Everything with fish is good and fresh. Did not try the beef and chicken was okay. Soup was not warm enough.

The servers are downright rude towards the people like we are a nuisance to them, the presentation of the food is bad and the wait times is 25 minutes between sushi’s for an all you can eat sushi which defeats the purpose of an all you can eat sushi.
For all you can eat sushi, it's one to try. Book ahead as it gets very busy.

Ill start by saying that the food is delicious. The real problem here is management. Even if you come at a non busy time, you'll wait a lot. They ignore you and just make you wait at the entrance for the longest time. Their phone is always ringing and they are never picking up. Its sad because how i said, the food is superb..
They just don't answer the phone anymore for reservations. For a business like this you would think they'd have online reservations. POOR.
The food at K2 Sushi was actually pretty good, which is the only reason this review gets two stars instead of one. However, the service was some of the worst I have experienced in Montreal. There is a male host/front-of-house staff member who is extremely rude and does not know how to speak to customers. He was impolite from the start, and the situation got worse as the night went on. We were a group of four. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes, only to find out that the restaurant had cancelled and thrown out our order. Meanwhile, we watched people who arrived after us getting their food. When we asked why we had no sushi, we were simply told, "Sorry, we lost your order, please order again." When our food finally arrived, the same rude host brought it to our table. He literally threw the plates down and walked away without saying a word. To top it off, they automatically added a tip to the bill, which felt aggressive considering how poorly we were treated. They did not deserve that tip. I do want to shout out Rebecca, our waitress, who seemed nice but needs retraining, but the male host completely ruined the experience. He is the reason I will never recommend this restaurant. You need to do better.
I entered the sms queue at 5:55 yesterday with apparently only two groups before me. But the table was only ready at 7:40. We left before hand but the management was so chaotic. Even if people entered the queue after, they were trying to skip others. The host was yelling and screaming at the staff. Overall just a poor experience. We left the place at 6:30pm and went to Biru Biru where service was faster and people were just nicer.
The reason for this 1 star review is because of Paul, the host at the door who was awful. When I asked if we could have a table for two he responded “not really” in a very rude way and gruffly said scan the QR code to get on the waitlist then walked away. We were visiting from New York City so I thought at first the rudeness was because we were tourists speaking English. But when two white women came in after me and asked him the same question in English his whole attitude changed. He was very sweet with them and shared that there weren’t any tables available yet, told them exactly what to do, and let them know the wait would be 5-15 minutes. That’s when I realized he was probably just racist. This was confirmed when he said the wrong name when telling us a table was ready, my partner and I both said my name the correct way in response just to confirm that it was us he was saying the table was ready for and he gave us the dirtiest look then said go upstairs. His racism was really unfortunate because the servers upstairs were really lovely, there was some cute Studio Ghibli decor, and there were a few sushi rolls that were pretty good. None of that made up for the experience with Paul though and it put a downer on the whole dinner. Until they have hosts who treat everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of their ethnicity, I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I’ve always been a fan of their other unit (Manga Bistro) and K2 does not disappoint. The decor is AMAZING, you feel immersed in the Studio Ghibli universe. The staff is friendly and helpful, quick service and food is just as delicious. I’ll come back for sure!

The rolls were lovely, the variety was great and the decor was even better. We barely waited on our food (I waited a bit long for my soup, but otherwise, incredibly fast and diligent service). If you can, reserve on the second floor (that’s where most of the cool memorabilia and decor is). Even if you are given a first floor table, you get transported into the Studio Ghibli universe. A must try for a date night or a hangout with friends.

K2 Bistro offers an all-you-can-eat dinner like no other. I say all-you-can-eat dinner, not buffet, because the food items are individually ordered and plated, sometimes even individually finalized. And the food is of restaurant quality. We really came for their fish. I mean, raw and cooked fish. The restaurant's theme is Japanese anime. Naturally, most dishes - if not all, are inspired by Japanese seafood tradition and lean heavily on sushi and sashimi. (Despite the Japanese facade, the restaurant is owned and operated by people of Chinese heritage like many suishi restaurants are.) Raw fish dishes here are a good showcase of their care in ingredients and in preparation. They also distinguish themselves from sushi buffets in the varieties of dishes offered. Ville-Marie where K2 Bistro is located in is a busy commercial district. But the restaurant has a small storefront and comparatively less flashy exterior. Combined with their pricepoint, most diners must be seeking them out. Shortly after we entered around 5pm in a December evening, the dining hall on the second floor was filled with what could only be described as repeat visitors. Once inside, you are immersed in Studio-Ghibili-themed decors from wall to wall. Whether ceiling-to-floor panels or 3D installations, they are crafted with care. Once seated, you use a touchscreen on the side of your table to order. Compared with full service restaurants, food comes relatively fast. Food is prepared somewhere on the first floor and fetched through the same staircase you walk up from. I was facing the staircase, and was amazed by the lack of real danger of servers clashing with guests the entire time! Some food items require a finishing touch, such as a torch-over. This is performed on a narrow counter on the second floor. When there is no food, that counter looks like a normal space divider. When something needs a finishing comes up, someone magically appears, torch (or other equipment/ingredient) in hand. Nothing theatrical. But if you think of the logistics, K2 Bistro is nothing short of magic. All in all, K2 Bistro offers an enjoyable dining experience - and a satisfactory meal. It has certainly attracted a dedicated following among Montreal's digital economy participants. But if you are from out of town, and/or not from the digital-native generation, seek them out. You won't be disappointed!

Amazing food, probably the best sushi buffet I’ve been to. Would be better if there was a little more staff for the size of the place, but besides that - great experience!
