A little hole in the wall restaurant easily missed from the street because it's on a second floor. It wasn't very busy on a Saturday evening (at points I was the only diner). I had the beef jjam bbong noodle soup, which I requested extra spicy. The noodles were perfectly smooth and chewy, and the meat was plentiful. This is probably one of the best jjam bbongs I've ever had. My critiques are that I think a leaner cut of meat could be better as there were a few pieces that were super fatty, and I also think some kimchi or pickle on the side for dine in customers would be very appreciated to cut through the richness. Overall this was very delicious and I would totally come back to try their seafood jjam bbong or jajangmyeon next time I'm in Montreal.
What guests say about :JOA CUISINE COREENNE
JOA Korean Cuisine receives a lot of praise for its flavorful Korean dishes, especially the fried chicken, jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and dumplings, along with generous portions. The service is often described as warm, quick, and friendly, and several mention good value for money. A few more mixed reviews mention simple decor, an unpretentious atmosphere, and small variations in service or seasoning, but overall it remains very highly rated.

My froends and me are students nearby, and the food there is really good! Ate there many times, and the service is very good!
This place served some of the smallest portions I've ever seen. I added beef to my dish for extra money and there was three tiny pieces of the thinnest beef you can cut, barely noticeable. The flavor was fine, but you can easily find other places with the same flavor.
Orders fired chicken ball and the noodles salade with rice. Very basic and Ordinary taste.. nothing excites me with the price 16 sth with TAX. Small very hot inside and Mosquito 🦟 annoyed me the most .. I haven’t enjoyed the meal entertaining him 🥲🥲🥲
Superb meal. Extremely fast service and a cute atmosphere. We are from out of town and this was one of the best meals of our trip.
Normally this is my go to for korean food, in previous years i have been a loyal customer and reccomend this place for something good on st denis, but the last time i went, i saw AI advertizing being used. Beyond the stance of being anti AI, this indicates to me as a customer that shortcuts are being made, and normally when a restaurant visibly shows shortcuts (examples such as: unmopped floors, dirty menus, ai advertizing/menus are little things that i note when deciding to eat somewhere as someone with 10 years of FOH experiance), it means shortcuts also might be made in the back of house. The food this time as well was okay, there was a less sauce on the spicy chicken cup bap i normally get and that also reflects to me that costs are being cut in places. i am unable to trust the restaurant any longer and will no longer be refering it to tourists or friends, hopefully i can revisit in the future and be brought back on the JOA bandwagon, but as of right now im going to hunt for a new korean restaurant to haunt occassionally.
I’m an Englishman who lives in Australia who took over from Vancouver for a four days and happened to find this place which is a hidden gem. Go up the steep steps and open the heavy door and go inside and you’ll find a very clean and warm and welcoming restaurant. I had the deep fried chicken and beef and vegetable noodles and I’m sitting here now and I couldn’t be any happier. The food is fresh and tasty and I love it.
Delicious food. Excellent service. Came back again.
Takeout-focused Korean kitchen with solid Korean-Chinese dishes. Not bad at all. For a place that looked like it was falling apart from the outside, the food was authentic and nicely seasoned. Classic mom-and-pop spot that doesn't bother catering to local palates and just goes straight for the real thing. My friend and I got the black bean noodles (jjajang), the spicy beef noodles (jjam bbong), and a fried chicken cupbap, and everything was satisfying. No weird sweetness, no MSG bomb, just straight wok-fired cooking with natural umami doing the work. My favorite was the beef jjam bbong. It ran a little spicy even for me, but it was one of the best versions I've had in a while. A lot of the brisket versions I've had in the US come loaded with beef fat in the broth, but this one was mostly clean spice and vegetables. For a spot we picked at random, this was a nice hit. Would come back next time we're in the area.
The best jjamppong I've had since I was in Seoul! Highly recommend, but don't take my word for it, take a look at my bowl!
highly recommend this place
Small but very clean restaurant, the staff are so kind! Amazing food
Very friendly, great food, and reasonably priced - what more could a chap ask? Definitely recommended! :)
Wonderful jajangmyeon and good portion size. Very sweet staff and cozy atmosphere. They brought me tea while I waited for my food and that was really nice!
Tout leurs plats sont super bons et tasty. Un must try in mtl. And if you eat on place they give you a cup of tea super tasty.
Great food, service and atmosphere
Simple setup for a quick meal. I appreciated the hot spicy soup noodles for dinner in winter. Recommended if you're in the neighbourhood.
I've been searching to try jajangmyeon for the longest time and I was not disappointed, it was so good and flavorful. I also loved the tteokbokki:)
Delicious food and friendly service. We ordered appetizers and a main dish and went back to try more things as it was all so good.
so delicious! i always leave happy
My guilty pleasure, a reward after exams.
Excellent food, i have nothing to say about that! The lady was weirdly passive aggressive though:( i will stick to my usual spot.
Very welcoming place, the staff is very friendly, the lady that served me had such a sweet smile !The food is very delicious, it comes in generous portions and is very comforting ! 10/10 !!
Deceptive photos on DoorDash. If it’s a vegetable dish, don’t show pictures with lots of meat. I used to get these with meat automatically included in the dishes, now it’s an extra?! I know it’s written “legumes” but sometimes you are just rushed. When you show a photo, it is what I’m expecting.
