What guests say about Fameux Viande Fumée Et Charcuterie
Mixed reviews, but many customers like the friendly, fast service and the classic diner-style atmosphere. The smoked meat, some sandwiches, the burgers, and the milkshakes are often appreciated, with portions considered generous by some. On the other hand, the poutine and a few dishes receive criticism for inconsistent quality, and several find the prices too high for what is served.

Best poutine fries i ever had, fresh, crunchy, and very flavored. I also found their chicken souvlaki to be very tasty, the chicken is so tender and well marinated. The waitress Oona is very very professional, kind, and she was around all the time making sure we're satisfied with everything. Definitely recommended.
Overall Impression: Fameux is one of those places that feels deeply woven into Montréal itself. Not trendy. Not trying to reinvent breakfast. Not curated for Instagram. Just a classic Montréal diner doing what it’s done for years: serving solid comfort food quickly, consistently, and without pretension. This isn’t our regular spot, but it’s absolutely one we return to. Sometimes intentionally for breakfast, other times because we find ourselves wandering Mont-Royal, puttering around St-Denis, and realize Fameux just makes sense. Places like this matter. They become part of the rhythm of a neighborhood. What I Like: What I appreciate most about Fameux is its consistency. The food is always good, the service is always friendly, and the experience is always uncomplicated in the best possible way. I’m a simple guy, and I almost always go with breakfast: * eggs, * sausage, * home fries, * toast, * coffee. Exactly the kind of breakfast a diner should deliver well… and they do. Their club sandwiches and bacon sandwiches are also great choices if you’re stopping in for lunch. Service has always been attentive without feeling forced or performative. I’ve never had an issue getting seated quickly, and there’s a comforting ease to the whole operation that makes you relax almost immediately. No gimmicks. No attitude. Just people feeding people. Atmosphere & Vibe: This place feels like part of the historical landscape of Montréal. It’s not fancy, but it’s welcoming in a way many newer places struggle to replicate authentically. One of my favourite parts of eating here is sitting near the windows watching the flow of Mont-Royal and St-Denis outside. The foot traffic never stops: * locals, * students, * tourists, * old Montréal characters, * people rushing somewhere, * people clearly going nowhere. If you enjoy people watching, this place quietly delivers one of the better lunch views in the city. Inside, it has that old-school diner energy where the restaurant itself feels lived in. Comfortable. Familiar. Honest. Closing: Fameux isn’t trying to be the best brunch in Montréal. It’s trying to be a dependable Montréal diner… and that’s exactly why it works. Good food. Friendly service. Fair prices. No nonsense. Places like this become part of people’s routines for a reason. And honestly, Montréal would lose a little piece of itself if spots like Fameux ever disappeared.
Have only had breakfast but the experience remains truthful, we go often. Staff are friendly and food tastes great
Claudie was fantastic. Great and tender breakfast steak
I go here every once in a while, and it's really hit or miss. The club sandwich is good. Service is always friendly but food wise I can't recommend. This morning I ordered a side of scrambled eggs (cost 3$) and this is what they give me. Appalling, how do you mess scrambled eggs up this bad.
One of the greatest Pizza places in Montreal
Really great random find for me and really enjoyed the place. This is the one of the most classic north American diners to go to and has food to fit it, I had the double cheese burger with sweet potato fries and was very much satisfied in one serving. Would highly recommend this place and looking forward to go again.
Pleasant service, smoked meat sandwich hit the spot late night, slightly toasting the bread would help it from falling apart though. Played Backstreet Boys and some other old hits I love.
Table next to us two annoying women discussing the difference of late and cappuccino to the patient waitress. Come for classics! Iam german visiting Montreal and came across this hidden gem. In the street corner beeing surrounded by fast food chains this old school diner has survived. Classic atmosphere, tons to choose. Burger Royale, Mex hot dog and strawberry milkshake. Iam rolling out of here. Very happy.
Basic diner breakfast. Server was great.
Greate food and very good ambient
Great food, friendly service, bustling atmosphere. I've been therr twice and it was agréable both times.
Food is pretty subpar. I don't come here for the food - although, the submarine tout garni was actually good. The poutine, meh. The gyro is pretty good. I mainly come here because it's the only place that's open so late and when I'm in the area with friends and we want to grab food and it's 10:30pm and we're a medium sized group, we end up here. The lady who works there, Sonya, is also great, she holds the fort down and works hard and is always pleasant. The fries are good though. Milkshakes too. The steamies are good, sometimes I find it tastes too bland though they say they use Lester's. The poutine was also pretty abysmal. And when I think QC diner, I think good basic standard poutine. Not here. I haven't had their breakfast but that's probably fine and a safe bet because, their potatoes are probably good, eggs is hard to mess up and you have salt and pepper.
