomach exposed. Although nothing inappropriate was visible, I found it very unprofessional and not something you would expect to see in a restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing. My partner ordered the calamari appetizer, which he found to be just okay but extremely greasy. I ordered the demi “classic” poutine, which came with peppercorn sauce. It was not very good, and I was actually unsure whether there had been a mistake with the order. Another dish on the menu specifically features poutine with peppercorn sauce, while the “classic” poutine is supposed to come with regular poutine gravy. For his main, my partner ordered the crispy chicken burger. The menu did not mention that the batter was dill-flavoured, which was unexpected and not to his taste. More importantly, the chicken was severely undercooked and could not be eaten. I ordered the Mac & Rack. The mac and cheese itself was actually quite good, but unfortunately, the ribs were extremely dry. Our server was very sweet, apologetic, and handled the situation professionally. He removed the chicken burger from our bill and also gave us a discount, which we appreciated. However, despite his efforts, the overall experience was disappointing enough that I would not return to this restaurant. We also noticed that the couple sitting next to us did not seem particularly impressed with their meals either. One of their dishes was a cut of meat that appeared to be quite burnt.
