A walkable café recommended by my son—lovely setting, and the staff were both beautiful and gentle. Since it was a workday, it wasn’t crowded. I had a latte, which was rich and flavorful, and the staff warmed up the bread, making it taste even better.

The atmosphere and the decoration is nice and it is quite big, enough space for a coffee place but their prices and the food quality doesn't match( overpriced for what you get). We were charged extra to use our laptops despite ordering food and drinks. I wouldn’t return or recommend it—there are better places to work without added fees.

Hi Mahshad, We’re glad you enjoyed the atmosphere and space. Just to clarify, your experience relates to our Le Loft coworking space, which operates differently from our Buvette. To maintain a comfortable environment for those working, access is offered through a pass ($5 for 3 hours or $7 for the day), which also includes 20% off beverages. Regarding pricing and food quality, we use high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, and our pricing reflects the cost of supporting these producers and maintaining that standard. We understand this concept may not suit everyone and wish you all the best. La Buvette du Dep

$7 for a watery latte and when I pulled out my laptop they told me I needed to go upstairs and pay $5 an hour, no thanks. Good luck keeping this place full.

Hi Stéphanie, We’re sorry to hear the latte wasn’t to your liking — we would have happily remade it for you on the spot. Regarding laptops, our upstairs space is a dedicated coworking area, which helps us maintain a comfortable environment for all guests while covering the costs associated with seating, WiFi, and workspace usage. The $5 covers 3 hrs and $7 for the day. The passes also give you a 20% discount on your drinks. We understand this may not suit everyone, and wish you all the best.

Oh my! This place is super loud with the music, an average of 99 dB in a café is quite loud. If you spend hours there regularly, it could strain your ears.

Hi, Thank you for coming by. In the evening, we operate more as a restaurant than a café, which does come with a different atmosphere. That said, we understand that the music experience is important, and it may be more about the selection than the volume itself. We’re currently working on refining our music direction to create a more relaxed and enjoyable ambiance. We look forward to welcoming you back soon La Buvette du Dep team

PROS: 1. The inside is nicely decorated, 2 levels: rdc, just get in and seat, it’s more crowded and noisy; upstairs, with reservation per day or per hour (7-16 $), usually for quiet study or chill meetings. 2. Food/ drinks: they have sandwiches and pastry; i only had a Feel good tea, it was delicious but 6.50$? 3. CONs: one serving girl upstairs and took 30 min to get 1 up tea. Other POV: It’s 15 minutes from Metro station ( parking in the street available only if lucky)

Hi Renata, Thank you for your visit! Just to clarify, our coworking day pass is $7 for the full day or $5 for 3 hours. We’re very sorry for the delay with your drink — it sounds like you caught us during a busy moment, but that’s not the experience we aim to provide. Our Feel Good juice is made with fresh lemon and ginger juice, and the pricing reflects the quality and cost of these ingredients. We truly appreciate your understanding and hope to welcome you back for a smoother experience next time. — La Buvette du Dep Team

Atmosphere good. Service slow and disorganized. Food BAD and overpriced for the quality and the amount. We ordered avocado toast and Spanish omelet. The avocado toast had no flavour and it was cold from the fridge. The Spanish omelet was a disgrace to the real omelet. It was a bad mix of dry eggs and potatoes with no salt or flavour.

Hi Isabel We’re really sorry to hear about your experience. Just to clarify, our avocado toast is served on toasted bread, but the avocado and cottage cheese are intentionally kept fresh and cold, as they can’t be served warm without compromising their texture and quality. Regarding the “Spanish omelette,” it’s not meant to be a traditional Spanish tortilla, but rather our own version made with potato confit, baked eggs, and onion. We understand the confusion and will consider adjusting the name to better reflect the dish. That said, we wish we had known during your visit — our team would have been more than happy to replace your dishes or offer an alternative. We hope to see you another time for a better experience. This place wins in atmosphere but was weak on food. We had the tortilla español, my wife is from Spain, an this should be removed from the menu. It has nothing to do with a tortilla española and was bland and dry. I had the avocado toast which was also bland. The coffees arrived way before the food and we had to order more coffees when our food came. I would go back for coffees but that is about it. Unfortunate as it has so much potential.

