We came as a group of 10 people with children for lunch. We arrived at 12:10pm and didn’t have a reservation but they were nice and accommodating at the front to set us up a table. Once seated, nobody explained to us that there’s a QR code for the menu, so we waited a little until we noticed the one QR code, which was not obvious, on a promotions menu. We got our orders taken but it then took an hour to receive our food. From the time we arrived at 12:10pm, to being seated and ordering, we received our food at around 1:40pm. Worst part is the children’s’ food came last and other people who we noticed arrived after we did got their food before. Nobody came to proactively apologize about the long wait due to being short staffed and very busy, until we flagged the server to ask as it had been a while and our children were very hungry. In the meantime they brought us a small plate of fries to share. In hindsight we should’ve realized it was a mistake to come during a busy game like the Champions League, but for a popular sports restaurant you’d think it wouldn’t be an issue. The ambiance for the game was nice. Despite speaking with the staff, we didn’t get any compensation for the long wait except the bowl of fries. The food is very overpriced-one basic nachos with added chicken is $35+tax, if you want to add guacamole it’s an extra $5.75 so you’re looking at over $40 for a nachos which is outrageous.
What guests say about La Cage
La Cage in Saint-Laurent is mainly appreciated for its sports bar atmosphere, with big screens, a great vibe for games, and a place that is often lively. Several customers mention warm and attentive service, although a few reviews note delays, uneven service experiences, and the kitchen closing fairly early. As for the food, the dishes are often considered good to very good, with decent portions, but the quality seems to vary depending on what is ordered, and some find it nothing exceptional.

We went to the restaurant with 4 children. Order was taken rather quickly but 90% of our food took over an hour and twenty minutes to receive and the remaining 10% we never received. Unacceptable to take forever to bring food to kids. Spoke to the manager who didn’t do anything. Disappointing!
Really nice!
Went for a business dinner, sat in the high tables by the bar, had to wait 20 mins before drinks arrived, waited another 20-30 minutes before bartender came back to take food order, we were ready to leave at this point. We ordered our food which arrived fairly fast and was good, bartender came asked if I wanted another drink, said yes then received nothing, she came back when I was almost done my meal asking if we needed anything, said a beer and she had totally forgotten about the order previously. Service was horrible and I will not bring people back to this restaurant. Worst experience i have had in Montreal at a resturant, I travel all over and usually really enjoy my time eating in Montreals great resturants but this is definately not one of them based on the service we received. Was not even that busy. Visited on 05/26/26 @19:00
The lady working behind the bar was super busy and appeared to be upset about it. Not a friendly person.
I’ve now been to Cage Aux Sports for 4 games, and every single time the experience has been outstanding. The service is consistently impeccable, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the food has been excellent every visit. The atmosphere during the games is exactly what you want as a sports fan — energetic, fun, and welcoming. It’s become my go to spot to watch sports, and honestly, I wouldn’t watch a game anywhere else. Huge compliments to the entire team for delivering such a consistently great experience.
It’s a nice place to catch a match, but I wouldn't recommend it for a family dinner. The food is pretty average. Plus, ordering is unnecessarily complicated—you actually have to download their app and sign up to become a member just to be allowed to order off the children's menu.
The staff was very welcoming and the ordering was very easy. We had a lovely meal and the general atmosphere was very nice. I will definitely be back to explore more of the menu in the future. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a consistently great experience and vibe.
This was one of the smoother dining experiences I’ve had lately. Ordering was easy, the staff were warm and polite, and the food tasted excellent. The atmosphere felt lively yet comfortable. Looking forward to visiting again sometime soon.
Poutin was great. Good variety on the menu. Friendly staff.
Good atmosphere for the Canadien playoffs Clean and super staff It doesn’t compare to the one Jockeys avenue, where we had multiple bad experiences
I understand a hockey game brings allot of business but one person looking to sit down and have a beer especially from out of town and you offer a chair and I mean just a chair beside your pop corn machine that’s rude. There was plenty of room at the bar or even empty tables to put me at. I was treated like an after thought no effort in making me feel welcome more like make me feel like an out cast. I’ll say this first impression is a big thing and I won’t come back but if people ask I’ll be sure to say don’t waste your time. The only staff that smiled was the hostess.
