Friday April 10 8:20 pm, we’re waiting in line to get in. The host comes in saying it’s 15-30min. There’s a couple behind us and one of them is a famous quebecois singer who’s also waiting to get in. As we get out they ask us how long we tell them what the host says. Immediately she asks if the bar is okay to them completely skipping us. When we complained she lies straight to our faces telling us they had a reservation when it’s clear they didn’t. Will never try again why give money to a place where they disrespect customers.
Reviews / Ratings for La Capital Tacos
We were sat before three other tables. All those tables recieved water and menus and we didnt. We asked for menus and they said no problem and they still didnt bring them after five minutes but started taking orders of the other tables who sat after us. We ended up leaving after 15 minutes without even a menu.
Excellent taco restaurant with a local vibe. The taco interpretation is mix, but it works, even for someone from the southwest and very familiar with Mexican cuisine. They even have a full bar, the location is cool too. Great vibe, great food, seems like a local favorite, well worth the stop and would visit again
food was so good and the waitress was amazing. down side: if you’re really hungry you’ll probably have to take 2 plates ( portions are really small) so it does end up being a little expensive. drink was amazong
the BEST tacos in Montreal.
Amazing quality! handmade tortillas, authentic meals and specially imported items - plus best staff you could ask for 💃🏻
5s across the board! Wonderful buzz about the place; quick, efficient, friendly service. And my first Jarritos! Highly recommend for a fun bite out in Montreal.
Food was good, also good service, just a bit noisy (music, voices) but i ordered carnitas taco amd flavor was good, portion too for light supper
La Capital Tacos is a great spot if you’re craving authentic Mexican flavors. The tacos were absolutely delicious — super flavorful, well seasoned, and served on fresh tortillas with simple, quality toppings. The consommé on the side was a nice touch and added even more depth to the meal. We also tried a few sides and everything was on point, especially the balance of flavors and freshness. The place itself has a really nice vibe — clean, modern, and cozy without trying too hard. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything came out quickly. Overall, a solid spot that delivers on both quality and experience. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into tacos.
I went for the third time last night and the tacos are amazing every time! My favourite ones are the birria tacos :) My friend and I shared a Quesadilla too, it was delicious! Not only was the food great, but our waitress Sonia was really funny and a great vibe to end the day with! Thank you Sonia!! <3
Love coming here, delicious food.
Returned after 5+ years and was disappointed. The food quality seems to have gone downhill, and my friends all agreed. The birria tacos came without cheese, and the medium guacamole portion was small with no option for a large. Drinks were good, but with so many great Mexican spots in Montreal, this one didn’t stand out. Hopefully it was just an off night.
A must stop each time we are in town. The best vibes and margaritas.
Incredible Tacos. The best Mexican eatery in Montreal by far.
The food was good, as usual. I went at lunchtime. It was not empty at all. The service was very bad. It took them ages to take our order and they missed one item.
Ordered the Birria Tacos and the Tres Leches Cake. Just perfection. Service was fast paced and efficient!! Gotta make a reservation. I was lucky to find a spot in the bar! I give this place 5 mexican flags 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
We loved Sonia! Best server ever! Experience was amazing
Amazing service from Sonia, delicious food nice atmosphere. The pirata quesadilla is a must try.
Food was great, Sonia? Fantastic Love the food love the service
I have visited this place a lot. The food is usually good but the last time I visited, I felt the quality was not the same. This was extremely frustrating due to the relatively high prices for the portion size. Regarding the atmosphere, it has always bothered me since it is a small restaurant with many tables that are very close. It is usually really hard to sit down and talk since it gets extremely noisy.
Good food! Can get quite busy during peak hours.
Absolutely delicious
Good overall, not the best mexican you can have in MTL in my opinion, tacos and atmospher ok. Great staff/service though.
I want to add some context to my previous review. Normally, La Capital’s food is delicious, which is exactly why I recommended this restaurant for a large office order. This was not a random choice — it was based on good past experiences and the quality of the food. Unfortunately, this particular order was a big disappointment for me. As mentioned, I ordered a cochinita torta and made it very clear that it should not include cheese, due to both intolerance and personal preference. Despite that, the torta arrived with a large layer of melted cheese, making it impossible for me to eat. That’s what made this situation especially frustrating: having high expectations based on how good the food usually is, and then not being able to enjoy it at all. Again, I do want to highlight the positive side — the order for 12 people was handled very well in terms of organization, individual packaging, and name labeling, which I truly appreciate. I hope this feedback helps improve attention to special requests in the future, because when things are done right, your food really is excellent.
