An innovative menu. Wonderful flavours of spring. Friendly service. An excellent meal. Looking forward to returning.
What guests say about La Petite Primerose
La Petite Primerose is often described as a great dining experience, with creative dishes, original flavors, and generally warm, attentive service. Several reviews also highlight a pleasant atmosphere, a good wine selection, and options for certain dietary needs. However, some customers find the portions small and the prices high, and a few meals or dishes were considered inconsistent. If you're looking for inventive, carefully prepared cuisine, it's definitely worth a visit.

Food was delicious, inventive and good portion sizes. Service was warm and friendly in French and English. Ambiance is bright and modern. Excited to go back and try the other menu items but the biscuits with in-house cultured butter and jam, eggs Benedict, pancakes and potatoes are all winners! Update! We went back to La Petite Primerose to celebrate our anniversary and we were blown away by the warm welcome and unforgettable dining experience. Every bite of food was so well balanced and delicious. An evening we won’t soon forget!
Came for a date night and we both got the "let us feed you" option. Everything was meticulously thought out, with flavours that were unexpected but extremely welcome. I have to say the 35 day aged pork was fantastic. I would say the value for money here is excellent, as we left extremely satisfied. The service was spot on, and they catered to our every need with a smile. We look forward to returning to enjoy another meal.
Outstanding spring meal. The foraged morels with nettle puree were fabulous as was the sablefish with stuffed onions. A real find.
Best food I’ve ever had. ELITE
Cool space, great service, inventive dishes, but unfortunately we only really enjoyed one of the 8 dishes we ordered. Just a little lacking in execution. Worth a visit but we likely won’t be returning.
We had a lovely evening of delicious food and wine pairings. We will be back for our next date night!
Exquisite food, top tier from start to finish, with Amberjack (it was fantastic!), Tartare de Boeuf, Bok Choy (a standout highlight), and Jeune Chou Kale delivered with meticulous technique, vibrant flavors, and pristine execution. We had lovely talks with the co-owners and staff who shared about the dishes. The resto offers a calm, inviting ambiance. The service is warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional, enhancing the overall experience. The wine selection, including a fabulous Quebec bubbles, paired beautifully with the plates. In short: superb food, outstanding hospitality, and a refined, memorable dining experience. Highly recommended.
This was the 3rd stop in a 4 stop wine excursion on a Friday night. And it was hands down the absolute best of them all! Small, open, and tucked away in what actually feels like the perfect spot. My friend and I ate at the Kitchen bar, which meant we had full access to the staff for advice on what to order, as well as all the insights as they prepared food for the other patrons. We let the somelier and co-owner recommend a wine and it was just incredible - and he was involved in its making, which is always a great tidbit to know. I don’t think you could go wrong with anything on the menu and my particular joy was the very detailed discussion I had about their butter making process. You know when the butter is so carefully made that EVERYTHING is going to be amazing.
Only 3 slices of bread for 3 people. Tartare was plane with crumbs which took away from the meat. Proportions could me more generous. Service was friendly and the atmosphere cozy. Really expected better considering the reviews.
Le petit primerose impressed from the start with the light atmosphere, well thought out dishes, and professional staff. Mel, our server, took the time to explain every dish with detail, provided recommendations, and very professional. A must for any occasion!
Everything was delicious, even my ice-cold martini. Next time I’ll leave room for dessert!!
My wife, daughter and I had the pleasure of a dinner at La Petite Primerose last week. The food was incredible - very creative offerings and full of flavour. Our daughter is gluten-free and there were plenty of options for her as well. Our compliments to the chefs and the rest of the team for an amazing meal and wonderful service.
Excellent dining experience, top notch food, great service. Couldn’t be better
A wonderful dining experience! Knowledgeable and friendly staff, delicious food and great service!Highly recommend, will return.
We had an exceptional dining experience for six adults. Every dish was fresh, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive—and truly elevated the evening. The chef was knowledgeable and passionate, taking the time to explain the menu, while the sommelier provided excellent recommendations that paired perfectly with our meal. A flawless experience from start to finish. Highly recommend! We’ll be back! Thank you so much
Amazing food, a true symphony of flavours. Everything was absolutely delicious, made with local meat and produce. There wasn’t a single dish that stood out above the rest because every plate was equally unique and exceptional. The place was packed, so we sat at the kitchen bar where we could watch the food being prepared and were entertained by Alex and one of the owners. We felt very lucky to have found this place! I’m Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates great food and a wonderful atmosphere and service. Urszula
The TEAM at La Petite Primrose is as remarkable as the food they serve. The dynamic between all the staff is almost as remarkable as the variety of textures and flavors. I am still thinking about which of the ten things we tried was the best. You could taste the time and effort put into coming up with and making each dish. We’re lucky to have these guys around and I hope that every person will have the opportunity to dine here at least once in their life.
What a wonderful hidden gem - service was attentive, super knowledgable and not over bearing. Food was inventive and delicious with so many local ingredients. The dining room was bustling with tables and guests at the bar. Would definitely visit again - soon!
Inventive and delicious menu. Cocktails alcoholic and non were inspired. Yummy wine. Already planning our next visit!
10/10 must visit if visiting Ottawa or Gatinau. Loved all the savoury dishes, especially the scallops and duck breast. We also tried the bread, raddicio with raw tuna, potatoes and black cod. Honestly everything was amazing. We also tried both the apricot and summer berry desserts, which I would skip next time. The star ingredients were overpowered by other elements of the dish. The berries especially could not hold their own to the coffee flavors, while the oat mousse in the apricot dish was overly sweet. That being said, the savory dishes were just elite and I would love to come back.
The best meal I’ve had in my life. Last week I went to Mon Lapin restaurant in Montreal which is considered to be the #2 restaurant in Canada. This was far ahead of that, food was incredible!
cocktails a bit pricey, but excellent overall
Amazing place and excellent food 🥘
Délicieux! We had a lovely quiet cosy evening meal at La Petite Primerose. Attentive and charming service and the most delectable dishes, with our favorites being the beef tartare and the duck (prepped two ways) with carrots... Still thinking about the Yum!
