I am confused by this bakery. All the food here was delicious, and very well made; same with the coffee. The design of the shop is stylish and clearly well-considered. But all of that is just wasted by poor staff. From the unwelcoming vibe from the woman (black hair) at the register who pivoted between indifference and impatience, to the barista who called out names like a drill sergeant, (in fact, the whole shop went silent when she shouted/repeated a name for a drink order.) I went from excited to try to my coffee to trepidation in approaching the counter to pick it up. It seemed the owner/manager, the blonde woman behind the counter who was a little warmer than the other staff, was privy to the vibe, and from our view, was guilty of not reigning in the buzzkills working there. Why would a business think this approach was acceptable or desirable? I think this bakery has some improvements to consider, but sadly, the savoury bread was not worth dealing with the salty staff.

We usually just get amazing bread from this bakery, but decided to try the gravlax and brisket sandwiches today for lunch and we are really happy we did. They were delicious and we will definitely be back many times to try the rest of the menu. Great staff as well. Highly recommended.

Their iced tea is SO GOOD. No idea what the blend is, but it's so floral, not too sweet, so unique!!

Update: Went back recently since I had a medical appointment across the street and it was convenient enough I figured I'd try them again. The sourdough still lacked ferment time and they gave me a burnt loaf to boot (a third of the loaf had actual char, not just browning, not just Maillard réaction. They put the burnt end in the bag so I didn't see it until I got home. I'm done. Review from 2024: Bread going downhill. A year or two the sourdough was stellar. Now it's not fermented enough. And for the price it should be done correctly.

Secretly one of the best bakeries in Montreal. Their mocha is actually really good, using their signature chocolate sauce rather than mixing in hot chocolate powder. All the pastries are incredible, especially the babka.

I finally got to try this specialty bakery and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and delicious, from the pastries to the sandwiches and even the coffee was well prepared. Service was quick and welcoming. Will definitely be back!
