Exceptional burrito, far better than expected. Actually possibly top 3 burritos I've ever had. Served with fries which seemed a bit odd for a Mexican place but they were also excellent. The green spicy sauce was insanely good. I went for lunch on a snowy Saturday so had the place to myself so service was also great. I'm not local but if I was I would be back many times.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Molcajete, and it turned out to be one of the most satisfying Mexican food experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance between cozy and lively — colorful décor, warm lighting, and the kind of welcoming energy that immediately makes you feel at home. It felt like the kind of place where people come not just to eat, but to linger, laugh, and enjoy good company over great food. We decided to go all-in on some of their signature dishes, starting with the molcajetes — and honestly, this alone would be enough reason to come back. Served bubbling hot in traditional stone bowls, the molcajetes arrived at the table still sizzling, layered generously with tender grilled meats, sautéed vegetables, melted cheese, and a deeply flavorful sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The textures and flavors were incredible: smoky, savory, slightly spicy, and perfectly balanced. Each bite felt hearty and comforting, especially when wrapped in warm tortillas. It’s clearly a dish meant for sharing, but you’ll definitely find yourself wanting more. We also ordered the steak burrito, which was just as impressive in its own way. It was massive without being sloppy, tightly wrapped and packed with juicy, well-seasoned steak, rice, beans, and fresh toppings. The steak was cooked perfectly — tender with just the right char — and the proportions were spot-on so you tasted everything in each bite. It’s the kind of burrito that feels indulgent but still carefully prepared, not just thrown together. To drink, we had a tequila sunrise and mojitos, and both were excellent. The tequila sunrise was vibrant and refreshing, with that classic citrus sweetness balanced nicely by the tequila — not overly sugary like they can sometimes be. The mojitos were equally well done: bright, minty, and crisp, clearly made fresh rather than from a mix. They paired perfectly with the richness of the food and added to the festive feel of the meal. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The staff seemed genuinely proud of the food and happy to make recommendations, which always enhances the experience. Our dishes arrived hot and beautifully presented, and we never felt rushed — the pacing made it easy to relax and enjoy everything. Overall, El Molcajete delivered on every level: generous portions, authentic flavors, excellent drinks, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for a fun night out with friends. Between the incredible molcajetes, the standout steak burrito, and the refreshing cocktails, it’s definitely a spot I’d return to — and recommend to anyone craving hearty, satisfying Mexican cuisine.
