The service is very good and the food. For reference, I mainly took seafood and meat + noodle and the price is acceptable(~25$). The atmosphere is pretty nice.

Super fun experience and you get a great deal for what you're getting. $20 a bowl, yes, but that can be a bunch of shrimp and duck breast. Went with the classic base and it was delicious.

Went there with friends. Honestly a bit underwhelming… I took the dry base and it was basically the ingredients I chose boiled with sesame sauce and chili oil thrown on… Not worth the 30+ I paid for. They give free ice cream at the end which is nice.

Hi Zhiqi, Thank you for your feedback — we’re sorry to hear the experience felt underwhelming. Our dry base is designed to be a lighter, sauce-based option, which can feel quite different from our soup bases. We understand that taste preferences can vary, and it may not suit everyone’s expectations. We’ll continue working on improving the flavor balance and overall experience. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

The waitresses weren't very friendly and took a long time to serve us: a friend of mine asked for a fork instead of chopsticks, and the soup went from hot to lukewarm. They should offer a wider selection of noodles. The broth is excellent, and the ingredients (especially the seafood) are very fresh.

A great twist on a familiar concept. Call it hot pot, or soup noodle, it is a fun new spot and deserves to be highly rated. The establishment is clean, many choices for your personal bowl, great drinks and nice touch with the ice cream. Service is really fantastic and friendly. Expect to pay a small premium but, given you get exactly what you want, it is worth it.

Montréal has always been weaker in comparison to Toronto and Vancouver when it comes to good Asian food. I’m very glad that is slowly changing with many new fantastic establishments opening up, and one of the front runner in bringing this change is La Soupiere Malataang. This is a truly incredible place. The raw meat selection is fantastic and very fresh. The vegetable options are decent but nothing to write home oabout. The meat selection is on the other hand is good. The broth options are fantastic too and they are incredibly rich and full bodied. As a torontonian native and having tried Malataang in Toronto, I am happy that Montreal probably has one of the best Malataang restaurant between the both cities. The drinks are great. The milk tea is an underrated cheat code in the city. For 3.99 it beats out many other milk tea spots in its vicinity. The servers are incredible, extremely professional and will go out of their way to accommodate you fully. They are always checking in on you and serving you with a smile. I really hope they can keep their early momentum going for a very long time. We need more of these restaurants in Montreal

This was my first time coming here, and the staff were friendly. However, I was disappointed with the soup. I tried both the mala and the tom yum, and neither of them tasted good. The malatang was bland and lacked the spicy, numbing flavor I was craving (I was really looking forward to it, which is why I decided to come). The tom yum was overly sour. I tried my best to finish the solid ingredients but left the soup. Overall, I’m very disappointed.

Hi Emily, Thank you for your feedback — we’re really sorry to hear that the soups didn’t meet your expectations. We’ve shared your comments with our kitchen team and will be reviewing both the mala and tom yum bases to better balance the flavors, especially the spice level and acidity. If you’re open to it, we’d love to invite you back for another visit and give you a better experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share this with us.

Similar to Chinese hotpot, the service is buffet-style with a selection of different soup bases. As someone who typically has a smaller appetite, I appreciated the pricing by weight (approx $4.49/100g). The soup choice is included in the price. The ingredients are quite varied, even for a vegetarian like myself. In fact, for a $35 pot, the serving was already more than plenty. The soup flavour for the #9 Singaporean was creamy and mild spicy. I really enjoyed the experience but I would say the soups are a bit too salty. I'd ask in future to see if this is something that can be modified. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, explaining well the system for a first-time customer. I would return, but with an emptier stomach.

This restaurant delivers an excellent dining experience from start to finish. The menu offers a wide variety of broths, including both mild and spicy options, each well‑balanced and aromatic. Ingredient quality is clearly a priority — vegetables were crisp, meats were well‑marbled, and seafood tasted fresh. Service was efficient and friendly, with staff checking in regularly without being intrusive. The space is clean, comfortable, and well‑ventilated, which makes a big difference. Overall, a reliable and delicious choice for anyone craving a satisfying meal. The unli ice cream is a plus! :) will surely comeback to bring more friends.

My friends recommended me La soupière so I had high expectations. I went on April 6th on Easter Monday, took the Laksa soup base and it was just way too salty. Usually laksa soup should taste a bit sweet with coconot flavours but the soup base I got yesterday just tasted salty… I was super disappointed and will not go back again. Maybe the quality was less good as usual on a holiday but… again it shouldn’t. I do not recommend.

Good food, but rude host and unhygienic. I wish I get a pair of chopsticks when I am waiting for food to mix the sauce

Thank you for your feedback — we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We’re very sorry to hear about your experience with our host. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we will address this with our team. Regarding hygiene, we take this very seriously and follow strict procedures. If you’re open to sharing more details about what felt unhygienic, we would really appreciate it so we can review and improve. There's a small waiting time but you can leave your name and your phone number and the restaurant will send you a message when the table is free. Do take in consideration that you might have to wait close to 30 mins for a table though. The restaurant is pretty small and it's pretty cramped inside. Going in between the tables is quite difficult so it made it a bit less enjoyable. The service was pretty friendly and patient, taking the time to explain to us how it works. The food was tasty as well. I really enjoyable the flavours of the soup, the light spiciness complements the rest of the flavour and the best part is that you can customise all of it. The meal can be different every time you go because you get to pick all the ingredients inside and that makes it so fun. It' only 4.99$ a pound but it does go up quickly so be mindful of that. In the end, it was about 20$ a bowl which is still acceptable for the portion. Especially if you are picking all your favourites.

Soup tastes great and a lot of options, premium ingredients that i dont see often. Signature drink tasted good. Overall slightly more expensive than other similar places. (If this is your first malatang, I would recommend stopping filling your bowl at around 80% of what you think you should have in your bowl.) Otherwise, the price might go up faster than you expect.

The price is calculated by weight so it comes to 4,49$ / 100g for ingredients of your choice. The sauce bar, the broth and the ice cream are included in the total price. Would really recommend !