I went there many times and it was good time spend with my family and friends
Don't normally do a 4 star review, but here's why. First visit to Canada, really wanted to try poutine. For the Brits here it's cheesy chips and gravy. Unfortunately the local kebab house has better options, even with bisto being used. Chef tried to use fresh potatoes but didn't remove starch, not a great finish. Ribs were a good portion, slightly tough. I know it's not a smoke house, but neither is Harvester in the UK. Our Canadian friends have a lot to learn from the south! Service is exceptional, hence the 4 not 3 stars. Beer is questionable, glasses from 2022 in service resulting in no head. Overall yeah, if your stopping here for a flight it's not too bad.
Went there with the guys after work. Hockey was on and the place was packed. Food, drinks, and atmosphere was incredible! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that’s in the area!
Great service amazing place.
Great burger
hot honey chicken plate wasn't spicy but all good and delicious, for dessert french toast with ice-cream was very good and melton cake was amazing!
Overpriced for the food and experience. More upscale than a sports bar/pub should be. Not necessarily a blue collar place for lunch.
Went there with my cousin and his son to watch the Habs win it 7-3! Had the duo tartare plate....was really good. Service was great and you get unlimited free popcorn 🍿
Food was average, service was good. Wings were small, burger was not very juicy, quite dry. For what seems like fresh cut fries, they tasted dry and stale. Poutine sauce was mostly just congealed. Calamari pieces were super tiny, no substance to it. Dj played music over the Habs game, would’ve been nice to hear the game commentary.
A really good sports bar. Good space nice seating. Good choice of drinks. surprisingly good sports bar type of food. The one thing that I can say was not good and our table all agreed was the French fries. Low quality,, bad taste and burnt. We were a table of 25 office workers .. everyone agreed the fries are just the worst. But the wings are amazing and the nachos and burgers are really good.
I had a great experience at La Cage – Brasserie Sportive. The ambience was lively and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a good meal. The atmosphere really adds to the overall experience. A special thank you to our server, Maxim, who provided outstanding service. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was taken care of throughout our visit. Her positive attitude and professionalism truly elevated the evening. Great service like this makes all the difference. I’ll definitely be happy to come back again! 🍽️👏 That said, I did have a small concern during the visit. I tried to get the attention of another server, Stephanie, simply to ask where the restroom was, but she seemed to avoid eye contact and walked past without acknowledging me. It felt a bit dismissive and not very customer-friendly. Hopefully this is noted by the management and taken care off.
Very nice staff food was testy and I got served for what I paid for the whole ribs are delicious and well seasoned
I want to mention here about the Moroccan male (only mustache no beard) waiter here. He was not doing what he is supposed to do. Not checking on the table, not asking if we need something. Forget about basic courtesies like how are you upon welcoming. Suddenly when you are paying him around 70 CAD tips for 6 of us, he started yelling about tips as of we need to tip more around other guests. Like really? Is it a tip or a robbery? We were courteous enough to give you tips even we had one of the worst service i got and trust me on this I have been to 97 cities of the world. And then you school me on 'how you gave a good service and we didn't tip you enough'? Stop begging and start doing something else if you don't get paid enough. We have given you enough business with food and alcohol and along with that the tip even after you don't deserve one bit of it. I request the management to take strict action against these deeds else you can't retain customers, like I'm not gonna come here next time I'm in this place. Again, for the guy and the management if you arr watching this, TIPPING IS ONLY VALID WHEN I GET GOOD SERVICE, YOU CANNOT FORCE ME FOR THAT, THATS ROBBERY! BE BETTER, DO GOOD SERVICE INSTEAD OF BEGGING FOR MONEY, IT WILL COME ORGANICALLY.
