Knuckles is an inventive neighborhood gem in Montreal's dining scene that masterfully sits at the intersection of a fine-dining kitchen and a nostalgic greasy spoon. They excel at turning comfort food classics completely on their heads, offering a menu that is equal parts playful, indulgent, and seriously well-executed. The clear standout of the meal is the Tartare Big Wac, a dish that proves to be an absolute triumph. It arrives styled exactly like a classic fast-food double cheeseburger, complete with a toasted sesame seed bun, a mountain of shredded iceberg lettuce, melted cheese, thick pickle slices, and a signature sauce that captures that unmistakable, nostalgic fast-food tang. Instead of a beef patty, it is packed with a generous, impeccably seasoned beef tartare that is rich, tender, and beautifully studded with whole-grain mustard. The crunchiness and structure of the bun offer a fantastic textural contrast to the soft, velvety tartare, while the acidity and brightness of the sauce perfectly cut through the richness. It delivers exactly the flavor profile you hope for, wrapped in a genuinely impressive presentation. It is easily the winner of the night. Equally essential to the experience are the Signature Panzerotti, a staple born from a beloved recipe passed down from the co-owner’s Nonna. These deep-fried, savory turnovers eat like a premium, elevated "pizza pocket" with the flavors cranked up to eleven. Fried to a deep, golden-brown perfection, they boast an incredible, bubbly, and shattering crust. Knuckles serves up a rotation of creative fillings like Spicy Roni (pepperoni, jalapeños, and pecorino) or Cheesesteak (ground beef, onions, marinated hot peppers, and ricotta). Skewered with a pickle or hot pepper to balance the fried indulgence and served alongside a wonderfully creamy dipping sauce, they are incredibly satisfying, delightfully messy, and a mandatory order for the table. For a softer contrast, the Fresh Herb Gnocchi showcases the kitchen's dedication to scratch-made pasta. These pillowy, vibrant green herb gnocchi swim in a rich, buttery, and translucent emulsified sauce, heavily dusted with a snowcap of finely grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of toasted, aromatic spices or breadcrumbs for texture. The gnocchi themselves are beautifully cloud-like. While the sauce is exceptionally savory and well-executed, it leans into a more delicate, comforting profile compared to the bold, punchy flavors of the tartare. Ultimately, Knuckles masterfully blends a cozy, lively neighborhood vibe with a menu that doesn't take itself too seriously but delivers serious technique. Sharing a meal here passing around a basket of fried panzerotti, cutting into a "Big Wac" tartare, and passing around bowls of fresh pasta makes for an incredibly fun, indulgent, and memorable dining experience in the city.

However, the place can be noisy, and a few comments mention inconsistent dishes or sometimes slow service. If you enjoy inventive menus and a lively atmosphere, it is definitely worth a visit.

You feel the liveliness the moment you step into this restaurant! The deco is classy/funky/cozy at the same time. We had the beef tartare “Big Mac” which was really interesting, I really like the crunchiness of the bun and the sauce has a good balance of acidity. The fried bread is their famous dish but wouldn’t say it was my favourite thing of the night. Gnocchi was soft and sauce is nice but I’d say the tartare was the winner of the night! Special shoutout to the service! As we saw there were like 2-3 servers only at that night, but they were all really nice and were as attentive as they could. The girl that served us was very enthusiastic, great energy! Thank you :)
Ambiance is nice but the food was super salty and the sauce was so acidic! Need tweaking in the recipes to be honest but love the vibe of the space … not the best pasta, very basic.
The absolute most delicious gnocchi I’ve ever had! And the desert was so amazing. I’m not usually a huge fan of mousse but the combination of jam and popcorn make the dish so interesting and irresistible. Such a cute restaurant and neighborhood to visit on top of that.
Wow! What a delicious meal. The eclair really surprised us. The big Mac tartare tasted exactly how it sounds but the presentation was impressive! The panzerottis were delicious we tried the spicy Roni and the cheesesteak, the spicy Roni was our favorite. For our main we had the cornbonara, very good! For dessert we had the sundae creamsicle also delicious.
Cornbonara blew our mind.
Such a lovely restaurant, cant wait to go back
Very delicious food. Nonna's gnocchi is absolutely amazing with that sauce. Fish of the day is nice, good sauce
Super cute and vibey place! The food and service were amazing!
Just like how Nonna makes it
Great service, great food, great wine. Decent prices. Very much worth the experience.
Everything from food, service to decor was phenomenal, we had such a great time here and each dish was so surprisingly delicious, especially the savory éclair! Can't wait to go back and try the other dishes on the menu :).
Tasty appetizers and main meal . Waiter recommended a great bottle of wine ! Friendly service . Will be back .
10/10. Amazing service, amazing food. Just a great experience overall. Would recommend to anyone, but it was especially nice for Valentine's day.
Great place for a good meal. They do what they do very well !
Lovely experience at Knuckles. Great Italian decor and great service. The smoke meat panzerotti is a must try! Overall one of the best restaurants I've been to
Was very excited to try Knuckle. Made a reservation for 7:00pm and requested to be seated at the bar. Got to the restaurant at 7:10pm (because of snow) and the waiter brought us to a regular table. When we mentioned that we had requested bar seating (there was plenty of space at the bar) he told us he needed to check if it was possible with the bar waiter. Bar waiter showed up a few minutes later and stated that because we arrived “late” he had given our table to another couple. All restaurants have a 15 min grace period so… really didn’t appreciate the waiter trying to put the blame on us being “late”. Said that nothing could be done. Walked out of the restaurant and will probably not go back. Very disappointing and disappointed.
Came here a few days ago with my girlfriend, and we ordered the Hawaiian knuckle that was essentially a panzerotti. It was really good and we were able to split it between the two of us. We also got a nice selection of bottled wine, which was really nice, it was the first time I’ve ever got an entire bottle of wine at a restaurant before so it was a treat. We ended up getting the salad that had everything bagel seeds on top with some awesome mixture salad dressing that was just a complete home run We also got the steak fries with a side of french fries that tasted amazing The atmosphere was really cool. The staff was extremely friendly and absolutely helpful when we had questions. The restaurant was clean and with the winter snowy night it just made everything even better. It was like the scene out of a movie, I really enjoyed myself here and will definitely come back again. Definitely recommended that you bring your friends and family out. Also, the prices are very formidable no complaints and they are good portions for the price you pay.
Another excellent meal at Knuckles. Top notch service and interesting wine suggestions. Arctic char éclair a standout.
the unique dishes are quite insanely good (spinach gnocchi with no potatoes)…. buffalo oyster mushrooms? steak frites were great, but nothing too special great wine, ambience is tight and cozy - service is also very pleasant overall - good one to add to ur to try list
Knuckles restaurant used to be small and cozy. It used to be unpretentious and loving…It’s not the same anymore…I hate when that happens!
The food was okay/good, and although the service was a bit slow for us (there was a malfunction with the system), it was still professional and friendly. The menu items were very original, which was probably the best part of the experience. Overall, I had a good time, but I probably wouldn’t go back.
Very charming place with a creative menu. For appetisers we had the eclair with arctic char (my personal fav), beef tartare (big mac flavour), panzerotti (smoke meat). The eclair was light and paired nicely with the goat cheese and fish. The beef tartare was unique and something I never had before, but I’d still rather go for a classic tartare. And the panzerotti was overall quite underwhelming because of the lack of filling, and the sides were folded too thick and so some parts of the dough were a bit raw. We also had the spinach gnocchi which was nice and light & the cornbonara which was fun but personally not to my palette. Overall, dishes were executed as described and service was good.
Delicious cocktails and menu with excellent service- would definitely go back
