I went there three weeks ago and really enjoyed the cocktails and the atmosphere, so I decided to come back today to try the food. I made a reservation for two people at 2:00 PM and arrived around 1:45 PM. As soon as I arrived, the hostess told me the restaurant was closed because of a large private reservation. I explained that I already had a reservation and asked why the app was still allowing customers to book tables if the restaurant was supposedly closed. She spoke with someone else and then came back saying we could go inside. After that, we were given the brunch menu, which honestly made no sense to me at 2:00 PM. The waitress explained that brunch is served until 3:00 PM and that we could not order from the regular menu. I asked why this information was not clearly mentioned on the website, because otherwise I would not have driven 25 minutes to get there. The whole situation felt very unprofessional and disrespectful toward customers. It honestly seemed like they were trying to push us out of the restaurant. In the end, we decided to leave. I really think restaurants should communicate this type of information properly on their website or social media to avoid wasting customers’ time.

Reading that makes this situation even more disappointing for us, because we clearly failed to welcome you with the level of care and attention you should have received from the moment you arrived. You are absolutely right. Your reservation should have been checked immediately before being told the restaurant was closed. Regardless of the context of the day, that first interaction created confusion and frustration instead of making you feel expected and welcomed, and that is entirely on us. We also understand why the transition between brunch and dinner service felt unclear from your perspective. Since launching brunch two weeks ago, we’ve realized there are still areas where our communication needs to be much more precise and intuitive for guests planning their visit. What disappoints me most is that you had already connected with Kawsay once and chose to return, only to leave feeling pushed away instead of taken care of. It’s the BEST food we ate in Montreal!! I didn’t finish my dish yet!!! But it’s sooo delicious that I stopped just to give it a great review!!! Environment and staff are equally great!!! 1000 kuddos to the chef and staff!!! Strongly recommended

This place is amazing , the food takes you to a trip to Ecuador. The taste of every item in the photo is perfectly balanced. I recommend this place. And congratulations to David for the new place. I wish you all success .

Absolutely delicious! Would recommend for people who have never had Ecuadorian food, you get a taste of the different regions. Everything is sooo thoughtful and delicious! Also amazing cocktails!

I was just looking for a quick spot for lunch, and I ended up being really glad that I ran into this place. Everyone was super friendly, great service, and the food was great! The meat was well cooked and coming off the bone. The music is great. I haven't been to an Ecuadorian place in a long while, and I'm happy that Montreal now has this amazing restaurant. I have nothing but praise to say and hope more people give it a try!

Kawsay is amazing! The food was delicious and the presentation was really high-end. The caldo de bolas and the blue cheese mouchin were definitely the highlights, and the plantain and honey dessert was the perfect way to finish. Camila was an incredible host,super attentive and gave us great recommendations. Plus, the music and vibe there are just great. 10/10 recommended!

What a gem this restaurant is! Beautiful decor, nice staff and scrumptious food. It’s the ideal introduction spot to Ecuadorian cuisine. Lots of traditional dishes and flavours. There is also a vast selection of beautifully crafted cocktails. We will definetly be back to try more and enjoy the Chicharron again because it’s incredible.

The food is amazing! I did not expect Ecuadorian food to be like this. It exceeded my expectations. The service was also great. They were very welcoming and helpful. I will definitely be coming back.