This may be the cutest, quirkiest coffee shop I've been to in all my travels! We sat at the counter, but there are plenty of comfy chairs, couches, + tables to lounge around in while you enjoy your coffee. Plus a myriad of antiques + curiosities to look at! Iced latte was excellent + maybe the best macaroons I've ever had! Also check out the IMAGINARIUM downstairs... super fun!

A little glimpse of La Buvette du Dep it has positive vibes and offers an inviting ambiance that feels like a home away from home. This Gem is a must try of the list. It has delicious coffee, and excellent food options the atmosphere is rustic wooden decor, vintage touches, and an abundance of greenery, contributing to a warm and inviting vibe. The vintage scooter to the floral walls and delicious treats, every corner is filled with charm. 🖤🛵🥐☕️💐 #cafevibes @labuvettedudep #vitagecafe #plantdecor #scooterlove #uniquedesign #montreal

Coffee isn't dialed here. 5th time coming here since opening, ordering a cortado. Coffee tastes stale, watery and bitter. Dial your coffee if you want to charge people $5+ for a coffee drink...

My experience here wasn’t good. The staff made it feel like ordering a coffee was an inconvenience, which immediately set the tone. After paying too much for a coffee that was honestly very underwhelming, I was told I had to pay extra just to use my laptop - which felt unreasonable. Between the service and the quality of the coffee, it wasn’t a place I’d return to.

Hi Stacy, At our Griffintown location, the downstairs café is designed primarily as a social space — a place for conversation, connection, and enjoying food and drinks. For guests looking to work or study, we offer a dedicated coworking space upstairs within the same building. We have daily passes: $5 for three hours or $7 for the full day, and both options include 20% off beverages during your stay and wifi connection. This allows us to maintain a café/ buvette atmosphere downstairs while also offering a comfortable, work-friendly environment upstairs. As for your drink, we would have been happy to replace with other or redo. We appreciate your visit and hope to see you again

This is a ridiculous place that forces you to pay to stay in their shop to study or work. Even though I already pay for a drink. Not advised unless you want to waste your money for nothing. Avoid at all costs

Before thinking of going there, do yourself a favour and go read the 1/5 stars reviews. You’re welcome. Rude and unprofessional baristas. They force you to pay to work on your laptop after paying 10$ on pastries and coffee, which weren’t even worth it. To my surprise I asked if this was a permanent thing, the barista almost rolled her eyes at me and I responded yes in a dry fashion. Later when I asked for a glass of water, the same barista didn’t even bother answering, instead, she unashamedly just pointed the water fountain to me while making a rude face. There’s a reason half of the reviews have rated this place 1/5 - You can have the nicest coffee shop but if your customer service is bad, it’s worth nothing. Clearly the management needs to train their employees to understand good manners and professionalism. First and last time - There are way better coffee shops out there, because everyone deserves to be treated better than this.

Hello Fadi, We’re sorry to hear that your visit didn’t meet your expectations. Our team works hard to create a welcoming atmosphere, and we take feedback about service very seriously. Regarding the laptop policy, we do have a coworking pass in place at the Loft and the pass also includes 20% off drinks for those working from the café, That said, the experience you describe is not the standard we aim for. We’ll review this situation with our team to make sure communication is always courteous and clear. We truly hope to see you in the future

Came on a busy day thinking it would’ve been a quick takeout. Had to wait about 1 hour for my chicken sandwich. I don’t know if they lost my ticket but it looks like the kitchen was really busy and in the process. I think I was just an exception but it did upset me. The staff was over all nice. They definitely were understaffed or the way they work with takeouts needs to be revised.

I never give reviews but for this time I have to do it! I ordered a filter coffee and the taste was burnt , not fresh and also a scone which it was obviously old , I requested to have it warmed up and even though it tasted as chewing gum , this is the first time happened even though I come often. Very disappointed to pay for old stuff!
