I always loved the atmosphere of this place

Great value & fast service; reasonable menu selections. My fav family brunch resto.
This is no Michelin Star restaurant, and you don’t want it to be, either. A perfect Canadian diner.
An absolute staple for classic Montreal fare! This old-fashioned diner has been serving authentic eats for decades; just stepping inside the restaurant transports you to a far simpler world. We got the classic smoked meat sandwiches and the poutine. The soft bread is loaded to the brim with super tender and flavorful smoked meat and accompanied by tangy mustard. If you’re visiting Montreal for the first time, smoked meat is definitely a must-try food, and Greenspot did it justice. Their famous poutine was fun and tasty as well. We got the small size, which was still plenty to share between two people. Despite being drenched in the hearty gravy, the thick-cut fries remained very crispy. The cheese curds had the right amount of “squeakiness” every Canadian is looking for and made for a delightful eating experience. You can’t go to Quebec and not try poutine. The combination of fries, gravy, and cheese seems simple yet is surprisingly layered with the contrasting textures. Greenspot is the spot for an unassuming, undeniably wonderful meal!
We love the soup.
Excellent place through and through. Been going for a few years and its still my favourite poutine spot with excellent burgers. The restaurant is a fun classic diner with kind service and good prices. We've had nearly flawless experiences there over the years however our last time there we found a small hair in the food + the fries were a bit stale + the service was slower than usual. It was a collection of minor things that all happened in one visit that has not happened anytime before. We consider it an "off" night, and understand no restaurant can be perfect every single time. The food was still great (I got the fish+chips), the service was still kind and the prices were still right. I'd still strongly recommend it!
Amazing poutine and smoked meat sandwiches. Meals are huge
I only had a few bites of my poutine as the fries were horrible, undercooked and possibly old. None of the waitresses, despite seeing my almost untouched plate, even bothered to ask for feedback. Sadly, this is a dying institution.
Good authentic diner wither simple diner vibes, laidback, don’t expect anything fancy (don’t come up with intolerances but there are options for all) but real and genuine people coming in and out for the simple food, not the place to chill for hours. Service is fast and the food is good. I prefer breakfasts in general but they do have a mean poutine that will scare away a 5 days old hangover and smoked meet is good.
Great food, insane value And fast even when completely slammed
good old comfort food since the 70s. I like their poutines, and hot dogs are excellent as well !
Good service if you’re lucky, food is amazing classic diner Atmosphere
Service here is always great, waitresses/waiters are very nice. Their poutine and hot subs are really good.
Lovely spot. Service was SO nice. Food hit the spot and portions were huge. I had a lasagna on the express lunch menu, it came with a soup, dessert and coffee all included. Will be back!
Freaking awesome lasagna!!! The vintage jukeboxes are just so cool!!!
Best Montreal spot for a poutine and a casse croute. Highly recommend the big green hot dog, super flavourful and that special sauce is amazing! Highly recommend the chop chop poutine too. Big plate with a friendly price! Lived my whole life in Montreal and never got to try it, and i can say, i will proudly come back ! Ambience feels cozy and nostalgic, never change it!
You know what you want and you're gonna get it here. It's classic, it hits the spot. Service can be hit or miss but just relax, enjoy the vibe and some top-tier casse croute grub.
This is such an amazing place! I have been here 3-4 times in the past year and had a good experience everytime. It is a classic diner. Reminds me of New York. Very cozy, home-like feeling. The food and service is great. They also have some off-menu items but you have to ask. From the menu, every egg based item is great. The pancakes are also soft and fluffy. Every time I try something new and enjoy it. I have only come here for breakfast or brunch. Never lunch or dinner so I have no idea what that is like. The only small negative is that they do not take a reservation. So the wait time can sometimes be more than 15 minutes.
Not as pretentious as I expected, considering the spot’s great big reputation!! Definitely worth doing for weekday brunch to beat the crowds if you can. I had the lève-tard breakfast and it was exactly what i needed.
Tried the Avalanche and Bonheur d’occasion poutines, both were very tasty with generous portions and rich gravy. Really nice, friendly service too.
It was my first night on my first-ever trip to Montreal (back in November 2025), and a friend of mine back home (who is Montreal born and raised) highly recommended that I should go here for a bite to eat. After getting checked into my hotel room earlier in the evening, I decided to make this my first stop. After my server led me to a table by the TV, I ordered the St-Henri poutine and an orange pop. The food was served quicker than I expected (which is not a bad thing) and I then proceeded to do what many Montrealers must have done over many decades while in here, enjoy my poutine while watching the Montreal Canadiens on TV.... 😊😁 The food was fantastic, and Erin the server's attentiveness was great too. All in all, a very enjoyable experience on my first night in Montreal!
The best diner in Montreal by far. Classic 👌🏻
Favourite poutine spot in MTL.
This is a great quick and cheap spot to have some nice comfort food and enjoy an authentic dinner experience. The service was quick and friendly and the menu has a huge variety of options.
Great sub worth the price, Ate half and was full!
