Reviews / Ratings for Jatoba
Delightful culinary experience with excellent and attentive service, many tasty options for non-sushi lovers too. Finish with a crafty sorbet. One of the most beautiful and cozy restaurants in Montreal. Jatoba is truly a vibe…lush with live plants (all real) and dramatic, oversized vines that make the space feel both intimate and elevated. The service was outstanding, with an impressive level of attention to detail throughout the entire evening. You can tell they take real pride in the experience they create. The food was excellent overall. The black cod was good, though I personally found it a touch on the fishy side, and the miso soup was a bit too salty and missing that deep umami richness I was expecting. That said, the boneless chicken wings completely stole the show—unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before. Absolutely fantastic and worth the visit on their own. Overall, a stunning restaurant with exceptional service and memorable dishes. I’d definitely return.

Loved the atmosphere. The server was knowledgeable and everything he recommended from food to wine was 100%. Strongly recommend.
Best Asian food restaurant in great Montreal...
You can never go wrong with having an incredibly delicious meal at Jatoba. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave every need is catered, and every bite of food is a delicious experience in the mouth and soul. Love this place.!
Mary Suzanne was our server and she was great. I brought a diverse group from around the world and they were duly impressed.
Always an amazing experience !
The spicy edamame are no joke, my wife binged them all as they were so tasty! The side effects kicked in almost immediately and ended up exploding in the bathroom. Not cool, but ending up leaving all the sushi for me, excellent food! Overall 8/10 experience! Would definitely go back, just beware of spicy food.
Lovely ambiance and fantastic food and service! Great wine list and guidance as well!
We thoroughly enjoyed our work/birthday lunch at Jatoba. The food was incredible and staff welcoming and knowledgable. I would recommend Jatoba in a hearbeat and will most certainly return. The $55 lunch menu was perfect (and we added some dessert as well :-) )
Always an amazing experience!
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Montreal. Fantastic cocktails and incredible food!
Superb food and excellent service (Pierre-Alain and team)
Bento Box is always good!
First time at Jatoba and will definitely go back when I visit Montreal again. The Google reviews did not steer me wrong! The food was delicious, atmosphere was upscale yet friendly, and it was busy but not too loud. I would definitely recommend- the chicken dish was outstanding!
This restaurant is pure class. Service and food were fantastic. Special thanks to the host, who immediately picked up on the reservation being a surprise for my wife, and played along. His effort preserved the impact of the surprise when additional guests showed up to what my wife thought was just a normal date. Our waiter was exceptional as well. He crafted a wonderful 3 course meal for a fair price. Every plate was was delicious and we all left feeling full and satisfied. I’ve came here once in 2017 and I will always recommend Jatoba for an elegant and unique experience.
Great food. Great service.
I was there for lunch with a group. I had the miso soup and sashimi lunch express. The sashimi isn't served the traditional Japanese way with wasabi, and yet the ginger and the sauce made it very delicious. The side salad of kohlrabi was super fresh and it had such a nice crunch. The mocktail aloha jatoba is a nice drink if you like fruity taste. The restaurant has beautiful decor and excellent service. There's a complimentary coat room at the reception. An excellent idea for winter!
Jatoba is our favorite restaurant in Montreal. The food is impeccable, the service is excellent and the space is beautiful. Every bite is perfection!
Dining here was ultimately about the food, which was undeniably excellent (The bluefish tuna sushi is out of this world, we had to order it twice). Each dish was refined, well-executed, and arrived promptly, reflecting the level you expect from a high-end establishment. The bill for 2 people, 2 drinks each and a few plates of sushi came up to $380. That said, the overall experience didn’t feel particularly memorable. The service was polite but somewhat average, lacking the attentiveness or warmth that elevates a great meal into something truly special. A small detail that stood out: I ordered a cortado and was served an espresso with milk on the side, which missed the mark for a restaurant of this caliber. Would I return? Yes…maybe—for the food alone. As a person who traveled around the world and ate at quite a few expensive seafood places, including Singapore and Spain, I would rate Jatoba 6.9/10 overall
Amazing food, ambience and vibe. The staff were extremely polite and friendly as well. Highly recommend trying to crispy rice cake sushi! It was out of this world. :)
Not what it used to be
Our favorite place in town. Service is always excellent. Quality of the food is extremely good. Nice décor and total attention to details. I was there to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary and a beautiful personal card from chef Olivier was there at my table congratulating us. You cannot find this excellent customer service somewhere else.
Always very perfect!
