Lovely views and great service
What guests say about InterContinental Montréal
Guests especially appreciate the central location, the proximity to Old Montreal, and convenient access to the metro and Underground City. The staff is often described as friendly, helpful, and efficient, with stays generally being comfortable, clean, and often spacious rooms. However, several reviews mention somewhat dated decor and some room details that could be improved, and the hotel was under renovation or about to close for renovations in several comments. A few isolated negative experiences involve a housekeeping incident, but the majority of feedback remains very positive.

I stayed there once, and I really liked the location, when I was visiting Montreal back in Dec, it was closed for renovations, I wonder has the renovations been completed, if the Reno are done, how was it?
This location is close by to Old Montreal and walking distance to a lot of places near by, especially for travellers looking to visit. My room was clean, well kept and staff were very friendly. It was a good spot for me to travel to different restaurants, cafes and tourist attractions.
Highly recommended for anyone who is interested in Montreal.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, the staff steals from you and then shovels steaming BS on you in the form of very weak excuses, and then they make YOU pay for the return of your belongings!||My toiletry bag was missing after housekeeping went through the room. First Front desk suggested housekeeping had been "confused," about a toiletry bag??! They said that they they thought I had checked out. Then why did they leave my hand cream, wet wipes and charger where I'd left them? They also left the bathrobe in the bathroom. Bizarre thing to take, my toiletries. Front desk provided me with a toothbrush and paste, but I don't feel comfortable staying where thieves lurk on staff.|They then blamed in on the "supervisor," again saying s/he thought that I had checked out. |How incompetent is your "supervisor" that s/he would take my toiletry bag but leave my hand cream (which was immediately next to the bag), along with my charger and wet wipes, and let the hotel bathrobe on the hook in the bathroom?!?! You need to stop making excuses. Your housekeeping team has a THIEF on it, FIX THAT and you won't have to make ridiculous EXCUSES, that only make you seem terribly incompetent!||PLUS THEY MAKE ME PAY FOR THE RETURN OF MY ITEMS!!!! WHAT A BLOODY NERVE!!!!!!!! Your hotel STINKS, your management is ROTTEN, and you have at least one THIEF on staff. Great Job TEAM!
The hotel is perfectly located in downtown Montreal. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful (Miriam did an outstanding job). Check-in was a breeze. The room was as advertised, and the beds were very comfortable. Room amenities were excellent (Bathrobe, slippers, etc.). Temperature control was comfortable.

Staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. My go to place to stay when in Montreal
Considering this hotel is about to close for renovations, we had excellent service and a comfortable stay. Rooms are large. Bathroom spacious and clean.
Great location for first time traveler. Hotel underground connects to metro which is convenient for commuting, especially during winter time. Staff was friendly and responsive. Lobby and restaurant are beautiful.
Wonderful food, drinks, service. Thank you to Amy, Anthony and the many wonderful staff who made my stay in Montreal extraordinary. Merci beaucoup!
This hotel is beautiful. They are shutting down to renovate and I can see where the rooms are somewhat dated. But it’s still very beautiful, the staff were extremely friendly, and it was in the perfect location for us. Looking forward to visiting again when they reopen!
This was a remarkable hotel with lots of history great staff terrific food. What a value for the cost. I will recommend this over and over and come back after the remodel.
Easy check in, friendly staff, cleaner rooms, quiet, nice view. Water was nice to have with platinum status.
I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful hotel during my vacation, and it was truly a memorable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was amazed by the breathtaking scenic views and the thoughtfully designed structure that blends elegance with comfort. A special appreciation to the artists and creators behind this masterpiece — your vision, creativity, and attention to detail are clearly reflected in every corner of the property. The architecture and artistic elements feel alive and tell a story, making the stay feel unique and inspiring rather than just another hotel visit. What stood out the most was how beautifully the hotel reflects the best of Canadian culture — warmth, respect for nature, creativity, and hospitality. The harmony between natural surroundings and modern design creates a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere that truly captures the spirit of Canada. Thank you to the entire team and artists for creating such a remarkable space. This place is not just a hotel, but an experience that stays with you long after you leave. Highly recommended for anyone who values art, culture, and natural beauty.
An excellent hotel overall. The staff really go the extra mile to accomodate requests. Prices are very reasonable for a luxury brand. It is going to be closed for at least 18 months beginning Feb. 1, 2026. Looking forward to the reopening!
This was my second stay at this property. The first round I did not have Club Lounge access, but this time I did and what a pleasant experience that makes it! The staff were all great in the Club Lounge. The morning guy was personable and I was in very early being jet lagged from Bangkok. Turns out he lived a portion of his teen years in Bangkok, so nice conversations. The primary evening guy was off on our first nights but he was a lot of fun to chat with as well once he was back on. ||I am both excited and sad that the hotel closes down at the end of this month for renovations over a year long. I'm sad that the hotel employees are without a job, and I hope the owner has some other property he can employ them during renovation so that they may return. And while the hotel has been beautifully maintained, I'm excited to see an all new InterContinental. Ours in Bangkok closed for over a year for renovations and the hotel is now stunning. I'm expecting Montreal to be the same. ||I'll be back to test it all out after reopening!
Best place to stay in MTL, especially in winter as it's connected to the underground. Highly recommended.
Excellent place. Beautiful. Friendly staff.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here January 9-11! The staff were all top-notch; housekeeping, valet, front desk. No details were missed! I also enjoyed the fitness center which had a good variety of equipment and machines. Sad to leave and would definitely return!!
Our stay at the InterContinental was lovely. Rooms were immaculate, and spacious. Beautiful decor, comfortable beds and awesome bathroom - great tub and separate shower. Bath products were top class. Everything was sparkling clean. Check in was easy, parking is directly below building. Walking distance to all in Montreal, and near Metro. Breakfast was excellent, great selection (including GF items) and excellent omelet station. It is a classy hotel and very nice staff.
I have seen complaints about the dated decor here and sure, it's a little old fashioned but an exceedingly comfortable, centrally located hotel with spacious, cozy rooms and friendly staff. At about $250 US a night, which is what we ended up paying, it was a good value.
Had a great experience, the beds are amazing. We had a great view and the staff was very friendly.
Had a bit of trouble checking in as rooms weren't ready, but staff were great and made things right.
We stayed here for my girlfriend’s 30 birthday and the hotel was kind enough to give us a room upgrade, free drinks and a nice dessert upon checkin. The hotels located right next to down town making it a perfect location. Service was great and so was the room while being a bit dated. I would definitely stay here again.
