Worst service ever

The Chinese bbq is old and reheated. Never again
We had an enjoyable dinner at Restaurant Ethan, a Chinese eatery located in Montreal's Chinatown. This restaurant is known for its authentic Cantonese cuisines, popular Peking Duck, Beef Fried Noodles, Sichuan dishes and Dim Sum. We ordered the Cantonese Chow Mein (crispy egg noodles topped with a stir-fry meat, seafood and vegetables in a savoury sauce) and Pan Fried Dumplings. Both dishes tasted delicious! They were generous with the portions and the price was reasonable.
We had the best food and Cheap the food was great and lots of food.
Food was warm and comforting. No wait on a Saturday night, very nice service and super fast order. General Tsao Chicken was quick, a bit hard, but overall good. Lo mein was super skinny noodle, thinner than we are accustomed to but good. A good stop for a quick and safe bite in China Town.
Amazing food this is my fourth time here with my parter crazy big portion so fire, staff is lit I love it -Anthony bourdain
Perfect chinese spot, fast service, waiters memorize your order, also crazy portions i’ve been here so many times
Its haard to ruin Cantonese food for me, but they managed to do it. I got a spicy meal , trust me it didn't haveany, spice unless salt is spicy Im currently about to throw out outside the restaurant. Never get the "dumplings"
I always go there for the Char Siu and rice, and it never fails to deliver.
Best Chinese food outside New York and Boston! Their Singapore rice noodles and salt and pepper pork chops were outstanding!
Maggie was our server and she was excellent, the portions were very generous ( we had two full boxes to take home) and very reasonably priced. Will be returning on future trips to Montreal! Thank you :)
The staff wasn’t wearing gloves while cutting the roast meats — hopefully they washed their hands. Meat is dry.
We ordered the BBQ pork duck rice, the BBQ pork chicken rice, plus the scallop shrimp dumpling dimsum. I’ve had lots of char siu, and it’s always one of my favourites. I love the glazed outside, sometimes a little charred, well-seasoned with BBQ sauce, a bit of fat, and usually served with extra sauce. It should be oily and have a nice colour. But this BBQ pork was plain, dry, and tough to chew, with no real seasoning and no oil. The duck was the same. The chicken, though, was good- mostly tender, oily, and juicy. The food came out quickly after we ordered, and the staff were nice to us. The dimsum, however, had way too thick dumpling skin, too starchy, not translucent or soft. It was just okay… I wouldn’t recommend the dimsum here. Overall, the meal was fine.
I probably ate more than 30 times the same single thing there: BBQ pork with rice and vegetables.
A solid spot in Chinatown if you’re looking for affordable Chinese food. The prices are very reasonable, which makes it a great option for a quick and casual meal. The dishes came out very quickly, which was nice when we were hungry and didn’t want to wait long. The flavors were good and satisfying — not overly fancy, but definitely tasty for the price. The staff were also quite friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. Overall, it’s a great value restaurant if you want simple Chinese food at a very good price. I would come back again for a quick meal in Chinatown. 👍
Delicious food and very good service. I came here multiple times and will be back again! I truly recommend the red bean ice with cream as dessert.
Amazing food for the portions served. Friendly friendly service too. One of the best places in Chinatown.
Lovely service, amazing food, always fast and great. We always come back once in a while! Ethan no. 1 ! 🫰❤️
Wonderful food at a great price. Brings me fond memories of Hong Kong every time.
The food was good and big portions
I think that because of their vast menu not all of their dishes are their forte. Having come here multiple times, I can say that their Peking duck, soft rice rolls, satay beef fried noodles and milk tea are delicious. Don't bother ordering fruit flavoured bubble tea or pad Thai, it isn't the best they have. Regarding the service, they have place for improvement. Recently, it's gotten better from past visits though so I think they're going in the right direction.
Pretty good food, good service and excellent price 😁😁 My preferred place in the Quartier chinois
I did not appreciate being pressured into paying a tip. While I understand gratuity policies, I believe they should be clearly communicated before billing. Customers should not feel uncomfortable. Honestly, this experience has left a negative impression on me. The food was average too.
Great experience eating there with my kids hickey team. The food was fast, easy, delicious, and affordable. They were very kid friendly and had wonderful service. Often a team dinner with 20 people can take hours and become a total hassle. The restaurant Ethan team made it easy abd even provided complimentary desserts for our kids. Thank you!
We are so happy that we dined here. They were able to accommodate our large group without notice and they took our orders with patience and ease. They were so friendly and helpful. And the service was fast. I had the shrimp wonton soup and the broth was light and flavorful and the shrimp wontons were delicious. I also highly recommended #52 Beef with Black Pepper Sauce and #145 Satay Beef Ramen Soup. For dessert we had the sesame balls and they were perfect.
