What a delightful coffee shop and bookstore! I only strolled in to check out the books, would love to come back to have a coffee and read!

The staff are really nice, and they give helpful book recommendations. Also, definitely try the Guilty Pleasures cocktail--it has an amazing chamomile flavor in it that I have never had in a cocktail before. 😍

Great cafe/bookstore. We really enjoyed the variety of books. We were able to explore and enjoy drinks from the café.

Really lovely little shop with a low key cafe inside. I liked that they had markers in the bathroom to write on the walls!

Beautiful library focused on four genres mainly (romance, sci fi, horror and fantasy). There's a café to stop by and have a great time.

The place is cozy and strongly reminds me of Shakespeare & Company in Paris. Unfortunately, the selection is poor and the shelves are badly organized. English and French books are mixed together, often without any way of knowing which is which. There also seems to be an overwhelming focus on romantasy/romance. It is such a shame, because I liked the place.

We love Shakespeare & Company in Paris! And we are sorry you couldn't find what you were looking for, but you can order any book from us if you want to support an indie bookshop. Our shelves are purposefully organized with French and English side by side, supporting bilingualism and community connection - hopefully next time you come in, one of our amazing staff can help you out so it isn't so overwhelming for you. And yes, we are a genre bookstore, with an unapologetic penchant for romance!

Beautiful bookstore with many beautiful books. A must see in Montreal, especially for the book lovers out there. The bar/cafe on site is a very big plus!

Great bilingual bookstore. The essais and nonfiction section is small, but the variety of fantasy books (their specialty) is vast with all kinds of book covers and editions for most titles. The bar has a cool book inspired menu, nice choice of coffees, teas or cocktails. I’d love to visit again just to work or read while sipping a nice drink ☕️📖🍹😌

A very warm and cozy place with a beautiful decoration. The concept of sitting among books while enjoying a coffee makes the atmosphere feel calm and relaxing. It’s a great spot if you like quiet environments and literary vibes. I didn’t get the chance to try the coffee during my visit, so I can’t comment on the drinks, but the atmosphere and the decoration alone make this place feel special and welcoming.

Such an amazing place! The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful — cozy, inspiring, and perfect for slowing down. The coffee and pie were delicious, and the interior design is truly unique and thoughtfully done. A perfect spot to relax with a book and enjoy a peaceful moment. Highly recommend!

Super friendly staff! Love the concept of a small coffee shop that is also a library! Coffee and snacks were really nice, the only reason why it's not 5 stars is because they're so busyyyy my friend and I could barely sit when we arrived. Overall, I recommend strongly and will definitely go back to Joie de Livres!

Took a trip to Montreal and found this lovely little book store. So much beautiful detail in their decor. Had a yummy creamy latte and my daughter had a refreshing peach iced tea. Staff were lovely and tolerated my broken French.
