Authentic food. Awesome service and friendly staffs. The taste of food reminds me of Japan.
What guests say about Katsuya Montréal
Katsuya Montréal seems to be appreciated for its crispy katsu, generous portions, and generally very tasty food. Several customers also highlight fast and friendly service, as well as good value for money despite a few comments about prices being a bit high. On the other hand, some reviews mention uneven service, sometimes slow or rude, and a few occasional quality or order issues. It’s a good choice if you’re looking for a hearty katsu restaurant, but the service experience can vary.

Very good food, totally recommend it! 👌🙂
5 mussels and one prawn in my Nagasaki udon +pork katsu, tasty and reasonable price
I was craving katsu, and this restaurant exceeded my expectations! The miso soup was so delicious that I even asked for a refill. I ordered the red carbonara pork katsu, and I absolutely loved it.
My only regret is not having discovered this place before! I have always ordered online for delivery and I was afraid that the portions wouldn’t be as big. But no! Everything was perfectly packed
By far our best dining experience so far during our trip to both Toronto and Montreal. Absolutely delicious food, generous portions, friendly and hard working staff.
My husband and I love this place so much, I love their combos and ofcourse i gotta get the red carbonara sauce on the side even if they have gotten so expensive 😩♥️
We were a group of 5 and asked to split the bill. Unfortunately the server had a lot of difficulty processing the split payments, which already made the experience quite frustrating. Throughout the meal, the service was honestly very minimal. We mostly took care of ourselves the entire time. After we completed the payment, we chose not to leave a tip because we genuinely were not satisfied with the service experience. The server then told us the original transaction had been refunded and asked us to pay again with a mandatory 15% gratuity added. Honestly, what the hell? We already completed the payment, and then the server suddenly told us the transaction had been refunded because we didn’t leave a tip and we had to pay again with 15% added.
The freshness and crispiness of the donkatsu I had on-site were truly excellent. The sauce for dipping the donkatsu is absolutely delicious. I definitely want to come back. The staff serving the food was also very friendly.
I went on two occasions: first time I had a Japanese katsu, second time I had the sweet chili katsu. I loved the cutlets for its crunch and flavor. However, for both times, the coleslaw was hard and tasted bland. St-Hubert coleslaw is way better. I would recommend getting dishes that don't have coleslaw. On the bright side, I loved the honey fries, crunchy and lightly powdered with the right amount of sugar~
Exceptionally delicious, mirroring the authentic taste experience I encountered in Japan.
If you are looking for authentic Japanese tonkatsu in Montreal, Katsuya is one of the few places that actually gets the crust right. It is crispy and fluffy rather than being dense and hard, and most importantly, it isn't greasy at all. My only minor complaint is that the breading tends to fall off the meat quite easily. The pork itself is okay—not dry, but not particularly juicy either. The service is very friendly, which makes up for the atmosphere. The interior is a bit dark and feels a little run-down, so it’s not exactly "cozy," but for the decent price point, it's worth it. I will definitely be coming back!
Portions are super generous! Pork loin was surprisingly juicy. Even after reheating (takeout), it was not too dry. Pretty good if you’re craving for katsu. Not the best, but not bad. Would recommend!
Best chicken Katsu I’ve ever had
So delicious. Got the regular udon and it was filling. No pork in this one. They give out small soups as appetizers too, similar to a miso soup.
Food was delicious and filling, super comforting and warm. Love the pork tonkatsu with curry and rice. Very generous with the portion. Highly recommend, will return
The food was very tasty and fresh. We both ordered the Katsu curry and one drink each. It was a little pricey for 2 people but heyy we had left overs for lunch. So no complaints 😜 I might go again to try the red carbonara Katsu dish. The service was quick and the experience was pleasant.
Just go, don’t think twice, stop scrolling, go now! We ordered: - Katsu Udon - Chicken Curry Katsu comes with Rice Tip -> Make sure come in hungry, portion is huge
Raw pork katsu, portion not very large for the money spent.
i ordered the curry loin kastu for take out and received a tiny cup of curry that was barely filled up halfway and also tasted off:/ very pricey for 2 gulps of curry 🤨
Best katsu in mtl!
Very very good 😊 so tasty 🤌
Katsuya has been on my "Want to go" list for years and on end of February, me and my friends decided to go give it a try it. I really loved their Japanese Katsuya chicken and karaage! Super crunchy and sweet-salty sauce balances the flavours. We ate during lunch period so it was nice and peaceful that we're able to have conversations, and service was quick. Prices is roughly $16-$22 depending on what you get. I recommend coming here with friends or a quick lunch/dinner, as it's fulfilling!
The udon was delicious, however the katsu is quite average. The service was lackluster and slow.
Best katsu I've had in Montreal. Light, tasty, generous portions. 5/5 ⭐ Service was great too. Fast, efficient, and to the point. I appreciate a place that doesn’t make staff do the awkward small talk thing!
