Great food, fair portion for price. Good selection of beer by can. Two tasty desserts to choose from (both good). Friendly and prompt service. The seating is on shorter metal stools, which is fine for me, if you have balance challenges maybe it would be a trouble.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the food!! It's flavourful, well-balanced and is not overwhelming. Since I do not eat spice so I was a bit apprehensive when all of their dishes are marked spicy. The wait staff who forwarded outstanding service to us assured me that the food's spicy level is well-tolerated and she was absolutely correct. The flavour of the food is extremely delicious with just the right amount of spiciness. I have been to Satu Lagi, another Indonesian/Malaysian Southeastern Asian restaurant area and we love the food there too but I find the food at Krapaw to be more down to earth, authentic and wholesome without everything coconut. I love coconut and its flavour, don't get me wrong but when you have every dish being coconut based, it gets old a bit after a while. And I am thrilled to find Krapaw's chefs being able to create dishes with variety of ingredients. And we are very grateful for the patience of the wait staff who was able to explain the dish to us as well as customizing the vegetarian dish the Lodey to include meat for my children. The soup is absolutely delicious with its addition of fried tofu, an ingredient that I never knew can exist in tumeric and cumin soup. Another thing to check out at this restaurant is the earrings on sale that are handcrafted by the owner's daughter as the wait staff mentioned to me. They are beautifully designed, very elegant with innovative forms and shapes that are aesthetically refreshing. The only thing that I took one star off is its setting. I wish they have chairs with backs or more hooks for customers to hang their winter jackets and to change its tiles to be non-slip in the seating area. Chairs without backs and with only limited amount of hooks around are a bit difficult during winter when the customers have no place to hang their jacket and have to resort to placing them on the stools which can result in the jackets getting dirty when they fall especially when they are long and/or get splashed on with food especially when they eat Lodey (like what happened with my child). The tiles in the seating area can get very slippery when the customers step on them with snow from outside and that could potentially be a safety hazard with especially senior citizens and the mobility challenged.

I went there last night. The food was great and the service rather prompt. Luckily, it wasn't busy. I am giving it a 3-star rating because when paying by card, I noticed that the tip calculation is off. For a $34 meal and a 15% tip, the amount shown was $44 dollars, which is clearly not 15%. I tried customizing the amount and the tip ended up being double than what I wanted to leave. My recommendation is: pay only the amount on your bill by card and the tip in cash.

Hi TJ, The tipping is confusing because of how the payment systems work. This is a UI issue for ALL restaurants and ALL payment systems in Québec. So the first amount shown, the $34, is the SUBTOTAL. You tip on the subtotal, which at 15% is about $5. Then the final amount you see is the total WITH TAX AND TIP. The tax is around 15%, which is about $5; so that combined with your $5 tip makes the final $44. I hope that helps clarify.

I loved the food and the service was great but the place is small and there are very few tables to dine in.

I ordered the chicken samba belacan and it was amazing. I also tasted the beef Rendang and Krapow and found them both delicious. The chicken being my favourite. The prices are good and the service was excellent. Friendly staff and overall a very good experience. A little cold being close to the door, but worth the experience.
